Thanks for the video! I'll try to apply some of the recommendations (I definitely need Vault space). One crucial aspect that applies to my case is the fact I barely play now so I have to be more careful than other players when dismantling gear, since my chances of later getting something better or equivalent are small.
Yeah, my actual problem is I'm a buildcrafting addict so like half the guns in my vault are "I wanna try this later because it sounds fun." I never really feel the need to clean down past 550 or so (I have vault spaces, might as well use 'em) so I'm also not really punished for this behavior. I do think a LOT of people keep guns they will actually never use, and certainly some of those guns in my vault are gonna get dismantled too.
Agreed, a lot of my weapons are for a very specific purpose that I haven’t gotten around to actually trying lmao My latest endeavor was getting a discord harmony riiswalker for a no backup plan titan build. XD
I keep a big collection of adept trials weapons. I’ve had several go through perk changes and result in a new god roll. This has happened with Iggy, messenger and immortal for sure. They’re changing the Mets much more often and it’s good to keep a collection of rolls for adepts as they rotate out.
I'll definitely look at some of this advice later. We play very differently, I like to play with A LOT of different underused stuff, so my vault is going to be a little fuller, but the advice will probably be usable for a semi cleaming
On armor stats: your total potential is limited by the stats of the exotic you are building for. You only have 3 legendary pieces to add to the mix to get your total stats…want high discipline but your exotic has 2 dis? Get farming/focusing. My general theory is the same as yours- i only keep armor with 2 str ans 2 mob (except for hunter) and that makes deciding which armor to keep a lot simpler. I am going to make loadouts and then ID exotics that require farming and try to keep legendary armor that is good but needs a better exotic…remember to watch your prisms as you dismantle bad amor bc they dont go to postmaster so turn them into golf balls asap. Also remember about focusing seasonal engrams to farm better armor…and always pick up the seasonal artifact at the beginning of the next season so you earn engrams to farm
YES, please make a Dim video. Also, not all of us know our weapons like you do, so I do keep ones that I think may be good. Knowledge is power and I simply have neither.
RIP people who dismantled their old sunset weapons after being told millions of times after this video, only for them to be usable again. (Really all that matters is the kill trackers though lol)
Destiny vault cleaner is a great tool. It’s pretty much the only way I clean my vault since you can sort the items pretty well and decide what to keep.
My problem is, every time I delete a weapon, the following week, every Destiny TH-camrs are soloing GMs with THAT exact rolled weapon, calling it "Thee God roll" lol. I get so mad at myself, because I hear EVERYONE using it, but don't have it lol Thanks for the video!
I agree with most of this, but I will say I dont see the point in deleting exotics (weapons) if you already have +100 spaces. They are about the only thing that bungie does change in the meta occasionally that you dont need to re-obtain. Except the craftable ones evidently. So why waste materials/infusion/effort pulling them from collections. Again when you have the space already and arent near full
@SovietAssault69 it's the upgrade modules that are the main cost, but my point is why, if you have the space, not just keep them? It's literally free to leave them there
@@iKnownot999 it's also kinda hard to cite upgrade modules as a reason not to delete stuff when I know people sitting on thousands of enhancement cores
I tag every item I own in DIM, and aggressively use filters and saved searches to do just about everything Glad to see someone else is annoyed seeing people with every slot in their inventory full lmao My only real problem is an excess of armour but I'm gonna make a bunch of builds before Final Shape, just for some extra cleaning I don't really need it, I have around 400/600, but it'll be nice to declutter even more
It’s worth sacrificing maybe 30-50 slots (dependant on how much PvP you play) of your vault for PvP 15 slots for Armor for each Class and then 15 slots for Weaponry (primary and special) do not use slots for heavy weapons as for the most part PVP heavy weapons are overkill and you will most likely be using an Eager edge sword anyway
Weapons are the hardest part to obtain. This game core aspect is getting the right roll so it drives me up walls how much effort is needed for the crafted stuff. All the crafted weapon drops are irrelevant unless the very roll I wanted to craft drops... which will be dismantled to moment i get the pattern. I am using Aegis' spreadsheet to find the "best" weapon type for each element though. Its pretty clear some weapons output more damage so the likes of Ikelos SMG got dismatled now that Subjunctive exists. Happy to flex the only lengendary armor I carry is what I have on. When Duality drops was bugged I farmed the hell out it. Even then though RNG still screwed me over and never got a hunter helm to drop. From there though any armor piece with stats numbers below 66 is auto demolished. Leaves me with just extoics which if it beats my previous copy then i'll infuse it.
One example for old weapons becoming meta would be the double slug DSC days (~season 12) with First In, Last Out being the best energy slug at that time. Most people didn't save one from the previous seasons and were now stuck having to use a worse alternative. You're obviously correct though, there are no recent examples that I can think of.
