Good morning, I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee build date 11/14. Service shifter light just came on this morning. Can I just replace the shifter bezel and wiring or do I need to take it to a dealership and have them replace the whole shifter assembly?
OK it says this repair applies to vehicles built on or before Dec 15th 2017. all 2015-2018 models Jeep Cherokee so I would say the bezel and harness should do.

What about rotary shifter in 2015 durango 3.6l doing similar but says transmission not in park scan tool says transmission range sensor zf 8spd transmission. Do have to change transmission valve body or shifter is the problem??

I was planning on getting the whole system from an old car (junker) and take it a a mechanic outside for replacement. The valve body is $755 plus $755 in labor. I am not even sure what they mean by “valve”. Also transmission fluid. Whats a “valve body” in this case and would you recommend buying from a junk yard?

I shift thru gears and hear trans shifting but jeep just revs up and won’t go anywhere. Can shift into neutral to get it to roll onto tow truck(still all shifter lights on) and put back in park and wheels lock up like they are suppose to. NO POWER TO WHEELS THO. PLZZ SOMEONE HELP

Hey ms lady, your Charger likely equipped with the 8 speed RWD trans with a rotary shifter. You likely have fault codes stored in that module that needs to be pulled. Unless you no somebody with a real good scan tool, you may have to visit the Dodge dealer for this one. Sounds like bus communication problems.
I unplugged the battery and took the shifter apart like u did in your video I didn’t have a new shifter but I unplugged it anyway to play with the wiring harness a little bit. I plug it back up n the battery. All the crazy stuff stop but the power steering message still pop up again and the service shifter message pops up sometimes now 😂 but it’s driving fine. I’m going to take it to shop like you said. Thanks for your help
@@hassandarsham8215 hey I just unplugged the battery for about 30 minutes and also while the battery was unplugged. My stepdad unplugged the shifter for 30 minutes. Everything reset itself. The power steering lights was still on at first but know it’s gone off. I’m still going to get a new shifter tho. 😂 it’s just to high for me right now lol

I have this problem. I allowed the girlfriend drive and she drove it with the shifter moved to standard position. I seen it and told her to pull over. Turn off the car. Light went back to normal. Somehow she did it again and now the shifter light is on. I order the part and hope to fix it soon. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks for the video.

If it's coming apart inside sounds like a recall but is not. Dealer labor 121.88 hr. Part 455.00 plus tax, only two shifters in U.S.A in stock sounds more like indector.?
this problem only set a light on for shifter signal. Technically its not a safety issue so I do not think it would ever be a recall bud. Did you have any codes? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

This year model Ram likely equipped with the ZF 8 speed RWD transmission. There will be fault codes in the TCM. Do you have those? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
@@OnlineMechanicTips It all started last night at around 6 PM. Just as I was about to pull into the gas station to fuel up, I ran out of gas. The police put it in neutral to push me into the parking lot (snapping the manual park release right off its hinge when they did that), but even after two gallons of gas was put in, it wouldn’t start up. After several tries, the car then suddenly got stuck in run, even though the engine hadn’t cranked up, and all the gear ship lights were lit up, and this message said “Service transmission while in D” and things like that. Because I couldn’t get it unstuck from run, that battery eventually went completely dead. I’ve wound up spending the night here, and it looks like I might end up spending ANOTHER below-freezing night here. In other words--I’m literally STILL stranded as we speak! I’m also hearing this very faint little beeping or clicking noise right now, too
Have the same problem with my 21 gladiator. Taken it to the dealership 4 times and they haven’t been able to fix it. And i think it’s electrical cause it only happens when it rains. Power steeering goes out and locks up, airbags go out, 4wd go out, when I come to a stop it will say put in park then shift to desired gear, then locks itself in park and the engine shuts off with the car still on and the only way to shut it off is disconnect the battery under the hood and the auxilery battery under the fuse box. Fucking bullshit,

Our dealer 170 a hour, if they look it up and it says its a 3 hours job, you may be out of almost $350 dollars. You dont HAVE to get it done at the dealer tho

Because this a fully electronic transmission soley monitored by the TCM, you may not have much of a choice about visiting a dealer my friend

I have this problem. I allowed the girlfriend drive and she drove it with the shifter moved to standard position. I seen it and told her to pull over. Turn off the car. Light went back to normal. Somehow she did it again and now the shifter light is on. I order the part and hope to fix it soon. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks for the video.

this problem only set a light on for shifter signal. Technically its not a safety issue so I do not think it would ever be a recall bud. Did you have any codes? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

This year model Ram likely equipped with the ZF 8 speed RWD transmission. There will be fault codes in the TCM. Do you have those? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

@@OnlineMechanicTips It all started last night at around 6 PM. Just as I was about to pull into the gas station to fuel up, I ran out of gas. The police put it in neutral to push me into the parking lot (snapping the manual park release right off its hinge when they did that), but even after two gallons of gas was put in, it wouldn’t start up. After several tries, the car then suddenly got stuck in run, even though the engine hadn’t cranked up, and all the gear ship lights were lit up, and this message said “Service transmission while in D” and things like that. Because I couldn’t get it unstuck from run, that battery eventually went completely dead. I’ve wound up spending the night here, and it looks like I might end up spending ANOTHER below-freezing night here. In other words--I’m literally STILL stranded as we speak! I’m also hearing this very faint little beeping or clicking noise right now, too
Have the same problem with my 21 gladiator. Taken it to the dealership 4 times and they haven’t been able to fix it. And i think it’s electrical cause it only happens when it rains. Power steeering goes out and locks up, airbags go out, 4wd go out, when I come to a stop it will say put in park then shift to desired gear, then locks itself in park and the engine shuts off with the car still on and the only way to shut it off is disconnect the battery under the hood and the auxilery battery under the fuse box. Fucking bullshit,

@@Natethegreat200c Im not sure, it depends on which mount you talking about. Theres several on the car, Also every shop hourly rate different. Our dealer 170 a hour, if they look it up and it says its a 3 hours job, you may be out of almost $350 dollars. You dont HAVE to get it done at the dealer tho
