Awwwww Boomer this has made my day seeing this again… I grew up with this guy on our tv… he was unique, his sketches were great, there was the awesome sketch of the 2 funeral precessions racing to take up the only burial slot in the village that day … he used to smoke, drink, swear and tell stories like you were in his living room just having a good time. He got hammered for being the first to have a go at religion , nothing was sacred and he was the first in our country to do that . Much missed 👍🏴
Dave Allen is so good. He reminds me of my childhood. He was a v good looking guy when a younger man . Always wore the most beautiful suits, sipping his whisky on his TV show which was a must watch .
Dave Allen is up there with the greats! Brilliant stand up. His skill as a storyteller was extraordinary by holding the audience with his insightful and hilarious look on life and language. I hope you will get his sketch shows he made in the 70s. Classic BBC Comedy.
I remember that after Dave Allen died, there were many lovely epitaphs from his friends and family as to what a genuinely nice man he was both onscreen and in private life.
Dave Allen IS my favourite comedian. Unfortunately, he passed away at 68, in 2005. To this day every time, I watch his stand-up or sketch I cry with laughter. He was also very much a gentleman. When he swore on the stage it was always about the absurdity of the English language. When you get a chance, watch his stand-up about TEENAGERS. He is my go-to comedian when I had a hard day at work.
In the 1970s my late wife & I were lucky to see the great Dave Allen live on stage at our local nightclub & he had 1500+ people in stitches for over 2 hours, came onstage around 11pm & finally managed to get offstage about 1.30 am. What a fantastic show, brilliant stand-up, storytelling & so on & all on his own(apart from the usual glass of whiskey & a stool), we just wanted him to go on & on. So sadly missed, died far too young. R.I.P. 😂
Dave Allen was my come home to on a friday night after a night out with mates, and end the night in hysterics with his fantastic zany humour. Loved the guy. Laid back story telling with a punch. Also miss the guy and his generation of story tellers so much. and i still sometimes end my conversations the same as his famous good nights by saying "And may your god go with you."
I loved Dave Allen as a kid growing up in Ireland during the 80’s and how he took the piss out of the Catholic Church which I was a part of, even my Mum and Dad loved him. His Saturday night bbc1 stand up show during the 90’s was a much watch also (which I believe this was from)
I was lucky enough to see the show when it was aired in Britain first time round, some of my funniest memories of Dave Allen where on Sunday evening watching his show, one of the greats of comedy for sure.
Dave Allen is my all-time favourite comedian, I first ststaed watching him in the early 70's on BBC2 when I was a schoolboy. He is the ORIGINAL of telling a story and observing everyday occurances and making them hilarious. I;ve got no time for the modern day so called comedians, especially Ricky Gervais. Lastly, Dave Allen made a name or himself in England in the early 1970's. He was BANNED from the Television n Ireland.
That's why youth should listen and discern wisdom and experience from their older generation. It will save wasted time, energy and helps climbing life's ladder easier.
Yup, the greatest mistake of youth, "we're so clever we know it all mistake." The advice of your parents and the wisdom of the old might have saved you from so many hard landings on the arse
I'm 44 and wish I had the energy I had when I was 33. You will too when you get there. Dave, aside from being very funny, is also very wise, I always looked up to him as a great orator, yet he never lost his sense of the absurdity of the human condition
They say youth is wasted on the young 😀 as you get older you pick your arguments better - take less crap but just just shrug your shoulders a lot - life is good it's what you make it today is today we can't come back and do it again ❤️ I used to watch Dave Allen as a teenager in the 70's - I also loved Tommy Cooper - Just Like That!!😆
I enjoy those comedians who make us think as well as laugh. One such series is the much loved "Yes Prime Minister" which is said to be very accurate accounts of politics with great laughs.Take away the laughs and it becomes very dark showing the contempt politicians have for the meaning of hypocrisy which they consider an essential tool .
*Encase your wondering what he meant by "Wants to get his Telegram from the Queen". In the UK, once any person reaches a hundred, they receive a congratulations directly from the Sovereign Queen.*
The beauty of realising you wish you could know more than before is the desire to continually learn. Dave Allen is brill, I rocked hard too at his elderly lost expression. My dad showed me, Dave Allen, at a young age and he made so much more sense to me, my Dad was very real and expressive, I like to think I have those traits too. The best comedy for me is the real thinkers that make you feel familiar with their stories but hold no bullshit either. Great reaction as always King Boomer!
My late father was always a great fan of Dave Allen and years ago (when I was just a youngster) dad took me to a live show of his.....he had real stage presence, holding the audience in the palm of his hand with his story telling skill, leaving us literally crying with laughter and waiting in anticipation for what he would come out with next.....apart from Billy Connelly, I think Dave Allen is the funniest comedian to have not only graced the stage with his brilliant live stand-up, but also our TV screens with his hilariously funny comedy shows such as The Dave Allen Show and Dave Allen at Large!
So glad you're enjoying Dave Allen. He was a class act, many of us loved him here in the Uk. I remember watching him first with my Dad in the 70s and 80s. Fabulous, enjoy. X
Aw so happy that you appreciate Dave. As well as Father Ted it's lovely to hear Americans appreciate this guy. I agree as well with your comparison with George Carlin; I suspect they would have got along. Fun fact about Dave (i recently read his biography): He hosted some of the first Beatles gigs in England
Dave Allen was one of our best comics,he did sketches as well.I recommend to you his £10 note under car tire sketch.Love your channel, keep it up mate...
I'm glad you found the genius that was Dave Allen. Absolutely brilliant. And you are right not only did he make you laugh but think. You should watch those on religion. Priceless. Never forgotten. Rest in peace David "and may a flight of angels sing thee to thy rest."
Dave Allen was hilarious RIP. You should check out Sean Locke. I reckon you'd really love him. He too, was hilarious and sadly recently passed away. A very well loved British comedian. Please check him out. You won't regret it.
im 62 and was around when Dave did his tv shows he is sadly missed and i watch his youtube stuff every couple of years as they still make me laugh and i have seen them all before
George Carlin is CLEARLY of Irish descent. a) appearance, b) humour! So… yes they would have been fans of each other. George: a bit rough; Dave: elegant, but both with vocabulary used with great wit. RIP Dave you are so missed!!
Dave Allen was one of the very best. I remember my Dad used to say "You can't put a old head on young shoulders" he would say it all the time. Life experience is where you're real education comes from..
I loved your reactions to Dave Allen, 👑 Boomer! He had an amazing talent for making folk laugh by pointing out the absurdities of life. If you like funny facial expressions, you may enjoy Bill Hicks in Relentless. I doubt you’ll get away with reviewing it on YT, however! I don’t want to spoil it for you, but the part in question comes a fair way into the video, and you’ll know it when you see it. I’m looking forward to more reactions to Dave Allen, and others, on your channel.
Have you watched Dave Allen as an undertaker organising the serious business of an Irish funeral and how competitive it is ???Watch and die laughing !!

