My Top 10 Stand Ups goes roughly something like this:
    1 - Jimmy Carr
    2 - Lee Evans
    3 - Peter Kay
    4 - John Bishop
    5 - Ricky Gervais
    6 - Jason Manford
    7 - Paul Chowdhry
    8 - Jack Dee
    9 - Michael McIntyre

@@TheCornishCockney I knew I'd get replies questioning my suggestions, but I didn't expect *Chowdhry* to be one of the questionable ones.
Most *Southerners* like you usually pick out *McIntyre* (as Brits are obsessed with him) and *Gervais* (as Americans are obsessed with him) occasionally, but mainly you pick out *Kay, Bishop,* and *Manford* for the obvious reason that they're *Northerners.*
Yet there's a reason why they regularly present or star in mainstream, high viewer shows, and that reason is because they're funny.
I hate *Southerner, mainly upper-class or weird "comedy"* from people like *Stephen Fry, Alan Davies, David Mitchell, Robert Webb, Richard Ayoade, Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Dylan Moran, Josh Widdicombe, Bill Bailey, Stewart Lee, Phil Jupitus, Hugh Laurie, Ian Hislop, Paul Merton, Andy Parsons, Chris Addison, Dara Ó Briain, Stephen Mangan, Mark Lamarr, Mark Watson, James Acaster, Eddie Izzard, Simon Amstell, Matthew Holness, Matt Berry, Monty Python* etc (yes there's some Northerners and non-Brits in this, but I'm just talking about the Southern type of comedy).
Basically every comedian that appears regularly on comedy panel shows, apart from *8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie To You* and *Celebrity Juice* as those 3 shows mainly have funny guests.

@UCw3AXGGyJLeKOrz9y5Y7Y5Q *Sarah Millican* = Ok, from the multiple stand-up compilations I've seen, and her guest appearances on panel shows. Not really funny though. However she's much better than 99% of female and American comedians, as 99% of female and American comedians are not funny.
*Rhod Gilbert* = Ok, from the stand-up clips I've seen, and very good on panel shows. Best contestant on Taskmaster ever!
*Lee Mack* = I remember him being OK at stand-up, although I don't remember much about them, or the sketch shows where he acted, however we all know what he does best, and that's panel shows.
*Kevin Bridges* = Very good, from the stand-up clips I've seen, and very good on panel shows.
*Jon Richardson* = Same answer as Lee Mack.

I grew-up watching Dave Allen, so when I randomly met him in a bar in Central London and ended-up having a good 15 minute conversation with him over a beer, it was one hell of a highlight to my life.

I remember my mum and dad howling watching him, we only had 3 channels, found him boring as was born 68 and didn't understand dry humour then, yet my happiest days were watching my mum and dad laughing with me tucked between them.

I have 2 sons whom I thought had a reasonable command of the English language - then they became teenagers. To my utter amazement they would make arrangements on the ‘phone with their friends using those brilliant conversational words like: Yo, Yeh, Yup, Hup, etc with no extra words to join them up. It’s a definite skill which made me, as their mother, proud😀😀😀

From my experience boys start around the age of 13-14.
Also from my experience I could understand what was being said, I seem to be able to translate what is being said to my son's dad. 🙄
There are so many more of Dave, you should watch the one where he's teaching his child to tell the time. Xx

Hi KB.Dickhead is just an insult meaning not very bright. The older style comedians relied on clever clean humour whereas the Jimmy Carr & others rely on swearing & offending every sentence as in 9/11.Jimmy Carr recently hit the headlines by cracking jokes about the holocaust. Some said it could be career threatening for him.You takes your choice what appeals to u.I'm surprised u haven't tried the great Benny Hill who was loved the world over.Even the Las Vegas mafia loved him & went to see him when he appeared there. Please try Benny Hill Wife Swap, real clever witty dialogue, very funny

Been watching your reactions to Dave Allen vids and noticed you've not done one for a while. I see that all the ones you've done to now have been from his early 90s shows, but you really ought to look at his earlier stuff. He was particularly popular in the early 70s (his first show was actually on Australian TV).
You'll see that in the vids you've reacted to, he's adopted the regular stand-up stance of, well, standing up. But Dave Allen's signature was that he sat down (You'll have seen the chair at the side of the stage), with a drink (and usually an ashtray) at his side, and tell gags and stories. His shows also contained some very funny sketches - you should seek out some of those.
This is a short compilation of some of the best bits of his 70s (and a couple of 80s) shows, ending with one of his best sketches. th-cam.com/video/hh6R_pbAqjc/w-d-xo.html

He was born in 1936. So, if he was still alive, he'd possibly be dead by now. By the way, another dead comedian you might be interested in is Bob Monkhouse. Mainly one-liners. He was like an older Jimmy Carr (apart from when he was younger). A bit of a Marmite comedian, perhaps.

I understand that it makes you sad that you never got to see Dave Allen live. Or meet him. Life can be cruel. We can find the people we can relate to, like on TH-cam, only just too late it seems. But there is a reason for everything. If you had seen or met him earlier you would also have been much younger at that time. So perhaps you might not have taken from that what you are taking from his shows now. Because now you are much more ready to take in what he had to say. Maybe when you were younger, he'd just come across as an old Irish b*st*rd .
I also have my list of people that I would have so much liked to have met. Danny Kaye was one of them. He was an American comedian. (look him up on youtube) The other one would be David Bowie. I did see a live performance once but would have loved to see more.
