  • ER Doctor Jordan Wagner is back with doctor reacts to The Simpsons medical scenes part 5. Doctor Wagner, a real life emergency physician Simpsons reaction / real doctor reacts to Simpsons funniest moments, The Simpsons predictions, Simpsons characters, illnesses, and injuries. Doctor Jordan Wagner watches and reacts to THE SIMPSONS and funny classic Simpsons moments and tells us what is accurate and what is not in these funny Simpsons clips.
The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family: Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, and Maggie Simpson. The Simpson family navigate their fair share of injuries and doctor's appointments with Dr. Nick and Dr. Hibbert, but the medical accuracy of these Simpsons clips is questionable, to say the least. Today Doctor Wagner, a real life emergency physician from Experts React on Gamology will be watching and reacting to The Simpsons funny moments and Simpsons best ever clips. Some of The Simpsons best moments from Treehouse Of Horror XXX, The Homer of Seville, Little Girl in the Big Ten, Jaws Wired Shut, and Little Big Mom. In the past The Simpsons have even been credited for correctly predicting a bunch of wild events. Do you watch Simpsons full episodes? If you want Dr. Jordan Wagner to continue making this doctor reaction series please give this video a like and leave a comment on which TV show or medical memes or just funny memes you'd like for him to review next.
This animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbor, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr. Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum.

React to more King of the Hill episodes. A good one is when Hank breaks his nose during football practice for a rematch. The coach puts a pencil and stick in Hank's nose then hits both objects sideways to "reset" his nose; predictably making it worse.

Speaking as a classical singer, yes there is a benifit to laying on your back whilst singing. It obviously does not affect your vocal folds, the vibrations of which are what provide the tone and pitch of your voice, but it does open up your diaphragm and helps you to control your breath easier, which is what allows classical singers to get the power that they get out of their voices.
That being said, laying on your back is not going to make someone with no vocal training sound like an opera singer. You need to know, and be able to use these classical singing techniques before you can get the benefits from lying down whilst singing.
At the end of the day it's pretty redundant because no one is going to hire a professional singer to lay down and sing a song. You need to be able to utilise these techniques whilst standing.
Laying down is useful when you are first learning to sing as it does make certain techniques easier as you are learning them. I must have spent about 1/2 to 3/4 of the first 4 years of my vocal training laying on my back in music rooms and rehearsal spaces as I learned how to use these techniques.

I came here to slightly explain this, but yours is definitely more thought of then mine. I took multiple years choir, even did Honors Choir. We experimented with the pitch and force of sound when sitting up/lying down versus hunched over. Simply compressing airways versus having them open. Even thinking something like a self experiment of try yelling hunched over versus sitting up.

4:41 Your voice changes depending on your position/posture. The vibrations of the vocal chords are indeed what generates the sound but the rib cage and all the other cavities in the skull act as resonators and together with lips, mouth and tongue, are integral part of what modulates and controls the voice. Not to mention that there are positions in which your diaphragm is able to push more air. For example: sitting is usually considered a bad position for singing because we are able to push less air. So yeah, The Simpsons are not completely wrong in that sketch.

In terms of mothers bleeding out...
The uterus has such an extreme blood supply at the end of pregnancy that uncontrolled bleeds from it are like uncontrolled bleeds from major arteries. It's kinda insane how fast one can lose blood from the uterus. As stated here though, it's exceptionally rare. But I've been there when it happens, and the moms can go from fully conscious and normal to unconscious in a matter of minutes. I've been the one that runs the uncrossmatched blood up to LDRP when a mom is bleeding uncontrollably. The infusion pump is practically the size of a garden hose, it's actually rather impressive. And they've infused all 4 units by the time I get back down to the lab. Mind you, 4 units is usually an 8-12 hour process, but when neccessary apparently can be done in a matter of minutes. It's surreal to experience, and thankfully the times I've been involved both mom and baby have safely made it out the other side
Edit: So, quick Google search to put the bleeding in perspective, uterine blood flow in a full term pregnancy is around 1L/min. Mind you, an average adult has around 5 liters of blood (and pregnancy can increase the volume by around a liter, give or take a bit). So you could theoretically lose all your blood in your entire body in about 6 minutes of uncontrolled catastrophic uterine hemorrhage. Mind you, shock would begin to set in after about a minute and a half of such bleeding (around 20% lost total blood volume). Major hemorrhage classification (45% lost blood volume) would occur in less than 3 minutes. It's kinda insane to think about even

    • @lfilm3
      @lfilm3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

True! My choir director had us lie on our backs for breathing exercises and we rehearsed some solos that way. People have a tendency to raise their shoulders when inhaling instead of actually breathing from the diaphragm, and that technique gives more shallow breathing. You're basically training yourself to expand your lungs all the way, which is easier if you're on your back. You do have to be able to sing already though, it won't help you carry a tune or hugely change your vocal quality.