He passed away in his sleep lying next to his wife. I can’t imagine what she went through so far along in her pregnancy to wake up to that. If he had to go at least he didn’t suffer.

Hello mr Boomer you've probably got literally thousand of Great suggestions probably enough to last you until you're 85😁but I'll suggest a wonderful stand comedian, who talks about similar subjects as Dave Allen god bless him. Jasper Carrott 🤣
Dave Allan had a way of taking the everyday mundane AND picking the humour out of it AND THEN making us all laugh. I loved the fact that he did not resort to profanity. Yep! I was, and remain, a fan of his.
Allways love your reactions, When you are in your twenties and think back on all the poor decision you made when you where fifteen, well that will repeat it self till end of time, keep up the good work whith your reactions, you must react to the Irish comedian Tommy Tiernan, cheers from Sweden
Omg, you have to find the story on how he lost his finger, for people who haven't seen this, it's megga, I did have have the pleasure of seeing him perform 🎉🎉🎉
Dave Allen is brilliant and as a Scotsman we are close to the Irish and most of us have Irish blood,we don't get to hear too many American or Canadian comics over here as a lot of the content of there jokes goes over our head as I would think you are in the same boat with UK comedians but you mentioned the master when you mentioned George Carlin, what a legend and like Dave Allen he focuses on religion a lot and that is universal humour
When I was young Dave Allen was the only comedian I used to laugh like no other. Today its Rhod Gilbert that can make me laugh as much as back then. Dave was a legend,,, so great to see people watching his comedy now ,, I grew up watching him in Ireland 😊
Grew up watching him, he was amazing 😂
I'm in my mid 50's living in NZ and we would watch him on TV back in the 70's & 80's. He's still just as funny to watch today..
I remember that after Dave Allen died, there were many lovely epitaphs from his friends and family as to what a genuinely nice man he was both onscreen and in private life.

We still quote Dave Allen all these years later. He’s one of the best storytellers ever.

Yeah, when the Catholic Church was powerful enough to get their way, ban was lifted though.
He was a very brilliant man. Close to genius.

Tom O’Connor was great s as he would also turn everyday life into his hilarious perspective.
