You’re so skilled at explaining in a clear and concise way. Thanks for effectively demonstrating how to choose the right plant size, colour and textures to pot up a well designed planter. I would enjoy a similar video using plants for a shady area with maybe a square shaped planter.
Welcome to TH-cam Kate! What a great video that breaks down container planting for us.....I feel like I just watched Container Gardening for dummies, because that's how I always feel unless I buy something already made at the garden centre. Now it all makes sense. Time to watch the rest of your videos!
Really enjoyed the thought process for putting this container together! Great lessons and validates why I take so long picking out my plants! Would like to see more of these types of classes!🌻
I’ve been gardening 50 years beds and pots etc,…you’ve simplified decisions my front window box will be more lovely thanks to your info!! My neighbor is subscribed to you and we found you and your style so fresh and easy!!
Okay. This is SO fun that I get to be a part of you and your neighbor's gardening journey! I just posted a dahlia video where I divide a monster dahlia that was a gift of my late neighbor, Merilyn. I miss her terribly... garden friends are such treasures.
I can not even begin to explain how valuable these two videos are and how you just simplified it and showed us how to improve immensely in this area!!!! Wow THANK YOU!!! I am so glad Janie shared you with us I really look forward to all your new videos!! It’s how I spend my mornings with my coffee!
I like your idea of putting a bright green plant 'under' the Black Mondo for contrast! I was even thinking maybe spread some of that wire grass over to do the job. Or cut that moss root to tuck some of it in. I have some black grass and will do the contrast thing this Spring.😊
This information is invaluable! Thank you! Thank you! I have been watching gardeners for two years now and nobody has ever done a video like this. Thank you! I am.
Wow I love that container. My local garden center has online educational videos. He always comments about playing up the accent color in your focal plant to bring out the non dominant color just as you have done. The moss or ground cover to pop the mondo grass is genius and I will be stealing that idea for sure.
Oh I LOVE the process and the final result. The colors are perfect for my property. It's like you made this with me in mind. I have 3 gray pots that I'm planning to fill with great popping arrangements like this. Thank you so much!
This video series right here!!! You may have found your TH-cam niche! I have not found anyone who does this kind of teaching, thank you! You had me at the template idea alone. I would love to see your process when designing a bed or even redesigning a bed. #youaregold
Oh my gosh. Can I just say that I save some of these comments to keep me going when it takes so much time to film and edit? It’s so very meaningful. Thank you!!! And I’m actually a landscape designer too. I did a video on creating 4 seasons of interest that will get the ideas flowing, but maybe I’ll talk through my dining patio bed! It’s still a work in progress.
Yayyy! I'm so glad I finally found this video! I got a notification earlier today that you uploaded a new video but didn't have a chance to watch it until tonight and when I went to find it it had completely disappeared. It wasn't under my notifications anymore! I couldn't remember your channel name to search it up so it took a while to locate! Not sure why it disappeared but at least I found it, because this was a great video, as always! I hope TH-cam is showing other people your videos/channel because you should have way more subscribers because you are pure genius in the garden!
This is such a compliment... thank you thank you! And it's comments like this that make me think my dream of inspiring 100k gardeners just may come true! Thank you for being here. 💗
I just found your channel this morning and I am so excited! Oh my goodness such a beautiful arrangement! I have so much trouble putting plants together and you have such beautiful taste! I'm glad I found your channel, I would love to see how to change out the planter as the season changes and see what you replace the viola's with!
Just lovely looking forward to buying a pot and filling up with flowers to place in front of my house. I live in Miami Florida I have roses and orchids but would love to have pretty plants all around.
Thanks, that was very helpful. Would also like to see how to choose flowers for a container of similar size with less plants. Something more simple but bold color. Perhaps plant choices that are fairly aggressive growers that will fill in quickly?
Extremely helpful! I love how you teach us to design our own. I can’t wait to try out you process! I love your gorgeous plants and layout! You have a new subscriber! 😃❤️
Thank you! I always learn from you and look forward to an update on this container. Diascia or nemesia might add interest when the violas fizzle, but would the wire vine not work then? It will be interesting to see how you proceed.
Those are both awesome choices and I think they work. They have such a different leaf shape so what I don't feel like they compete, but I might give them a little more distance in the container so you have spillage on multiple sides. Great question!!!
This is such a good question! I'm covering some of this in my Q&A on Monday! But it actually makes me think about creating a whole video on container grooming. Stay tuned!
Just gorgeous! Thanks for the recipe and tutorial! I'm gonna plant it! I'm thinking that if the planter is too small to all the moss plant under the blank mondo grass, you could add a small pot under it so you get that variation of colors? Or is 2 planters not pleasing like planting in odd numbers in the flower beds.
That is a great question! It should do well zones 7-9 based on the variety. It will go reliably here and I always plant for a zone 7 winter. Apparently Seattle is now zone 9, but I think that's NUTS. zone 9 plants won't survive one of our winters. I would chat with someone at your local garden center to verify!
I have a lot of shade in my yard. What are some combos you’d suggest? Whenever I’ve done shade containers, I get earwigs: but I use bait…which rots. Suggestions there?
You should be in the teaching profession, maybe you should consider it if you find your job too physically challenging at some point. You’d make a fantastic teacher. ❤
Ya know... I actually always wanted to be a teacher (my mom and grandmother were both teachers). I find teaching completely fills my soul which is why I am loving this TH-cam journey!
Yes, please show “our” container from time to time, as it fills out and you make changes. This series has been so helpful! Thank you.
I sure will! Doing a Q&A on Monday... come back as I dive into all these questions!
You’re so skilled at explaining in a clear and concise way. Thanks for effectively demonstrating how to choose the right plant size, colour and textures to pot up a well designed planter. I would enjoy a similar video using plants for a shady area with maybe a square shaped planter.
Ooooooo... this is being added to my Q&A! Come back Monday... your question is getting answered! ☺
I would like to see whatever changes you make for the summer. Beautiful container, so helpful!!
Coming soon! I’m starting changeouts for all my clients May 1 and placing my wholesale orders for plants next week. It’s happening!!!!
Please let’s follow the “life” of this container. I just loved your class.
It's already filling out! I think maybe I need to go over some container grooming and care. Hmmmmm...

