      CAP's bumpers in amazon are way cheaper than any of the suggested ones (either budget or better versions)

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@abimaelmartinezcarrete4264 sure but they're cheaper for a reason. I'd watch the bumper buyer's guide for an in depth breakdown on why and the quality differences between bumpers. If you're looking for the cheapest stuff we've got a build for that as well but here we've got more money to work with.

    • @abimaelmartinezcarrete4264
      @abimaelmartinezcarrete4264 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GlucksGym I watched the breakdown, but I didn't see how budget options stack against the super-budget (besides the bar in the metal ring). And in my head, cheap bumpers will last a long time in a home gym, and for 50% a piece, I can just replace them once they fail (if they actually do).

      @@abimaelmartinezcarrete4264I bought some of those plates (45lbs) The hole in the middle of the was at a 10 degree angle to what it should be so the plate sat at a slant on the bar. I returned them and bought Titan instead, they are decent quality these days and always running deals.

    Just a FYI there are two different types of stall mats. You want to buy the URLB ones or something with the word urethane in the marketing. They smell/off gas considerably less than the other kind. They cost the same.

    Definitely agree that the overwhelming majority of people should start their first homegym with USED equipment. This lets you know if you were honest with yourself and how frequently you will use a home gym. This helps you to figure out what you like and don't like before you buy new equipment effectively sight unseen. Lastly, you can put it back on the second hand market for pretty much the exact same price you paid for it when you are ready to upgrade or realize that home gyms aren't for you. Bonus: if you want to keep a commercial membership but also want some home gym equipment - used equipment hurts the wallet a lot less in this case.

    I recently went with the Bells Of Steel Light Commercial 5.1 power rack and I'm very happy with it. Got it on sale for about $600.
    Pros:
    Includes sandwich and roller J cups
    Includes safety straps
    Large internal depth about 40''
    Flat Footed
    Very sturdy
    Cons:
    There is a crossmember that connects the back two uprights and it makes setting up some bench movements a little more complicated
    uprights are 2.3x2.3 so the attachment ecosystem is limited

    At about 8:10 you indicate that you can use Titan spotter arms on the Rep 1100. I have a PR-1100 and have thought about buying Titan spotter arms to use with it.
    Two questions:
    (1) Have you actually tried the Titan spotter arms on the PR-1100? More specifically, do they really work together?
    (2) You indicate that the because the PR-1100 and T-2 holes don’t match, you can’t use the pin that comes with the spotter arms with the PR-1100. If you fail a lift and the bar hits the spotter arms, will they rotate without the pins in place? Are there good workarounds, like using clamps so the spotter arms won’t rotate?
    Thanks. I consistently watch your channel and have learned a lot from you.

For bodybuilding, the cult of Crossfit or general weight lifting for all round fitness. Using Standard means quality bars are a quarter of the price new, let alone used. The weight plates are even cheaper! Olympic weights and bars are a complete waste of money for the vast majority of trainers!

      @@GlucksGym Have you tried the Vesta? It's got an even better pad than the Rogue. I was gonna get the Giant but it's the best value for the money out there. Mine came in a few weeks ago and I'm super impressed with it and glad I didn't get the Rep. No reviews on TH-cam either just a few Reddit comments.
      Only issue I had is one of the tabs on the main back brace was a little over tightened so had a slight bend I'm going back and forth trying to get a replacement. Doesn't seem to compromise structure but I wanna play it safe.

    My tip is don’t buy dumbbells, and use the money on a higher quality bar (or two), rack and bench or accessories. Make getting the barbell you like the number 1 priority. Aim for doing a few things very well rather than a bunch of things that have hardware so poor in quality you end up not using them.

    13lbs is logical because you add the 1lb collars to the end to make it an even 15lbs.

    my gym (minus upgraded attachments like spotter arms or roller j-cups):
    *these are estimates I don’t remember the prices over the past 3 years of building my gym*
    Fitness Reality Power Rack with Lat Pull Down Attached ≈ $500
    Vulcan Bench ≈ $195
    Force USA MyBench ≈ $410
    Ohio Powerbar from Boneyard ≈ $240
    PowerBlock Sport Exp 2.5-90 ≈ $650
    ~1000lb+ ≈ $1550
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    $3,545
    I have a lot of plates so an average set : (2x 2.5 5 25 35 | 4 x 10 45) ≈ $700
    I also have two benches one IPF standards one FID : (FID MyBench) ≈ $410
    so really the total is ≈ 2,260 (with stage one of power blocks only)
    I like my build, I am able to do a lot of and made a DIY cable cross over and upgraded over time. Love my home gym well worth it. I invested more money in my bench, bar, and majority of my weights (strength co and most of my 45’s were from FBMarket).
    I recommend Facebook Market :)
    I’m cheap as shit and let me tell you Walmart plates Metal or rubber work just fine. I bought bumper plates off Walmart for just under a dollar a pound and drop and slam the shit out of them and they’re fine. The weight is almost spot on too. Also the Metal I think mine are cap I honestly don’t know, all I know is I give them hell and they’re fine too.
