    Yaaaay you're back!! I have a question, what's the difference between using a bump image instead of using the extrusion process that you did?
    Waiting for part two!! cheers!!

      Excellent question. In part 2, I discuss why I chose the extrusion over the bump / normal map image. But for the sake of time; I chose the extrusion process, because in Cinema 4D, when applying texture maps to spheres (using only the in-app textures available), there's a tendency for the primitive sphere to polarize the texture map, essentially pinching the texture at both polar ends of the sphere, distorting the texture map. So unless you have a 3rd party texturing software, like Substance designer via allegorithmic, the extrusion process is one of the best solutions that I've found (so far).

    If you are in R23 when "Mesh->Add->Subdivide", the whole mesh is selected, not only the previous lines but also the pentagons. To solve that, before subdividing it, make a set selection of the lines so you can reselect them later.

      also clicking polygon mode before adding subdividion will work too

    It seems like for the new version of C4D R23, you have to go to Mesh > Add > Subdivide. But when I do this, all the hexagons are selected as well, so I can't go to the next step. Could you advise on what to do?

    • @Colorcubic
      @Colorcubic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got it. I’ll test that today, and get back to you momentarily. Stand by.

      @@Colorcubic alright i figured it out,it's in my version of cinema4d,when i tried a lower version and do it again all went fine,in a higher version you can't just select all then click subdivide because the polygon and hexagon will not separate,you must first click the edge mode then select all then click polygon mode then click subdivide,that will do it

      Thanks for the heads up! There’s a lot of new content in the works and on the way, so feedback like this is great. I’ll be sure to update this tutorial with info on newer versions of C4D. Currently familiarizing myself with S22.
