This has become the highlight of my day/evening. Just the fact that Pip is such a positive person lifts us all up . She is someone we can all truly admire.
I have a feeling Pip you have garnered more fans than you can imagine with these videos. Even at 4 to 6 knots you have shown what it takes to be in the Vendee. Exceptional sailing skills, knowledge of the technologies at hand, the ability to solve the problems and the mental toughness to deal with it all alone in the middle of no where. And all to the to the sound track of the Clash. By all means be on the line in 2028.
I'm circumnavigating on a 50 year old 30 foot race boat and you're going faster with no mast than I do with a mast most of the time! Amazing, you're coping with the situation incredibly well, huge congratulations you're an inspiration to us all. John
Hi Pip from Townsville, Queensland, Australia. I love to watch great sailing events and have been following the Vendee Globe since it started. Over the last few days my immediate "Go To" is your channel to see how you are progressing and holding up. I wish I could reach out and give you a hug to let you know you are doing fine. Someone else said "You have already won the race .. to their heart" , I concur. If I lived in Melbourne I would be on the dock cheering you into port. Thousand of Aussies will be there to do just that. Merry Christmas.
Pip, are you aware that you are a role model and an inspiration for many, many people? It takes a lot to sail an IMOCA around the globe in racing conditions. But what sets you apart from your peers is your extreme ability, do deal with any mishap or disaster that comes your way: You lose the mast, fight like hell to fix the mess in the boat and then in your head. I was incredibly impressed with how you overcame the sadness, stress and chaos that such a situation brings. And then, just a few days later, you swapped the race for another very personal adventure and are now making the most of it. You smiled and even enjoyed the seal that played with your boat. I wish I had 10% of your mental strength and your ability to make just any situation work. In any case, I am now following your journey with the same attention as the race still in progress. Your race is at least as interesting!
For me this is the real part of this race. If you have a functioning boat - let it be slow or a swift one - the main task is pretty much given. But, when you are dismasted in the middle of nowhere and you have to make it up yourself and solve it day by day, that's something way much more challenging than "just" cruising with your boat. Hats off to you sincerely! I wouldn't be able to do neither the physical nor the mental part of this unplanned challenge.
Pip, what a girl! In the last few months I have been facing a number of challenges that have turned my life upside down and left me with a very uncertain futiure, but I am not alone, nursing a boat in the southern ocean, under a jury rig, hundreds of miles from support and friends. Your daily tonic of positivity is an inspiration to me and should be to all suffering adversity, to pick thenselves up and fight another day. Keep the positivity coming.
What a great smile and positive attitude, you are an inspiration! Doing something everyday to improve your situation, that's the way to go, it's a life advice. Thanks Pip 💕
Like you, many of us have been hit with adversity at some point in our lives and you have shown that there is no use in brooding about the past, it’s about moving forward, making the most of your situation with a positive attitude, thank you for sharing this life lesson with us all.
You positive attitude to life and the frustrating situation you have found yourself in and have to recover from........is simply wonderful. YOU ARE AWESOME 😅
Pip, you are such an example of resistance, persistance and resiliance! You are an unbelieveble good sailor, I have no words to let you know how inspiring you are. Keep your energy, good wind and wish to see you again on the next Vendée Globe (I will continue following your journey to Melbourne, of couse 😉) Thanks for been you 🙏
We will follow and support you for the projet Vendée Globe 2028. You're amazing, only few days after dismasting you're already moving forward! Thnak you for sharing this adventure with us.
Pip, I am in awe of your resilience & fortitude. As a sailor myself, living an hour from Les Sables d'Olonne, I have every intention of being there to welcome you when you return from this trip and when you start in 2028. Bon courage, belle et courageuse femme ....❤
What an inspirational person! Thank you Pip for sharing all of this! If I had just 10% of your mental strength, I would be grateful! Thank you and good luck for your journey!
So happy to hear that you plan to do the Vendée Globe 2028! It is so inspiring how you manage these circumstances and thanks a lot for being so honest!
Dear Pip, I wish I could cheer for you in Melbourne harbour when you arrive. But unfortunately it is quite a long way from Germany. That is why I am travelling with you in my thoughts and in my heart. I wish you, despite everything, a blessed Chrismas and - you are probably alone on your ship, but we all "surround" you. I am also alone over the festive period. But I have bought your book "In my Element" which I am very exited about. All the best, take care of yourself. Best wishes Kerstin 😊
Yet again Pip, you are a huge inspiration for everyone who is following your journey, not as you planned however in the way you’ve adapted, improvised and maintained your drive and focus is awesome. As others have remarked, I look forward each evening to your daily update and sharing your remarkable progress with my non sailing friends. We’ll raise a glass to you on the 25th and again when you arrive safely in Melbourne.
You are such a positive person and totally inspiring. I am hooked to your Slow boat series. You must be so proud (if not, you should be) of what you have accomplished. In my case, I am so much in admiration. Safe return and looking forward to seeing you in 2028.
Keep up the good fight Pip. You are an amazing person. Medallia have a good person with you , you have won the hearts and minds of all who follow this race around the world. Warm regards Bill🇦🇺
Well done Pip, that's just the news we were all hoping for. With a bit of luck Medallia, and others, will see the value in sponsoring you. There will be lots of people following your progress.