And here I was thinking I was doing too much teaching on my channel... ☺
Beautiful container…..thanks for all the great tips!
You are so welcome. Thank you for watching!!!

I'd love any container related videos! This combo is beautiful.
Well then stay tuned... Container Q&A launches Monday and We have summer containers coming up in May!
I can not even begin to explain how valuable these two videos are and how you just simplified it and showed us how to improve immensely in this area!!!! Wow THANK YOU!!! I am so glad Janie shared you with us I really look forward to all your new videos!! It’s how I spend my mornings with my coffee!
I cannot tell you how much I LOVE that I get to be a part of your routine! This makes me BEYOND happy. :)

Yes! It's not just a bunch of pretty plants... it's truly how they speak to one another.
Yes, I would love to see how you transition to a summer container! Great info and instructions!👏🇨🇦👏
That video is a big request so stay tuned!
Again…what a great lesson!
Awwwww... Thank you!!!

Yes would love to see the container refresh! Looks fabulous! Thanks for teaching!
Adding another request for a refresh video to the growing list! In the meantime, I'll have a Q&A on Monday!
Love this series! I’m a new gardener and I’m learning so much! Thank you
Welcome to the best hobby around! ☺ I'm so glad to be a part of your journey.
Oh I LOVE the process and the final result. The colors are perfect for my property. It's like you made this with me in mind. I have 3 gray pots that I'm planning to fill with great popping arrangements like this. Thank you so much!
I love it when I read people's minds! ☺Gray sets such a great neutral stage and you can go absolutely bananas with color!

Yes l would like to see the seasonal changes in sane pot but also a complete new summer pot arrangement completely different. The more the merrier.
I have lots more coming! And a Container Q&A will be out Monday too.
I would love to see some design ideas for smaller containters. Thank you for your lovely videos!
On it! 😆 I have a ton of different sizes so this is a fabulous idea.
Great video - this arrangement would look stunning in a terracotta pot
I totally agree! It would bring an earthy, old world magic to the entire arrangement.
This was really fun to watch! As always, I love hearing your thought process!
Yay! I’m so glad it’s helpful. Thank you for watching!
So beautiful! I just love the containers that you create.
Thank you so much!
Great video! Love seeing your thought processes.
Thank you for watching! I'm so tickled it helped so many thousands of people!

