Yess! It was used for concept art, 3D matte painting, and lighting tests, among other things. And on Across the Spider-Verse, Blender's Grease Pencil even saw some use for inklines. The final render, however, was completed via Sony Pictures Imageworks' in-house systems, using Arnold. Maybe one day we'll see a Spider-Verse film that's fully rendered in Eevee NPR 🔥
@@RenderRides I hope it makes more people know blender and also brings more donations so they can keep growing the software!! Nice video by the way, really interesting to watch

Hey! I see this is your first comment, welcome to the channel! :D Photorealism has been the standard in Blender for ages, but this build is finally breaking new ground and shifting that narrative. DillonGoo even highlighted this in his video! The title was planned in advance to match the topic, but I realize I forgot to address it explicitly in the video. Since my content is for fellow Blender artists, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What title do you think would grab attention and help maximize the reach of this exciting news? Let me know!
@@RenderRides the title is just not the video is about. it's that simple. Why would doing NPR renders becoming easier be the end of photorealism its just 2 different things. You can save this title for later if they remove cycles in the future.
@@RenderRides Your current title states that they are removing photorealistic rendering, which is not true. Something more akin to "The beginning of easy NPR in Blender" would be more descriptive.
Photorealism is not end. Blender animator is. With quickmagic AI, Rokoko face capture, and Cascadeur: blender animator is end lol. Unreal Animation is rising...
True, it does sound dramatic, but remember when Grease Pencil became a full 2D/3D animation tool? That completely changed how artists approached hybrid workflows in Blender. Sometimes these updates really do reshape the way we create!
Well, the thumbnail does say exactly what the video is about, so it’s all about finding that balance between creating enough intrigue to get people watching and delivering enough value that they do not leave dissatisfied. Hope you enjoyed the content!
@@RenderRides if your mic still picks up pops even with a pop filter, try not having it face your mouth directly. Put it slightly sideways and work on your distance from it, extend your pinky and your thumb that's how far you need to be from your mic unless you do ASMR. You welcome.

0:32 the last Spiderverse movie was literally made using Blender

Ok didn’t get up to the party where you mentioned it being used
That's fine! Because you commented, people who are curious will get to know the other ways in which it was used too! Hope you enjoyed the video btw :)
this comment is pretty misleading
Vaughan Ling used blender for concept art on the first spiderverse movie too

Realism is also timeless. As long as reality exists, there will be artists wanting to imitate it in various mediums, including Blender.
