I broke my leg in a bunch of places when I was 16, and I was in traction in the hospital for about two weeks. My cast was such that it had my knee bent at about 20°, so they kept it suspended above the bed so there was no pressure on my femur like there would be if my leg were resting on the bed. While I wasn’t quite as hooked up as Homer there, I definitely looked like the TV depictions of people in traction.

Hip replacements are the best! I had both mine replaced in my early 30s due to avascular necrosis which took stubborn doctors years to diagnose because I was so young. Without opioid medications I probably would have killed myself due to pain during that time (and all the time waiting for the surgery) so they really have their place. Not everyone gets addicted to them, some people need them to deal with short term pain and some need it to deal with chronic pain that seriously impacts their bodies and wont allow them to live a meaningful life. I hate that they are always getting hated on when they have their place.

lol I used to have a guide dog myself. Therapy dogs do undergo specific training, but any dog or cat that's just someone’s pet could be an emotional support animal which doesn’t require disability-mitigating task training. There are psychiatric servic dogs that do things like nudge their handler to help with grounding and anxiety management, guide the person to a safe place, etc, but again, since they typically have to be taught how to do all that, those still qualify as a kind of service dog. Fido that's just your average pet, or in this case Plopper the pig, can stay home.

I would not call him a pleasant companion))) if you feed him not with tweezers, but with your hands, there is a good chance that he will bite your finger. plus, he is not very friendly in himself - hisses and scratches worse than any cat, if you need to pick him up. sometimes I think that it would be better if I started a land tortoise. herbivores are essentially calmer than carnivores (and yes, red-eared turtles are aquatic and they are predators)

5:30 I could not be without animals. In my case it is 30 white mice (quite a bunch, because of an urgency in the local shelter, and since the were mums with pubs and prgenat mums, and the suff having 0 experience versus me decades of that, just had to take ALL of them.) and a "wild" wood mouse boy (I got him a a baby, nursed him back to health and raised him. He then stayed docile and "wrongly imprinted", so I could not release him in to the wild. Not that I would complain. He's very dear to me, exactly because he's very special to have, to have survived, for all the effort it took to have him survive. And he's just too cute. All my whities too.
Long story short, even if they are "only" mice (it is sad how downright mean some people think of those clever and curious little fellows) they give me so much. They litterally may have saved my life more than once. I have several mental health issues, including depressions (and yes, anxiety too), at times really devastating and melancholic. It has happened more than once that I was very close to comoletely give up on life, but I took my cuties in to the count, not wanting to leave them behind.
And also in better times, they make me less alone, give me reasons to smile everyday, to get up, to go outside (because I pick fresh hearbs for them, which they love and wait for when I return. And I again can smile watching their antics and their joy when they explore what they got that time).
Of course they are work too, but in the bigger picture, I am very glad to have them and would not miss a single one. I guess it says enough that my therapist ask about their wellbeing on a regular basis. also to bring me back from really bad spots, because I just can't help but be at least a little enlighted only just by thinking of them.
I've had bunnies, guniney pigs and rats in the past (plus some insect species and a tarantula, which are great but really less reactive), but mice give me the most.
I can only imagine having an own dog, cat, pig etc., a pet moving freely in your home and thus taking part in your life even more, just has to deepen these feeling even more.

When you talk about people losing toes, I was expecting you to talk about people who work around heavy machinery who've had their toes chopped off due to the protective functions of Steel Toe Cap Boots as apparently, reattaching severed toes is much easier that trying to save crushed toes.

you talk about the pain of the eardrum, my mother once put a q-tip through my eardrum when she was trying to treat me for an already bad earache, then proceeded to pour hot oil in after the perforation, and it was not a nice experience, all whilst being shouted at to stop crying.. eek.

MEDICAL QUESTION: I work in a hospital kitchen’s dish room, the area in which I break down the dishes has a rather decent amount of black mold (it’s been there for over a year). Unfortunately nothing is being done about it. What exactly would my risks be, and what precautions should I take in the future to minimize any damage this stuff might do.

Wait a minute, at 6:56 where Homer falls into the waterfall It was supposed to be his dummy falling on the rocks then to the water and to the dam, but this showing butt naked homer landed on the rock was shown then showing a clip of ambulance and then waking up in the hospital, I think you got that clip from dark Simpson's channel where it's edit clips cut from one of the episodes from past seasons into one short clip, funny but make a it supposedly dark

    • @j.m.9737
      @j.m.9737 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes!! I came right to the comments to see if real fans would catch that.
The waterfall scene is when Homer is skipping work-he goes behind the bushes and throws a dummy over the waterfall.
The 2 scene when he falls naked is from the Easter special when he's Adam in the garden of Eden. He's trying to impress Eve (Marge) and falls over but it doesn't matter because there's no pain in the Garden.

I have a bunch of pets. My dog, Cinnabon, is pretty much my unlicensed therapy animal. I got her after my wife left, and she definitely helps a lot. I have 6 cats too. One of them walks crooked because she fell on her head as a kitten. I should put them all on leashes and dress up as the Beast Master for Halloween.

One of those clips wasn't actually a real Episode of The Simpsons. It was cut together by the youtuber "Dark simpsons" used under fair use parody and it's the episode he made titled "Homer gets a new hip"