I'm a singer and YES, changing your physical position changes the sound of your voice. We're not encouraged to sing sitting down if we have any other option, by which I mean standing up, because it can compress the line. By which I mean mouth, throat, diaphragm, belly. That's your "air line" as a singer. You don't breathe from your stomach, duh, but you need to have support in that part of your body to get the right tone. You're encouraged to stand up straight, but not tight--relax--and I like to imagine singing from my toes, because the lower down your air base, the more power you can generate. All five feet of me, but I'm a contralto, so I DO have a powerful voice when everything is lined up properly. Don't sing on your back. Not generally recommended. Your air comes from your lungs, your force comes from your stomach.

Weird fact relating to the infection you can get from an insect bite. We have this spider in the aus called the white tip or white tail (I'm not sure if you have it in America). Anyway my friend and I always understood that if you get bitten it can cause this horrendous permanent necrotic ulcer thing with their bite. So we freaked out when she got bitten by one. She was fine...as it turned out/ what we learned in the ER Is that it's not their venom that causes it...but if they have been somewhere that contains necrotising fascitis where they can carry it to someone when they bite them. Even we didn't know that as nurses....and that's how I found out that how bites can sometimes work. We've had a recent run up here of mosquitos that can potentially carry the Murray Valley encephalitis virus. Thanks a lot insects.

LMAO! Great one! Broke my humerus in Greece by being hit by a car while riding on the back of a motorcycle. The Greeks put a cast on me hours after it happened and the stupid leg was so swollen. Days later the swelling went down and I could almost spin that cast around my leg. Had to be recasted in the States.

Hey, the one where Bart is bitten and has the panda on his arm actually reminds of something that happened to me. I was in the desert and looking at native american drawings (petroglyphs?), when I was bitten or stung (not sure which) by a really small, barely there bug (pretty positive not a mosquito).
Almost immediately, it started itching and hurting quite a bit. Even though when i got home I put tea tree oil on it. That did nothing to relieve it. The next morning, I woke up to blood on my sheet where my arm was. I scratched it in my sleep until it turned into a big sore. It even got infected, despite best efforts. It's healed but it left a quarter sized scar on my arm. I still don't know what that bug was.

I surprised Dr. Wagner didn't notice or speak about the Crayon that's lodged firmly into Homer's Brain in the X-Ray.
Its all made up as one color so it doesn't really "stand out" so it'd definitely be Easy to miss if you weren't looking directly at it.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that milk is actually better than water for stashing a knocked-out tooth that you are hoping to get re-attached. I don't quite remember the details, but apparently it has something to do with milk providing conditions that are more like your mouth.

@6:58, I've actually had a broken jaw and I would communicate with hand gestures to indicate stuff like I was hungry (useful if you wanna get out of something boring or uncomfortable, I will admit).
How did the EMTs know right away that I had a broken jaw? I told them by writing it; paper and a writing utensil REALLY helped, and thank gosh I always carry either a pen, a pencil, or a marker with me.

"Children don't fly out like that-" According to my mother, I might as well have. I was slightly premature, so she tried to hold me in a bit too long, and when she got to the delivery room I apparently "came out like a baseball."
... And backward, with the cord around my neck. Only lasting side-effects I'm aware of is the blindness. I'd say "so that was fun," but apparently I came out screaming, also, and Mom needed stitches, so ... whatever the opposite of fun is.

This was probably one of the Halloween episodes I don't remember as well cuz I do remember scenes when Marge was pregnant with all of the kids but yeah Bart was her first kid then Lisa then Maggie and the only time I have ever heard of a baby just kind of coming out without a struggle with like somebody who gave birth in the car on the way to the hospital and like they hit a bump in the baby just like fell out but I bet most people wish their deliveries were that easy I mean not that the baby was undersized or anything just that it was that quick and less problematic than usual but you'd ideally not have your baby in a car on the way to the hospital because you know the driver is going to go into flat out panic mode cuz he can't deal with you while also trying to get you safely to the hospital and then there's the baby too so you're going to have to deal with the baby and all that well he's trying to pull over whatever is it hopefully somebody has a cell phone and call the ambulance from there to pick you up and he can follow them or something cuz that that just seems very very problematic but the only time I've seen a baby like shoot out was in a super bowl commercial and I don't even remember what the hell it was for but basically the baby comes shooting out of the vagina through the wall just around the world and becomes an old man while it's still flying and then finally crash lands into a grave and it was something like life is short do blah blah blah or something along those lines
