Great video! Long time player here. Destiny recipes vault cleaner has great tools for making good decisions about what weapons to keep or shard. It’s my go to when my vault fills up. One suggestion If you have an armor problem (which I often do) is to use d2 armor picker to identify your best possible builds and save them in DIM. Once you have them saved in DIM you can select “keep if in loadout” in the vault cleaner. It makes it much easier to decide if the armor is actually useful, or if it’s going to sit in your vault forever taking up space until you delete it. I cleared 50+ pieces of armor last week after finishing my builds.

Another easy thing is once you have all the items you are gonna delete highlighted in DIM is you can click on the menu on one of your characters and hit "Transfer search to character" and it'll allow you to pull all the items onto that character to delete them. Rinse and repeat until they're all gone

You can also just select the items in DIM and press P. It’s a hotkey for “transfer to current player”. No need to enter the vault and sort by newest. It’ll be the piece that blinks in your inventory. That’s how I do it at least.
I'm @590/600 and that's after deleting like 300 items and collecting new ones (grinded a bunch of GMs). I can honestly say that I have a lot of stuff that's mostly god rolls. I'm also fairly certain that 80% of my items will never see the light of day outside the vault. Sometimes, it just sucks to be a Destiny player 😕

I use Vault Cleaner about twice a month, especially after new content has been dropped like the seasonal activities. When a new DLC is out, Vault Cleaner takes a while to catch up to weapon analysis, which means some weapons aren't rated yet so you have to just look at it and decide. Either way, don't just assume VC will make YOUR best choices. Look at all of them, just in case. For example I have an autoloading/vorpal Seventh Seraph Saw it keeps telling me to delete. No way! It's my favorite LMG for arc duty. Things like that.
Yes, this is very true. Part of why i had an asterisk by "good and bad rolls" is because if you're not super comfortable with rolls yet it a pretty good guide. But yes, definitely not perfect especially for folks who are more seasoned and familiar with the game. Appreciate you taking the time to view!
@@lukeashe8313 I tag lots of weapons but with VC you still need to make it a setting before sorting that tells it to keep tagged/favorite weapons otherwise it'll put them where it thinks they should go.
The best advice I can give people is to learn to categorize different loot. Especially weapons. Keep weapons that are the best of the best in pve. Play with all your pvp weapons and you will be surprised with which ones you hate using over the other.
At 7:49 is that really a visual error? Cause that doesn't only show the vault items, but also the 10spaces in each slot(8) of each character(3)+ postmaster(21)*3 , that is 240+63+600 So we gave 903 spaces in total, isn't it
My biggest problem is I know what I like for my particular playstyle; however, I sometimes will join my clan for a raid, and they start asking if I have this or that. Deleting something I may not know I need is what scares me. Also, given Destiny's penchant for changing the metas so frequently is I may have something right now that's trash, but next season is God tier.
this is actuallyt a really great point and something i working on for a follow up video, but i probably wont have ready until next season. but yeah know what gear is going to be good regardless of the season and seasonal mods vs things that are only situational good just takes time and practice. this guide specifically is for getting your vault down to a manageable number once you do that knowing what archetypes and perks fit you best is the next step.

The reality is that we need more vault space. Why we are having to make hard choices on what to delete is ridiculous. Anybody who has a few thousand hours of time in this game is running low on vault space. It's crazy that we have virtually only gotten an increase like what, once or twice since this games release and that's been over the course of 5 f-cking years. Give us 1K spaces and/or the ability to increase it with glimmer, bright dust, etc. Then on top of that, they cap our ascendant shards and enhancement prisms, so we're forced to use them once they get backed up in the mailbox. They cap the amount of elements we get from red border weapons so when we get more, we have to either hold onto them, thus taking up more space, because we don't want to trash them, so when we craft a new weapon, we can dismantle the red border to replace the elements we just used or we delete them to save space, but wasting elements in the process. Absurd and a total sh-t show of game design.
You skipped the end step of destinyrecipes. You didn't cliok the lock/unlock button. You can get it to mark the ones to delete as Junk this way you don't have to do the tedious unlocking stage.

DON'T do that. I spent an hour clearing and shit, then pressed that but nothing locked/unlocked and you cant go back to your checklist screen, so i pretty much did all of it for no reason
D2checklist has the safe way to put Junk tags into your character. Try it out, it doesn’t have the bugs that DestinyRecipe and DIM have. Also for DestinyRecipes, first round do all the recommended junks, derez them, and then second round manually move things into the red column. This will save time and piece of mind.
Is there a tool or is it already offered that will help me organize weapons and armor that can’t be obtained because they are random roll? I have a full vault as well and I can cut out mist if the exotics except DMT and Hawkmoon so far.
yeah definitely dig in a give it a try. if you haven't been on in 3yrs or more it might even be worth getting rid of most things that aren't exotics (or armor with 65+ rolls) and starting over. the metas have changed so much and as of this season (season 22) Bungie has created ways to get weapons from previous seasons, which also have updated perk pools, so a clean slate approach might work better for you. ultimately whatever works best for you and how much time you have to commit to grinding for new weapons
These are 3rd party apps you can access from your phone or computer then when you're ready to delete things you can login on your PS5 to delete things. Hope this helps!
We should make some noice on social media to get more space from Bungie…they should give us 2000, new weapons, especially if you play all 3 Chars, you need armor for the different builds and 600 slots are just ridiculous

To my knowledge, yes, sparrows and ships count towards the overall total. Fortunately as long as they are unlocked in your collections you can delete them to save space in the short term and get them back later from collections if you want them. Armor and weapons are what you have to be more cautious about deleting since you'd be deleting a specific roll. Certain weapons you can grind again but many you can't. Check out Light dot gg dot com for weapons and rolls.
It is a bit of a pain but definitely worth it if 1) you're newer to the game and want to know the basic of cleaning your vault or 2) looking for a helpful tool to manage your loot progression from the game.
This app kinda sucks /: I dont think it's being updated anymore. Seems a little broken when I try using it... Bunghole really needs to revamp the way the Vault & everything is. Of all the loot based games I've played, Destiny 2's arguably has the worst item management.

did i miss something, all my items are by default unlocked so I have to select ever item one at a time that is greyed out and lock it?

my vault count is always low because i just use the same 30-40 weapons in every activity because they're fun (not counting exotics)

I dont get how you copy the link to paste inside of DIM once finished at destiny recipes that marks what you selected for deletion.
There's a button that says copy. Then you either put that into a text file or just copy it into the dim search when you're in inventory
