- As part of the Fab launched ( gamefromscratc... ), Epic Games have made the ENTIRE Quixel MegaScans catalog free. There is a catch though, you have to "buy" them before the end of 2024, but then they are yours to use free forever.
Oh and they also made the entire process a 1-click redemption making it extremely easy. You can also easily use these assets legally in any game engine or DCC tool, as you can see in this video where I show an asset in Blender and the Godot game engine.
Just make sure you complete the process before the end of 2024 when the price goes back to normal!

It's one thing to point out free assets but the detail in which you cover this, including any potential restrictions and which projects can use them, is much appreciated! As always, great work.

@@wyattbiker I'm pretty sure you get ownership of all of them when you sign up. Would be pretty silly otherwise, and likely would have been stated very clearly if that was the case. The fact that it wasn't clearly stated is what leads me to believe I'm just over-thinking this lol 😂

It's this type of sentiment ("Can't wait for all the asset flips!") that made it much easier for Unity to justify not releasing the Gigaya project.
These were all available for free for unreal engine users for years, it's already happened by now
Our personal vault / library stuff is now available in the FAB.
okay we needa stop acting like nanite is the ultimate solution to lods, nanite will not lower the ram usage if your model has a billion vertices, just increased render times. ram is very important to performance, and people are forgetting that.
nanite also causes shimmering artifacts that need to be blurred by TAA in a distance. which proxy models dont cause

It's the same problem that nearly all tech has always had where Microsoft devs would have 8gb of ram when the average man would have 256 mb so microsoft office would buffer like crazy and a manager went around ripping ram out of machines I would say nearly all people developing have 32 64 96 or 128 gb of ram while the average person has 8 16 or for really high end machines 32

Honestly, if you're a 3D artists it doesn't really make a huge amount of sense to make assets for games anymore, instead better to make assets for 3d Printing where you can charge 3X for the same product and you don't even need to provide a commercial license.
i massively disagree. most of these assets are made for a specific style and purpose and (no offence) tend to end up in asset flip type games. and not every game runs in unreal engine, sure photo realistic art is getting easier but Good and specialized art that matches a specific aesthetic and functionality is not something you can buy from some asset store. big studios know this so they make their assets from scratch even when stuff like this exists.

I noticed they mentioned plans to introduce Roblox and Minecraft formats. I mean, Quixel assets have been pirated on Roblox for years now, but I am curious how these Minecraft formats would work. What does a Minecraft format even mean?
It's cool that they are giving them away but to use any of these in a game I assume you will need to do some considerable poly reduction, considering a wooden bucket is over 300MB in size.

my unreal marketplace purchases is already on the new fab marketplace, so I assume everything will be transported to the new marketplace.

There is no way yet to drag and drop the Megascans into UE like we did with the Quixel bridge, right?
the good thing is finally we own quixel asset license to use in another engine

Hi! I have a problem accessing my Epic Games account on the FAB website. The registration page does not load or the error message "Unfortunately, something went wrong" appears.

That's cool, but that's for super realistic content. It has its uses, but I'd probably go for something simpler. Still might be useful.
I wish they would make the store show different currencies. Like unity & epic have currency conversions, but so far, I haven't seen the option for FAB

3:12 if it was random when you selected before recording, then it remains random. Randomness totally carries through scene changes.

im bit confused, in my library i have some the tree ones, like Common Hazel, if i click on download, i get a popup -Unreal Engine files are available in your Vault in the Epic Games Launcher, or the Fab UE5 Plugin. So this is still only for Unreal Engine ? or i can load them in unreal and export them out for other engines ?
they are made specifically for unreal, but you can export them

ohh Damm.... those files are big for texture. +200mb for one model that crazy.
They are called "megascans" for a reason; their pixel resolution is crazy high so you have as much detail as you want for references. Having a method to downsample them for space in projects is a must, unless you're targeting very high-end machines in games or focusing on high fidelity renders.

Unlike free distribution assets such as UE5, it is not a format that can be downloaded from the library at any time after purchase. Please note that the only way to retain these huge amounts of free assets is to actually download and retain the asset data within 2024.

If you claim any Megascans on FAB before 2025, you will be able to download those even beyond that.
It would appear that all the assets have been downloaded, but they do not appear in the Fab.... library. How can I be sure I've actually downloaded them?
Is there any restriction of Epic Contents? Like previously when it comes to epic content we were allowed to use them only in unreal engine for free.

How do you correctly import the FBX files? It seems like the textures arent working.
You need to recreate the materials. It's easier to use glb in those cases

Little bit sad it cannot be used in Godot. But I might look at UE at some point in the future and it is no brainer to claim this in any case
They can be used in Godot? Some of the assets are only available in UE formats but a large amount of them can be imported into Godot without too many issues.

@@numipinkpanda5486no I'm pretty sure you are allowed to use the Quixel assets for any game engine. It says there either in the Fab Standard license or the Fab Quixel page. I forgot which one but the previous video on Fab earlier today had that near the end too. Epic wants this store to be the place for all art stuff so they have Unity stuff as well like plugins and models and textures etc. They said they wanna add support for Roblox and minecraft assets later down the line as well.

I would think they should work like any other assets, as long as you claimed them they should now be linked to your account forever. It actually wouldn't make much sense for Epic to require you to download them all because they would have tons of people overloading their servers trying to download hundreds of gigs of assets.
Nope download them as you need them. Just make sure you Redeamed them in 2024
As long as you redeem/grab/get/claim/add to your library all the assets by clicking the button before 2025, they are yours forever, no gimmicks,

I am not strongly against AI or anything, I think the technology is cool personally, but I will mention all Quixel assets are tagged as No-AI,. You would be breaking the Fab EULA by using them as such.