Another great day for us all Pip because we get to share it with you & all the people who appreciate what you & the other competitors are doing. We watched an interview with the person who was racing Gentoo- he "missed the cut" of the 40 boats allowed to start the race. It was bitter sweet because after all that effort he didn't even get to start. But he, like you, is stoic, realistic & above all, POSITIVE. It's all we can be! ✌️🙏👍
Pip, rest up, and as you know each climb to anything starts with a first step and then one step at a time. You are resilient, supported, and inspirational
Nice one Pip. Your professionalism shines through... thinking ahead and respecting the bio-security regulations of Australia. A top brand ambassador. As mentioned before, potential sponsors take note.
Pip, you are an inspiration! I am so impressed how you organize yourself, how you allow yourself being sad, being tired, considering the border procedures, being again full of energy and reflecting on how to go on. So many thoughts and emotions up and diwn and up ... while making great progress towards Melbourne even without tea. Thank you so much for sharing every day with us. ❤
Pip, if I may be so bold as to address you by your first name though we have never met, I find this story and the daily uphill that you are fighting (that you are brilliantly winning at by the way) to be the absolute definition of inspiring! This motivates me to look for opportunities to be better, do better, appreciate what I have and the challenges that I don’t have to go through the measures you do just to make it to the next day. A most sincere hats off to one of the smartest, bravest, and delightful people I have ever heard of! Thank you for you being you and sharing this most difficult of experiences. This is where TH-cam really shines by allowing us into your experience. Thank you!!
Eat all the meals the Aussie’s will find objectionable! 😄 Really admire your spirit and tenacity Pip. Best of luck and (as much as one can in your circumstance) have a happy holiday! Take care, stay safe.
A HUGE hug to you, Pip from your Russian fan living in London. You're an amazing person and a model to follow. Unlimited support to you and all your team!
Arriving in Australia with food will not be a problem. You just declare it and any that is not allowed, is confiscated. Boxing Day forecast in Melbourne is 40 degrees with strong northerlies. Sailing up Port Phillip Bay under jury rig might present issues. I live at Martha Cove Marina which is on the east side of the Bay. Very safe harbour. It might be an option for you. There is also a fantastic facility to lift boats out and work on them.
Your straightforward sharing of your experience as an athlete and a sailor, organizing your campaigns, and executing your plans, is unique and wonderful. Really. I am more grateful than I am able to say. You are the best! ❤🎉❤🎉❤ Carry on! 😊🙏👍👍
Hey Pip, I really enjoy the 'slow boat' series. 😊 You are such an amazing person, still positive after this journey. And you will succeed, I"m sure. Happy to see the next chapter. Australia can be very pleased to welcome you! 🍀✊️⛵️💙
Tracking you every hour and thinking of you. Your courage is something truly uplifting. Kia Kaha. ( be strong). Sounds trite from hear but sending you the strength of our thoughts. You are an amazing story. Arohanui.
Your an Angle Pip all will be well your journey to the next Vendee has just begun your a Legend God Speed ….. From an ol Aussie racing Yachtsman…… 💪🌺❤️
Pip - Improving your situation each day includes your mental and physical health. Time to think and get much needed rest can only make everything better for you, the boat, and your team. Continued fair winds from Old Point Comfort Virginia.
So much looking forward to seeing you again in the 2028 VG. I am sure you will be back than. Hoping the people in Australia will give you a well deserved welcome as if you'd have won the race.
Pip, do you have any idea just how significant your story is at this particular time in the world when so much is uncertainty and fear for the future? Christmas Eve- those messages of support- messages from family and friends will be bitter sweet reading. You have more " friends" now❤ we all wish you good sailing weather. Wish I lived in M to be there when u arrive. Thank you for the update. Did they pack a present or two in with your food/ supplies - hope so😊 as there is sadly, no way for Santa to visit😂 Jan Adelaide🎄
I really like your videos. Congratulations on your decision to take part in vandee 2028. Use the reach you have just gained from your videos to build up the campaign, then the mountain won't be quite so high. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you arrive in Melbourne quickly and safely.
Etwas einmaliges! Bleib so tapfer und positiv! Alles gute aus Hamburg Deutschland!
Hang in there, Pip. Like many of us watching, I find your channel the most interesting and inspiring, which is saying a lot, considering the competition. In Australia, BTW, they also will make you haul out so they can check the critters on the hull, unless things have changed.
Thank you for these daily updates Pip - in the early noughties, we had a French sailor wash-up in Lyttelton NZ with a broken bow sprite that put him out of his solo round the world race. He stayed with us for a month, while he fixed his boat & he definitely went through all the emotions - his steely resolve won out in the end. Merry Christmas - a little distraught you have run out of tea though.
Hi Pip! Good to see you in a good spirit. About foods don’t worry lyophil packs closed it is ok they are worrying about frech, dryer, meat and fish then your English is perfect😊you are à seafarer captain and they will love you. Kind regards Patrick.❤❤❤🎉
That is an incredible distance with a jury rig - we all give you permission to stop and sleep and sleep some more….. maybe put a shout out to the Aussie air force to run a trainging run and emergency drop some tea bags to you 👍😂😂😂😂
Pip, you won that race. Not the Vendée globe, but the race of hearts
❤
This has become the highlight of my day/evening. Just the fact that Pip is such a positive person lifts us all up . She is someone we can all truly admire.
She must have been reading those Shackleton survival and determination stories.
Quite possibly the best sailing channel on TH-cam at the moment.
Yep, for sure.