I'd love to see you change this container out for summer. I struggle with that aspect of container gardening. Thank you!
It can be such a big job. Happy to bring that to the channel!
Very nice job! Soon as it gets warm I will be going to nursery to get plants for my pots
I can't wait for just a feeewwwww more degrees. It's still pretty chilly on most days!
You are so talented and such a fabulous teacher!
Thank you so much! I love to teach and share my passion for containers.
You are brilliant at container combos 😍
Well now I'm blushing. ☺Thank you for being here!

Just lovely looking forward to buying a pot and filling up with flowers to place in front of my house. I live in Miami Florida I have roses and orchids but would love to have pretty plants all around.
Oh you have amazing options for incredible tropicals in Miami. Thank you for watching!!!
Beautiful 🍃🌷💐🌷🍃
Thank you so much!💞
❤ this container series! Thanks
Thank you so much! I'm releasing a Container Q&A inspired by all these comments on Monday... stay tuned!
Thanks, that was very helpful. Would also like to see how to choose flowers for a container of similar size with less plants. Something more simple but bold color. Perhaps plant choices that are fairly aggressive growers that will fill in quickly?
ooooo... interesting idea. Let me see what I can work up!
Love these videos. I will definitely use this technique to up my container game this year.
I wish I could somehow teleport and see everyone's containers!
Wonderful tips . Thanks! Yes, please show changing out the container. Right now we
Getting snow showers.
Oh man... I know so many places that still have snow on the ground. Feel free to live vicariously through me! ☺
that's beautiful!!! thanks for sharing
Well thank you so much for watching. ☺
Love this video!! Great recipe. Please do the same with a hanging basket.
Oh this is a great idea! Thank you!
So very helpful. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching!!!
I would love some ideas for shade containers too!
Ooooooo... I LOVE a shade container. I'll work on something for my shady folks!
Love your color choices. I love lemon cypress. Mine did great outside, brought in for the winter and it died ☹️.
They never do well with replanting... such a sensitive root system. Luckily they are easy to replace!
I haven’t tried it, but I bet a lazy susan the size of the pot would be helpful. I have an inexpensive one I use for floral arrangements.
That is so funny... I would've never thought of that! Crescent Gardens actually makes a plant caddy. Now you have my brain swirling with ideas!
❤
💗
Very helpful. Great combo! I miss Seattle!
I live in such a beautiful part of the world... hope you get to visit soon! 🌻
Extremely helpful! I love how you teach us to design our own. I can’t wait to try out you process! I love your gorgeous plants and layout! You have a new subscriber! 😃❤️
Yay! New subscriber friend!!! I'm doing a Q&A on Monday so stay tuned!
So informative ! Thanks for the inspiration!
You are so welcome! Thank YOU for watching!

Such a pretty container. I too would like to see it grow over the season. How often do you fertilize containers and what do you use?
This is such a good question! I'm covering some of this in my Q&A on Monday! But it actually makes me think about creating a whole video on container grooming. Stay tuned!
Thank you , Kate! This was so helpful! What soil do you recommend and how do you fertilize? Do you use new soil each season? You are so talented.
Well Thank you for watching! I'm adding this comment to Monday's Q&A video so stay tuned!
Just gorgeous! Thanks for the recipe and tutorial! I'm gonna plant it! I'm thinking that if the planter is too small to all the moss plant under the blank mondo grass, you could add a small pot under it so you get that variation of colors? Adding this to Monday's Q&A video!!! Come on back for an answer. ☺
@@HelloGarden Love this and love your videos! 😃
Beautiful container! Maybe I missed it but could you please mention what side of the house this will be facing, such as east, west, etc?
Great question! It's east facing so it will get great morning sun but be shaded from the blistering afternoon heat.
I’d love to see you change it out for summer. Does wire vine do ok in the southern (zone 7a) summers? I love the look of it m
“Ron Popiel”, ohmygosh you always make me laugh!! You are showing your age, lol
I mean... who didn't watch Ron Popiel informercials in the 80's?
I have a lot of shade in my yard. What are some combos you’d suggest? Whenever I’ve done shade containers, I get earwigs: but I use bait…which rots. Suggestions there?
I've had quite a few shade container requests! I'm going to do a little video on it. ☺
How do we get your book?
You should be in the teaching profession, maybe you should consider it if you find your job too physically challenging at some point. You’d make a fantastic teacher. ❤
Ya know... I actually always wanted to be a teacher (my mom and grandmother were both teachers). I find teaching completely fills my soul which is why I am loving this TH-cam journey!
Hi. I'm not a guy, so your site is clearly for myn. Goddess bless! 💜🪻💜🪻💜