I only just use armor with 100 resil and as for weapons I know what I like and use already. Other than a few weapons Im after and the brave weapons I already have pretty much everything. I might get into more advanced things like this in the future but with college, life, etc. I just don't have the time. I just clean my vault rarely if I need slots I'll just get rid of something I know I wont use or have an alternative for. I'll spend lots of time with certain advanced things in D2 and other things I'm just like, "I don't have time to get X so I'll just stick with what I have." And 95% of the time has worked for me. Im still able to do endgame content just fine. The only thing I really need to grind for is pvp armor but I don't play pvp at all right now. Maybe later and even then Im only going for tier 3 resil and tier 10 recov and intellect and maybe some discipline if I can get it but again that's a whole new grind I don't have time for.
It's worth mentioning that Bungie has made old weapons BiS with a new release in the past. For Beyond Light FILO went from useless to meta, and the same with Cartesian Coordinate in season 15. They haven't done it in a while but that's not to say it can't ever happen again.
That’s the toughest part especially if you do both PvE and PvP. In PvP things like Headseeker, Zen Moment and Under-Ober went from throw away perks to BiS. Also, changing the values to make weapons that were considered throwing to BiS like auto rifles.
FILO was already good before BL, and I'd like to think most people understood the assignment with Cartesian as well (also I wouldn't consider Cartesian to be an absolute essential, just a nice to have)
Here's some DIM filters I use for cleaning up my vault that others might find useful. All non-crafted weapons that you have the unlocked pattern for: /* craftable dupes */ is:patternunlocked -is:crafted Find everything you want to keep that's not at max power, and everything you want to ditch that is max power. Great for making sure everything you want to keep is at 1810: /* to infuse */ ((tag:keep or tag:favorite) -is:maxpower) or ((tag:junk or tag:infuse) is:maxpower) My alternative to the 1 weapon loadouts, a filter that lets you move everything off your current character to the vault ready for a dismantle session: /* not junk on current char */ -tag:junk is:incurrentchar -is:equipped (is:weapon or is:armor) Finally, a filter for moving all the junk to your current character. This filter means you don't have to wait for DIM to sync your dismantled items, you can just keep telling it to move things to your character. /* junk */ tag:junk -is:incurrentchar
My brother asked me how I'm able keep my vault so clean comparatively, especially regarding weapons, and the first thing I thought of was how certain weapons mean I just don't care about others; the box is ticked, so-to-speak - BxR, for example, has been craftable for a while, and has existed for a little while longer, so any other Solar Pulse is automatically irrelevant to my mind. I'm also looking for specific combos on things, like I'm really wanting an Elsie's Rifle with Repulsor Brace and and Destabilising Rounds, so I'm scrapping every roll I get that doesn't have that combo.
The big problem with this topic is that very few people are familiar enough with weapons, perk synergies and build crafting to be able to evaluate a real good (or god) roll. Not everyone is able to delve so deeply into the matter and sort out rolls effectively. I know I would actually have to delete all sidearms, shotguns, snipers and glaives since I don't use them. They're just not my kind of weapons. I'm currently trying to familiarize myself with SMGs so that I can better decide what feels good to me. But I'm also the type of player who needs to have at least one weapon for every element of every weapon type. Just in case you need them. 😅 If you're doing a tutorial for DIM, it would be cool if you show how to create our own wish lists. 🙂
I use this similar mindset, despite that I'm sitting around 500, but I'm not most people and just let my vault cap out almost instantaneously. I still have select weapons I enjoy using but most gear I've been getting nowadays were either compare to my current options or instant dismantle, which allowed me to not cap my vault. I also don't have that mindset of, what if this weapon/perk becomes meta and hoard almost every weapon because powercreep is a thing and some of these people don't realize it. Great video as always.
Why did this age like milk? I’m a returning player that hasn’t played since like shadowkeep. Trying to figure out if any of my old stuff is worth keeping
@@hunterwhitener5650 Bungie is reversing sunsetting when they launch Final Shape on June 4th. That's not to say that Datto doesn't have mostly good points, but I'm sure glad I didn't toss a few of my sunset weapons.
Bruh I used "some" of these tips and got dammit deleted damn near 200 weapons!! Also a good tip if you don't like a weapon archetype don't save it hoping for some future buff just let it go. I'm not a fan or high impact pulses but I had plenty in my vault hoping one day I'd "get good" with them waste of space
I'd be stoked if you went through a build guide for the kind of content you play. Specifically mod set ups and such, you've kind of already covered armor and weapons and such.