Yes! Her job is so much harder than it was before the boat broke. I admire her creativity and ability to keep progressing in the face of adversity.
Go Pip!!! Thanks for all the positive vibes you spread to the needy.

You have turned a nitemare into a joyride! I’m impressed to say the least. You deserve a hero welcome upon arrival. Merry Christmas.
Congratulations on making the best of a bad situation. Enjoy your apples & get some rest!
You are such a sensitive person and yet, your strength and resilience are amazing... You're a sunshine..!

These slow boat stories are just so inspirational, you are certainly coming out of this race a winner. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Still checking in and following you each day, your resolve and determination is lifting me from a personal "dismasting" thank you Pip.
When things go wrong, they often get more interesting. Well done Pip. You're a Queen of adaptation!
Just seeing you smile. Keep it up, Pip. And as always, we are all with you!!

Funny how the rest of the Vendee is less fun to follow now. I almost follow you only Pip! 🙂

Now that little speech at the end about 2028 🎉 is brute determination and I know you won’t let it go, tears in my eyes.
Merci pour ces vidéos. L'aventure continue. Tout nos encouragement.
Bravo Pip, positive thinking. The phoenix will rise again. We're all behind you, after all, what would the Vendée be like without you.😊😊
Good progress ! Melbourne is now not far away. Safe journey, Pip !

Pip, we’ll do our best, no matter how small, to see you on the start line for the 2028 Vendée Globe.

Whatever happens I will know you'll do great on the 2028 race.
Totally in love with you Pip. Om sorry your boat got banged but through that we've met the really real Pip. I'll never not love you any more! 😎

Keep going with these updates - they are much appreciated. It's great news that you will be entering the VG in 2028!
You're an inspiration Pip, thank you for sharing this slow trip to Melbourne. I feel sure there's another crack at the 2028!
Your strength and resilience are awe inspiring, your practicality, skills, and approach to your problems and the events which have overtaken you are life lessons for us all. We get the sense of how much it hurts but at the same time know you will triumph and hopefully be on that start line again next time round. Thank you and God speed.
Christmas Eve- those messages of support- messages from family and friends will be bitter sweet reading.
You have more " friends" now❤ we all wish you good sailing weather. Wish I lived in M to be there when u arrive. Thank you for the update. Did they pack a present or two in with your food/ supplies - hope so😊 as there is sadly, no way for Santa to visit😂
Jan Adelaide🎄
Full of admiration for your resolve and seamanship in such a difficult situation. Fair winds for Melbourne
Pip, you give hope and courage to face life. Thank you for this lively Christmas message. Stay safe and healthy today and in the future.
Very happy to hear that you will be able to avoid the Apple Incident, hats off and enjoy
I really like your videos. Congratulations on your decision to take part in vandee 2028. Use the reach you have just gained from your videos to build up the campaign, then the mountain won't be quite so high. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you arrive in Melbourne quickly and safely. Until then, I'll enjoy watching your daily videos.
Instead of the Clash's "London Calling " I propose, "Melbourne Calling." Top shelf, Pip!
Etwas einmaliges! Bleib so tapfer und positiv! Alles gute aus Hamburg Deutschland!
Thanks Pip, love your updates.
Brilliant stuff as always
Pip , you are a great hero. Despite everything
Merry Christmas
Hurray for your decision, great move for a champion like you! Brain meets heart in here!🏆❤
Pip, with your determination you can climb any mega-mountain easily, one step at a time! You'll do it! No worries!
Toujours volontaire active et positive . Quel talent ! 2028 sera votre revanche sûrement !
Hi Pip! Good to see you in a good spirit.
About foods don’t worry lyophil packs closed it is ok they are worrying about frech, dryer, meat and fish then your English is perfect😊you are à seafarer captain and they will love you. Kind regards Patrick.❤❤❤🎉

Outstanding……inspirational 👍👍👍
Wow! Great job!
Glad to hear you are down BUT NOT OUT!! 2028!! Wohoo!!
All the best from Germany Britta and Jens
Love the updates. One question how many hats do you have? They seem to change everyday.
That is an incredible distance with a jury rig - we all give you permission to stop and sleep and sleep some more….. maybe put a shout out to the Aussie air force to run a trainging run and emergency drop some tea bags to you 👍😂😂😂😂
Aussie air force should get this idea by themselves 🙂
Hi Pip. I love your updates. It is really fantastic your spirit. I hope you have some good sleep. 😊
