I was at a reenactment of the Fench and Indian war at Fort Ligonier PA. I stopped and watched for a while as family's camped and cooked, kids ran and played some of them spoke french and I watched a guy shaving in a mirror nailed to a tree. I can still smell the horses and the camp smoke in the air.

A totally enjoyable conversation. I so like the fact that younger Americans are appreciating now the things that older generations used and kept. There are just so many classic items that lasted down through the years. The ability to build a fire and regulate temperature enough to cook something edible. Using timeless cast iron items as you mentioned, pottery, wooden utensils. I love crockery myself and I love the old mixing bowls. I also wanted to say off-grid enthusiasts and young folks may find all the things you are learning and have put into practice may serve you well in the near future, more than you might realize now. These are survival skills. I think we are looking at big change a'comin' and a lot of people are not going to be ready. You also are educating so many. You are to be congratulated for using your minds and talents, bravo I say ,and thank you. Love you guys!!!

Justine & Ron represent the true heart of Good American people that have an authentic good passion for something (wether a hobby or a craft) but putting their whole heart into it passionately with purpose & authenticity & simple enjoyment vs just for trying to monetize. The realness their hobby has become lead to a well enjoyed labor of love bringing monetary income. You all have wholesome values with genuine charisma, gift of gab, & ability of heart connecting with others when speaking of your passion with all things 17th & 18th century. All other folks you've had on your channels or collabed with otherwise...all have been well chosen unique genuine interesting authentic good people who have a true depth & deep interest expressed well to draw a viewer in. Wether those who have the same passion for keeping historical periods, crafts, traditions/ways of life, & historic objects all kept alive in the modern world, or just sharing colonial re-enactment stories. The lady here working for Samson historic store, I also commend her gift of gab & asking wonderful questions while explaining your historic business. You have a natural ability drawing a viewer in, & connecting with your guests as you too have passion for your job & historical accuracy etc as well. Thriving in a job within your niche of what you enjoy & creating wholesome connection with Ron & Justine doing the same. So I enjoyed this video. And Ron/Justine getting you to connect & talk about yourself as well. One of the things the American culture has lost over the years is genuine human connection vs superficial hosting etc where as the older days it was genuine care to create lifelong community friendships & fellowships & get to know others genuinely. You lead this video wonderfully & you truly connected with Ron & Justine. All of you brought aunthenticity, laid back fun energy. The comfortability you presented for them as their blessed with gift of gab too, it all flowed naturally, their comfort as well. Your style leading the interview, if you will, drew me in to continue to follow this channel as well.
A little about me/ how i got into love of historical periods etc:
My restart of it in adulthood was my love for old historic fountain pens as a calligraphist & writer. The San serif scripts of 17th 18th century to the Spencerian & Copperplate scripts of the 19th century. To Latin scripts & Gothic scripts that began 4th century AD. Recreating scripts of all periods in history as their all so beautiful. And learning more about their time in use etc. My dream is to find an old well cared for vintage 1800's
J Herbin pen or Mont Blanc from the late 1700s or early 1800s. More realistically, to find a vintage Pilot fountain pen from the 1900s. Or a fp of any long standing brand or unique. But i started researching why some qualities dwindled in making fine writing fountain pens & fascinated they'd been around since the early 1600s replacing a quil. That then branched out to my wanting to learn more of the time period. Especially the romantic Victorian era ... The Royal Signage font, perfuming the paper with pressed flowers, each flower was a special symbolism, & wax sealing in colored waxes with custom stamps. And the letters style followed a more casual prose but still a polite formality. In my teen years writing that style is where I started in simple italic, but also falling in love with reading books... old classic books from 17th 18th 19th century or these eras depicted within the book . My first experience with Jane Austin or Little Women/Little Men, I was hooked with historic way of life of the Victorian era & the Early American pioneer era ...THAT began with the Little House On The Prarie series or Anne of Green Gables books & series. I came back to the love of history again in adulthood with researching the historical nature of writing instruments & why fountain pens became not as popular & we went disposable route & where to find affordable vintage fountain pens vs cheaper quality modern day ones. So that branched off into following others recreate various magic nostalgia of bygone times. Ron & Justine, I would love to hand make your events & re-enactment flyers & invitations with my fountain pens with the Adobe Caslon script (The script the decleration of independence was written with was a variation of a sans serif called Adobe Caslon) whilest writing it on period correct hand made parchment paper & using handmade walnut ink also used back in the day, or J Herbin ink still going strong from its 1600 origins. Or Sumi japanese imported ink they'd been using since the 12th century. I'm not too far away from Ron & Justine living in neighboring KS. So, I'm hoping to attend a St. Genevieve event & make an authentic written housewarming gift with period correct script, pen, & ink for Ron to handmake a frame for & Justine for you to hang in your home where you'd like. Perhaps I'll do the year of your homesteads establishment with your name's & wedding date. If you name it as an estate or manor, let me know! But i will be sending that to your PO Box once I complete it. If any of you ever find a fountain pen at an auction or estate sale that they know not its worth and/or needs work so it's cheaply priced. Please snag it & send it to me & I'd reimburse you. In my small town our estate sales mainly only consist of historical furniture & dishware vs fountain pen collectors. So if you ever come across that, I'll include my address with the 17th century calligraphy piece I will be creating & sending to you for your house warming gift. Now following Samson Historical as well. Do reach out to me if you get any vintage old fountain pens in your shop!! Or if ever want to collab on your magazine with authentic written period correct script, pen style, ink, & paper. I'd love to collaborate or send samples of my work.

I think I've been dressing like an 1800 woman for a lot longer than 30 years closer to really 40 now that I think of it I was a member of the SCA and early American comes in just just at the end area of that society for creative anachronism and back then I used to have to sew all my clothes by hand because there was no clothes around that were made by other people that would fit me so I've been sewing by hand which according to my auntie who is a Taylor my needlework was so good on my skirts Etc that she was surprised to realize that they were hand-stitched.

Justine you and I share a whole lot in common I grew up mostly in Central America where my father was the civilian chaplain working for the military, so when my father would have to go to a base that was pretty far away but still within the country were in like but other side of the country I would sometimes go with him so when I came back to America I felt like an alien from another planet I had grown up with also with my father going and seeing some of these old archaeological sites but the most interesting thing about it was that we periodically had to go to Europe and so I got to see a lot of the different architecture there and the kitchens were so different and everything was pretty much different I learned my my perfume and cosmetics making when I was 5 years old and observing and listening to tourist how this was how it was made and how these herbs were mixed in for different remedies and how these were basically whether she knew or not the nun said everything and I listened as little pictures do with their big ears and I started making my first perfumes and cosmetics when I was in third grade, I made my first perfume because my parents wouldn't allow me to chip in with all the kids to get the teacher a present they insisted my parents insisted because they're European that I make it from scratch myself they had no idea what I would make but they figured better to make something my mother just didn't understand much of what goes on in the United States or for that matter what goes on in in a normal American setting, and that's how I made my first perfume.

I prefer the cooking show’s. No talking so I can visibly watch how things are done. When I watch the 2 of them together, Justine’s voice, is so sharp and loud my ears can’t take the stillness of her voice. It’s not so pronounced on this video so perhaps it’s a video issue on Ron and Justine’s part. I collect PRIMITIVES!! They giv me so much comfort 💕🙏🙏
