    RE: Arnaud De Lie, Johan Bruyneel had this to say about him during the Up and Comers Show:
    "This is the name that I want you to remember for 2023. He's unbelievable. He's a combination between Boonen and Gilbert."
    It seems he's already living up to the praise!

    Thanks Chris for the review. Loving L'Etoile de Bessèges - Gard is my favorite part of France - hilly and hot - and the route this year is a great test. Arnaud de Lie definitely showing he's one for the future.
    As to the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana I also think Ineos deserve a mention for smart tactics on yesterday's stage in sending Thymen Arensman solo up front to keep the breakaway group riding fast with no real rest before the final climb setting up Tao fro the win.
    Thomas Gloag also been a revelation TJV seem to have signed a good one.

    Hello Chris! this youngster already announced that he would try to go all out in order to see what he could achieve against the better climbers....and he did a great job on this steep climb....he is the best sprinter in the GC...by far!

    I've been looking forward to seeing your take on Powless vs. Skjelmose all day since I saw the stage. What I'm really wondering is what's your read on them head to head in a TT? I know Skjelmose is good at that, but Powless is no slouch at it himself, and it's not exactly a straight-ahead kind of affair: there's u-turns and a steep final climb. One to watch, for sure.

      I agree, it will be one to watch for sure tomorrow. I truly couldn’t say this early into the season which one of them would win. 🤔💪💥🔥

      Powless, he worked a lot in the break, still finished 2nd. He should take the tt tomorrow for the gc win. 🤪

      @@danreynolds1142 I mean, I hope you're right. Skjelmose is good, though, it's not a done deal by any means.

    I'm a big JV fan but Thomas Gloag (?) was not even on my radar. Nice surprise.

      It will be interesting to see if he will continue this or if it is just early season thing (ie. him being in great shape with others not yet).

    Chris, several times in the video when you are talking about the kid putting the hurt on on everyone including his teammate, you touch your chin with the top of your thumb. Being serious here, is that a sign for something that you give the director or teammates while riding?

    • @ChrisHornerCycling
      @ChrisHornerCycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. It’s a language used in cycling that means the effort or the pace at that moment is going really hard (that everyone is suffering). I don’t realize that I’m doing it because it’s normal language that all pro riders use when we talk about how the race went.
      So something being said like…. “the pace was full gas and everyone was one their limit”. You will probably see me push my thumb into my chin and lift the chin a bit. Every cycling pro would understand exactly what I’m saying just with the gesture. Often times during the race I could just look at another rider when the pace has been going fast non stop, and even if he speaks a different language, do the gesture and without words he would understand me and nod back at me. 👊👊

    Dude. I was thinking the same thing about that Uno X rider on the final climb. Why are you burying yourself when your leader is like 6 riders back? Chill out! lol.
