    Learn how to make a DIY dog rope leash with twisted cotton rope in this video tutorial. Making a customized dog leash can be fun and rewarding. With a few simple tools and the right rope you can make a sturdy, unique dog leash that will last for years. To make a twisted rope pet leash it is recommended to use cotton rope as it is soft on the hands and provides a slight give if there is any tugging or pulling on the leash. The standard sizes for dog leashes and dog leads are 4 feet and 6 feet. For horse leads, 10 feet is the standard and 25 feet is best for lunge lines. The same technique is applied for all of these dog rope leashes and dog rope leads. Simply measure out shorter or longer lengths of cordage for your needs.

    • @Ravenox
      @Ravenox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@xxhoney-beexx9324 You would need to weave the ring in to the splice or put it on the handle end loop before starting your back-braid.

    Can you tell me the total length of rope used for this project?

    • @Ravenox
      @Ravenox  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's an article that lays out all the instructions: www.ravenox.com/blogs/news/twisted-cotton-rope-dog-leash-step-by-step-diy-instructions
      Here's where all the best rope is: www.ravenox.com/collections/cotton-rope
      The amount of rope you need depends on how long you'd like your leash to be. For dogs, the standard lengths are 4 FT and 6 FT and for horses it's 10 FT. To make a lunge line/lead line for both dogs and horses the standard length is 25 FT. To make the handle you'll want to measure out an additional 14 inches to make the eye splice. For the hardware end you'll want to add an additional 6 inches. That means that for whatever length you desire the end product to be add an additional 20 inches of rope for the handle and hardware.