My vault is full of sunset weapons that I do not use anymore, but just looking at them reminds me of everything I went through, all seasons played, since launch of the game. Of course it's sentimental, and I will definitely not feel good if I literally have to delete all of them...
Thank you so much for this, I will be honest I'm the type that keep two rolls of every weapon one for PvE and the other for PVP and that is because i love trying new builds and new weapons and because of this I have an issue of keeping my Vault lower than 550, example my Gnawing hunger with double perks is my favorite but i don't run it since there is a better void 600 with Onslaught and repulser and an origin trait, but I can't delete it because it feels rare. After this video I actually might delete most of my weapons because yes, gone are the days with different shield affinities.
Delete anything you dont use or plan on using, especially if it's a groll of a weapon you haven't even shot or considered using, but kept it because it's a groll.
The big issue I have is needing to keep a lot of options for PvE and PvP. My PvE slots probably amount to 20% of my vault the rest is primarily PvP Armour. Statsplits matter a lot more in highend PvP than PvE, so mid maxxing those over something like Armorpicker becomes essential. I agree with all the points made for PvE though, besides a few niche cases where old weapons suddenly became BiS, like Sojourner's Tale by the virtue of being Solar and the only Slug available, or Retraced path getting Shoot to loot removed after the perk was finally buffed to be good.
Edit: I think if people dismantled things before it left their postmaster or inventory that would cut down on an easy 70 to 80 percent of clutter. This is highly nitpicking but intelligence might be preferred for Trials or certain builds (like Orpheus) but t10 is definitely not required (I think my Orpheus build is 6 disc/6 int).
People, you don't need more vault pages/space. What you need is to LEARN HOW TO MANAGE IT!!! You don't need 7 copies of a gun that EVEN YOU know that you will NEVER use! 600 slots is more than you would realistically ever need!
For me, I hate stale loadouts. I really dislike running the same things over and over again so my vault is always filled with ~350 items. Barely any armor, mostly just weapons. I like having one good roll of almost any non-sunset legendary weapon just to play around with. I dismantle a lot of stuff I don't use often (like sniper rifles, I don't have many of those) I tried cleaning my vault entirely one time and I left myself so disappointed for the next few months when I went to use a weapon and realized I had dismantled it In the end, my vault does have some clutter but I actually don't mind it, I've learned where everything is
I have never had a problem with my vault being full, I don’t keep hundreds of the same weapon, I keep one of each I enjoy, it doesn’t matter what the rolls are, and random 1810s for infusion
I’d love an advanced DIM guide, but I’d also like to know how you set up your DIM and ingame loadouts for DPS swaps etc if you could also include that?
What really sucks is when a really good exotic armor suddenly disappears. Went to the vault to find my Cuirass of the Falling Star, and it was gone. Didnt delete it, and I've noticed yesterday MOST of my chest exotics are just gone.
To those discussing the rollback of sunsetting - sunset random roll weapons have all still been powercrept as mentioned in the video, so there's still not really a reason to keep them, but there's less reason to dismantle them now.
My god roll crimils dagger begs to differ.

I just needed this, goated.
And today we find out sunset gear will now have a sunrise. It's all coming back.
YES, please make a Dim video. Also, not all of us know our weapons like you do, so I do keep ones that I think may be good. Knowledge is power and I simply have neither.
Goat aegis speaks, I listen.. sometimes
An advanced DIM guide would be awesome! :)
Ngl this whole thing reminds me of 5S. Great breakdown!
"kills:0" filter in DIM is also great for getting rid of stuff you don't use
Good suggestion! Plenty of filters out there :P
Your vids honestly helped me to keep cope rolls anymore
My problem is, every time I delete a weapon, the following week, every Destiny TH-camrs are soloing GMs with THAT exact rolled weapon, calling it "Thee God roll" lol. I get so mad at myself, because I hear EVERYONE using it, but don't have it lol
Thanks for the video!
bangers! 100 vault spaces being free straight up. thx Aegis!
Because most exotic weapons have static rolls and cost a minimal amount of glimmer and legendary shards to reacquire. No prisms, etc needed.
@SovietAssault69 it's the upgrade modules that are the main cost, but my point is why, if you have the space, not just keep them? It's literally free to leave them there
@@iKnownot999 don't need them for exotic weapons goober
@@iKnownot999 it's also kinda hard to cite upgrade modules as a reason not to delete stuff when I know people sitting on thousands of enhancement cores
This is fantastic and man I need to go clean my vault but now I’m scared about how much trash I have in there.
