    I love how George just lets his interviewees talk. He gets it.

    This is the first time I have seen this George guy and I just could NOT understand why he was getting so close... Glad I'm not the only one

      It’s one thing to appear interested in the guest, it’s another thing to lean so far over and get in their face...

      Totally misplaced and out of sync with the jokes.

    I need to See when Hes coming To New York. I'm so Obsessed with Everything Sedaris- I'd read the instructions on a shampoo Bottle if he was the author

    Just saw David a couple months ago - such a great show that I easily forgave him for drawing a bloody dagger when autographing my book!

    I was fortunate enough to talk to David last year. Funniest man in the world.

    Gotta hand it to David for not getting distracted by George's invading lean-ins, weird faces and fake contortions. I would have stopped the interview after the second question and told George to please just sit back in your chair and relax... and maybe not look at me.

    I wonder if Strombo is familiar with comedian Steven Wright? He said his grandfather's rocking chair leaned forward, so he could fake interest in conversations.

      It is I, ScinLaeca358, on my new account. I have watched the reaction of David, and listened to him talk with George, and am pleased to report i am quite tickled and bemused by the whole thing.

    George must have seen one of Steven Wright's shows, where he talked about how his grandfather set up a rocking chair to lean forward, so he could fake interest in conversations..

    Too inane, I'd say. Stroumboulopoulos was doing fine until he responded to "It's just crazy to see someone be you in a movie," with, "how many places do you rent out now?" Luckily David Sedaris remains on point.

    If he leaned in any further, he'd be on the floor, face first. I would be so uncomfortable to have someone up on my grill like that.

  • @OrphanSeasun

    Well, on the whole he's better than most interviewers you're likely to see nowadays. I simply do not agree that he's "horrible". Your example is horrible - the question wasn't one of materialism & it was obviously a topic Sedaris liked and was funny in answering. I'm sorry the interview isn't able to satisfy your insatiable intellect & ego, but Sedaris is a comic writer & not Father Matthew Fox. I suggest you do your own show and wow the hell out of us. Nice stethoscope Dr. Feelgood.

    You know David is thinking the same thing, having to ramble thru the dry, awkward interview. Why was George leaning so far forward at the beginning. How bizarre.

    I live in Europe now and its more or less the same thing...a general dumbing down in culture...so though you may be "too smart for the room " you will find that will be so if you watch tv anywhere in the world and by the way this is a Canadian show not a US broadcast ...not that that makes a difference.

    This was one of the most awkward interviews I have ever seen because of the way George leans so far into David's space!!! Yikes. I felt uncomfortable just watching it. Still adore David though!

    GREAT!!!!! Two Greek American Guys and NOT A WORD About their Shared Background or what it was like to grow up Greek American.
    Sedaris, on "Finding your Roots" with Henry Lewis Gates , was presented with a tragic history wherein his family was oppressed and terrorized by the Ottoman Turks who ruled Greece in the 19 th Century. In response to a rebellion by other Greeks in the area, a female ancestor, a young woman, was captured by Turkish bands bent on retaliation, and was last seen being forced onto a Slave ship headed for Turkey.
    PITY this history was so insignificant to Sedaris. If he spoke about ANY oppression it was about how being gay is a burden. NO mention of the life of slavery in some filthy harem somewhere in Turkey and being forever lost to her loving family for this ancestor merited a mention....nor ANY reference to being Greek American, for EITHER of these guys. Why are you so reluctant to speak of your background?
    NICE ONE, David;: also to George Stroumboulopoulos. You are a DISGRACE to our community!!!! Hiastikame!!!

    • @ownpetard8379
      @ownpetard8379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And not know how to respond to a "Christos Aneste" (Christ is Risen!)? Stroumboulopoulos needs to turn in his Greek card, if he ever had one issued in his name. I realize that >>nowadays

  • @quaver1239
    @quaver1239 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Perhaps George has problems, like moderate deafness and the effort of lip-reading? It seems a bit unfair to be judgemental when one knows virtually nothing about what might be wrong with him? Perhaps he explained beforehand to David Sedaris why his posture and staring could be difficult to cope with?

    ...BTW, have you ever even BEEN to America? (I'm gonna guess the answer is "no")...I've been all over Europe -many, many times- and can honestly tell you that there's not really too much difference outside of languages/accents, food, and architecture...There are Smart people, dumb people, polite people, rude people, cultured, un-cultured, etc, etc, etc, ANYwhere in the world that you go...Do you really believe you are better than others just because you were born on a particular patch of dirt?

    ...That show is Canadian, not American...Our talk shows are nothing like that (the fact that you thought this was an American show illustrates how little you know about American culture)...Furthermore, Many of the best talk shows are American: Carson, Letterman, Conan Obrian, etc, etc...Anyway, know what you're talking about before you just start flapping your lips, like a nationalist parrot...

    I am viewing this only because I am a huge fan of David. However, I am not a fan of the interviewer! He keeps squirming around and aggressively leaning forward in his chair. It is like he is doing a Jim Cary impersonation. Hated it.

    ..."Say a little prayer for Canada"? -Wow, you really ARE superior, aren't you? (pompous douche)...and what are these "identically awful" American shows that you speak of? -Give us some examples, I'm eager to hear how much you "know" now that I've seen how polite and humble you are...
