I am 59 years old and I have been fighting acne for all of my adulthood. About 5 years ago I came across the SAL3, sulfur and salicylic acid containing, soap and started using it. The results were incredible. I had never before found a product that made such a significant impact on reducing my acne. However, after using the product for a few months, I realized that all of my clothing and bed sheets started to reek of sulfur. Not good. But then for some reason, the SAL3 soap was removed from the market. But the best part of this story is that is when I found the company DermalHarmony and their 10% sulfur and 3% salicylic acid soap. Not only is it just as effective and reducing my acne, but the sulfur that they use is in a different form and doesn't smell. I can't recommend their product enough.
Thanks for sharing your drugstore acne must-haves, Budget Dermatologist! I've heard great things about DermalMD Acne Serum and I'm so excited to try it out now. It's great to know that there are affordable options out there for those of us struggling with acne. Looking forward to more of your shopping recommendations!
My grocery store has this and I really like it. No fragrance. Good also for under arms, bsck etc. Just wear white clothing lol . AcneFree Severe Acne Benzoyl Peroxide Deep Cleansing Face Wash $8.99 5 ounces
Videos are so informative I have a question, what about regular skin care routine and acne topical treatments- how do we combined them so it does the purpose? Thanks in advance
Great video. I suffer with adult acne. I use aklief, paulas choice but not sulfur. Also, I'm not consistent, i need to get better. Going to cvs today to get few items you recommended. ❤
This is a fantastic video! Thank you for including super budget friendly ideas like store brands etc. Question- should you use the sulfur wash in the morning or night routine?
Adapalene is prescription only in the UK where I live for some reason, but family docs can prescribe it so I got my GP to prescribe. I got the cream version over the gel version of differin, as my skin is on the dry side.
You are doing an amazing job 👏👏 just curious to know if you can suggest some acne spot removal budget products and simple routine not overwhelming please would be much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
Adapalene transformed my skin - great brightness and improved texture achieved over the years. I started it to treat my acne - it has made a big difference however I still breakout regularly but not as badly as before. Now trying some more BPO regularly, the combo of the two together (Epiduo) is too strong to handle for my sensitive skin. In the AM I use Azelaic acid to treat redness and scars.

❤❤❤Hello ❤ which Brand benzoyl peroxide is better?? And how I pair sylisylic acid cleanser and adaplane gel and benzoyl peroxide plus Clindamycin gel and sulfar plz make a detailed video ❤❤❤❤
What do you recommend when every time I try to moisturize my face (even after using Adapalene), my skin breaks out? I’m using oil-free and non-comodegenic products. I’m so sick of dry skin but it’s better than the acne… I need help
How does sulfur compare to Benzoyl Peroxide? Is there a point is using both at the same time? Does sulphur have the same potential for irritation as BP? Does it have different downsides?
The downsides (for me) using sulfur masks is that it can be drying and it does "stink" even after I wash it off. I haven't used BP since my early 20s, it didn't work for me. Sulfur is great for demodex too, which I think was the reason I had acne.
You as a dermatologist should of all people know that it's impossible to fix acne fast with a topical treatment. Please take into consideration that all acne sufferers, me included, are very susceptible to these kinds of promises. Before we know we buy our 100th cream although we know it most probably won't work as well as we were led to believe. Adult acne is a tough issue to fix even with medicine let alone with even the best researched creams on the market(e.g. with such ingredients as adapalene, tetinoin, etc) I like your videos in general but I honestly believe you should be careful about what you promise to people😢

Thank you for this tip. I'm looking it up. Could use some.
Thank you. My face is getting better with following your cleansing advice. I will get this as Mt next step. My face has not been clear in 40 years.

It used to be prescription only in the US, too. Changed to over the counter in 2016.