I tag every item I own in DIM, and aggressively use filters and saved searches to do just about everything
Glad to see someone else is annoyed seeing people with every slot in their inventory full lmao
My only real problem is an excess of armour but I'm gonna make a bunch of builds before Final Shape, just for some extra cleaning
I don't really need it, I have around 400/600, but it'll be nice to declutter even more
It saves a lot of vault space when I don’t play PvP and hardly use primaries lol
It’s worth sacrificing maybe 30-50 slots (dependant on how much PvP you play) of your vault for PvP
15 slots for Armor for each Class and then 15 slots for Weaponry (primary and special)
do not use slots for heavy weapons as for the most part PVP heavy weapons are overkill and you will most likely be using an Eager edge sword anyway
Can’t wait to do all this work only to ram my vault full of exotic class items
Ah yes, I can finally clear my vault with 32 items - it was getting out of hand. Thank you Aegis.
W vid, my vault will be better now.I was wondering are you doing a dps test before and just after final shape for the new raid ?
DIM needs a filter called something like reacquirable or reobtainable to get all the weapons that can be pulled out from collections
Yeah that's like the only example
@@TheAegisRelic appreciate your response and everything you do for the community!
As a fellow DIM power user, would love to see a DIM video!
Just got my 500th GOA Master clear last week, you have more armor in your vault than me so I think I got it down.
I would ABSOLUTELY watch a DIM video
Went from 593 to 280, thanks for the new perspective 😂
aegis video after work, hell yeah
All non-crafted weapons that you have the unlocked pattern for:
/* craftable dupes */ is:patternunlocked -is:crafted
Find everything you want to keep that's not at max power, and everything you want to ditch that is max power. Great for making sure everything you want to keep is at 1810:
/* to infuse */ ((tag:keep or tag:favorite) -is:maxpower) or ((tag:junk or tag:infuse) is:maxpower)
My alternative to the 1 weapon loadouts, a filter that lets you move everything off your current character to the vault ready for a dismantle session:
/* not junk on current char */ -tag:junk is:incurrentchar -is:equipped (is:weapon or is:armor)
Finally, a filter for moving all the junk to your current character. This filter means you don't have to wait for DIM to sync your dismantled items, you can just keep telling it to move things to your character.
/* junk */ tag:junk -is:incurrentchar
If you're doing a tutorial for DIM, it would be cool if you show how to create our own wish lists.
Boy this aged like milk on a hot summer day.
Unfortunate timing but there's still not really a reason to keep sunset random roll PvE weapons atm
The one time they buffed an old weapon was Firefright I think, when they buffed Fragile Focus
awesome video, also legit dim tutorial would be amazing
Hi Eryn :3
@@TheAegisRelic hai aegis :3
I'd be stoked if you went through a build guide for the kind of content you play. Specifically mod set ups and such, you've kind of already covered armor and weapons and such.
It's in the works!
got my vault down to 96 slots taken from like 220 cause of your vid lol
There’s a single weapon I regret cleaning from my vault: slideshot iron grip steady hand.
My vault is full of sunset weapons that I do not use anymore, but just looking at them reminds me of everything I went through, all seasons played, since launch of the game. Of course it's sentimental, and I will definitely not feel good if I literally have to delete all of them...
Also shards are going away in final shape, so having a clear out now so you get the shards and put them to use, before they go away..😊
Ooooo, would love to see an advanced DIM tutorial!
Wavesplitter is going to metah!!
Excuse me my War Mantis gloves are poggers +56 recovery. Got me some rare Titan Solstice Gloves with the same glitch too
Nice video. I too suffer from a cluttered vault.
Bungie just announced that they are unsunsetting weapons 😮
Edit: I think if people dismantled things before it left their postmaster or inventory that would cut down on an easy 70 to 80 percent of clutter.
This is highly nitpicking but intelligence might be preferred for Trials or certain builds (like Orpheus) but t10 is definitely not required (I think my Orpheus build is 6 disc/6 int).
Yeah PvP is a different world, definitely Intellect in 3s
People, you don't need more vault pages/space. What you need is to LEARN HOW TO MANAGE IT!!! You don't need 7 copies of a gun that EVEN YOU know that you will NEVER use! 600 slots is more than you would realistically ever need!
For me, I hate stale loadouts. I really dislike running the same things over and over again so my vault is always filled with ~350 items. Barely any armor, mostly just weapons. I like having one good roll of almost any non-sunset legendary weapon just to play around with. I dismantle a lot of stuff I don't use often (like sniper rifles, I don't have many of those)
I tried cleaning my vault entirely one time and I left myself so disappointed for the next few months when I went to use a weapon and realized I had dismantled it
In the end, my vault does have some clutter but I actually don't mind it, I've learned where everything is
I have never had a problem with my vault being full, I don’t keep hundreds of the same weapon, I keep one of each I enjoy, it doesn’t matter what the rolls are, and random 1810s for infusion
Ty for giving me the strength to delete things i wont use
Went from 570 to 200 after this video 😍
