I'm impressed they pulled this off, but I can see the definite limitations to how much of a coaster they could build. The maintenance needs will also be pretty high with constant exposure to the sea.
It looks great, but...it's a roller coaster with a capacity of: 2. Or maybe at best, 4, or 6. That's with 5400 passengers on board. I bet you won't be riding very often.
It can't get stuck like a coaster because it's not a coaster. The vehicle has drive motors in it that push it along the track, so they just use those to move it to the station. A coaster is called a coaster because it COASTS. The vehicle has no drive motors in it, after the initial lift or launch it's powered only be gravity and momentum.
@@jshepard152 Yes, that's a given. The point is that a coaster has an unpowered vehicle, by definition. That means it WILL get stuck if it loses enough momentum. Since this ride is not a coaster, the only way it can get stuck is a mechanical or power failure.
@@KingdaToro It can't get stuck "like a coaster" but it can get stuck. It's that second part you left out. And if you're stuck, you don't care about the way in which you're stuck.
This should be right up your alley then because, guess what... it's not a roller coaster. A roller coaster doesn't have drive motors in the vehicle, it's powered only be gravity and momentum after the initial lift or launch. In other words, it coasts. This is powered by drive motors built into the vehicle. Since it doesn't coast, it's not a roller coaster.
And it's powered by bus bars running along the track. I'm not sure how long those are going to last in the corrosive atmosphere of the sea, plus the friction of the pickup.
It's $15 to ride the go-karts on NCL. So what? At least on THAT ship, you get 8-minutes of "track time". But, as has been said by others, here, where ELSE are you going to ride go-karts and roller coasters on a cruise ship??? Charging extra reduces the demand and keeps the lines and wait-times short.
It looks like it's always powered by a motor in the car. Is it a roller coaster if it doesn't go up a big hill then coast? Got back from the Carnival Vista a couple of weeks ago. It was great (adults/crew vaccinated). Felt very safe and normal!
You got that right. It's essentially a train ride, it's not a roller coaster. While a roller coaster doesn't have to start by going up a big hill (a launched coaster doesn't) it always has to disconnect from the lift or launch system and coast the rest of the way.
thats it? 1) its like 10 seconds long. 2) i cant imagine having to listen to this thing ALL DAY LONG on the ship. 3) Stow loose items? why? it might as well be a kiddie ride lol.
This isn't a roller coaster. A roller coaster never has any sort of drive motors in the vehicle, and always disconnects from the drive system built into the track after the initial lift or launch. It then completes the course powered only by gravity and momentum. In other words, it coasts. This ride has drive motors in the vehicle itself, that propel it throughout the ride by acting on the gear rack on the side of the track. It doesn't coast, so it's not a coaster.

We Fins make this , so be quiet and have fun lol 😂
@@FINMrCurly 🤣🤣❤️
If the maintenance isn't top notch the salt water air will slowly destroy it,....looks Kool tho
This is everything I wanted on a cruise, now they got. Let's book a cruise.
Right. It's like what ELSE can they think of to put on these things?
I would have to put on a life jacket/vest. Lol 😆
I guarantee when I book this cruise the Bolt coaster will be out of order the whole week.
That'd by MY luck, as well. OR, there'd be a long line and it'd take HOURS to get on.
@@kb6kgx Exactly. You'll have a long queue and a capacity of 2.
Nice! Better than a gocart!!
The high roller roller coaster needs to be brought back as something like this!

That looks amazing to ride WOOOOO
Looks cool , sound even cooler 🤩🤩🤩
THE BOLT!!!!!!!
I wanna go there
CRUISE ROLLERCOASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much ride
Where are the seat belts????
Are there no lap belts, straps, or harness of some sort? Looks like people just sit on it and go.
There is a seatbelt.
Who's the manufacturer?
300lbs maximum is going to be tricky for the US of A :-)
LOL, I can confirm, this is true.
So I guess this is an improvement of the sky ride on the vista?
Lol the last thing I want to do on a cruise is wait in line for an hour. They should have time slots or fastpass.
Does it run at sea or at port? And how would they get people off if the coaster got stuck like at other theme parks such as busch gardens
Yeah, I was also wondering if the ride runs while the ship is sailing or at sea?? Hmm...🤔😀

Sounds like they'll be some breakdowns in the future. The vehicle is super shaky.

@@soentrueman7944 well quality is good. Same as ship they use metal what has protection for it. We have good quality work for this kind things
Very nice
$15? Nah. Especially after you've already paid all that money and other activities/entertainment are included.
You have to spend money to get on it? That's a huge shame.
@@MariaDash145 it’s a roller coaster on a cruise ship… $15 is worth having that experience imo
If you dont charge for it the waiting line would be out of control. Pay for fun is the only way to go to get the opportunity to ride it.

Is this in qatr
Well that out beet Disney cruise line in the face.😊
So
Do they control your speed or you control your own speed?
You control the speed. There is a motorcycle-like throttle. The people in this video seemed reluctant to go as fast as they COULD.

This is really a powered coaster as opposed to a roller coaster.
NO GRACIAS
$15 to go on that short-ass coaster? What a rip off!!!
Then don't do it.
$15 for 20 seconds?? I'll pass.

It’s not a roller coaster as there is no use of gravity/coasting
Isnt the whole point of going on a cruise to enjoy the actual cruise? Why do we need rollercoasters and slides etc on it?
40 mph.....Book a cruise to ride.....NO THANK YOU!
I'll just drive my car up and down a bunch of hills.
Covid-20 coaster delivered this time 😨🤣
$15 dollars for one lap on a kiddie coaster 😳

Semantics. So what?
@@kb6kgx It's not semantics. A ride that does not coast is not a coaster, and marketing it as such is false advertising.
