I love my all black one. Did you see where the blade is marked d2? It is there. I like to thumb roll mine open, like a front flipper, and the finger flick isnt bad for me but I have large hands.
@Jack Nemo is that right? Not trying too sound like a dick or anything but it doesn’t really matter that much does it? I will personally take how they feel in hand but each to their own that’s the beauty of freedom of choice/speech have a beautiful day
What's interesting is that the blades look like they're ground nearly identically. No mention of contrast between them, either. Point being, I wonder why there's a disparity in action but not in other areas.
I like to think of those Isham Triangle Holes™️ as nail nicks. For opening use in situations where the flip would be problematic. On the McKenna it's plenty enough for that.
OK... now I have to take mine apart and lighten up the détent! Yes... it’s orange! LOL! Good insight....I always notice more about my knives after your reviews. I however, do not feel that the quality is lacking here as much as Nick says....I am happy to spend the $72 that I spent on this knife.....
Hey Nick, relatively new subscriber, so I apologize if this question has been answered before. What are some good options for EDC knives under $30? Nothing fancy or gimmicky just a solid, well designed, well made knife for as little as possible.
$80? It might be because I purchased mine sometime around last year, but I was able to get mine at $60 off of the amazon. Great knife. It’s just unfortunate to see the price spike like that.
Thanks for the video, going to pass on the knife till the quality / price improve. Priced at $50 ok as is. Priced at $100 with better quality. I'm liking the design. Looks very thin behind the edge. Thanks again for the review. 😎👍
Begin by taking the knife apart. Remove the screw that holds the over travel plate in place and remove the plate which can be tough to remove sometimes. Look down on the lock bar mechanism noting the gap between the frame and the lock bar arm. Bend the arm past where the over travel plate was. This will require significant pressure and the goal is to bend it about the width of 3 sheets of typing paper. Reassemble the knife and check the detente. If you bent it too far or not enough make the proper adjustment. This is like brain surgery but mistakes can be corrected. I have successfully done this 80 or 90 times.
Could you please do a review of the Colonial M-724 Rescue knife? I saw it on bladehq.com and it caught my eye because its made in USA, issued to paratroopers, managabile size, an auto, and is around $43.00.
I'd get the McKenna. It's quite a bit lighter, thinner in the pocket, deep carry clip, obtrusive flipper tab, and has a steel bearing pivot to make the front flipper easy to deploy. Makes for a solid light use knife that you hardly notice in your pocket. I'd get the Rat R2D2 all day for a heavier use beater knife.
I have the blue version and got it on launch day. I have to say, it is my least favorite Civivi that I own. The blade is great, as Nick says, no doubt about it. I had to tweak the lock bar to get it to open reliably and the blocky handle is really just meh. It's not horrible - if I didn't have a Statera and Elementum I would think it was great for the price...but those two are way better.
Anthropos (Άνθρωπος) is the greek word for human. Also the correct intonation is ànthropos with the a emphasized. Other than that good job on pronouncing it, have a nice day :-)

“You feel his DNA in this guy. It very much smells like an Isham.”
Wow right off the bat I was shocked by the size. Thought it was a larger knife. Very cool. Elijah is a mad scientist.
Already have the black and orange. Love it .Got a new one in Damascus and wood, on the way. Don't forget the perloma isham!
Nice video! And congrats on 110k!
Civivi knives are cool and this channel rocks. Thank you Nick.
Nick describing the blade “yeah, that’s right”. I love it!
Great review Nick 🤙
Hey Nick. I have the Damascus version and the pocket clip screws on mine are flush. Maybe a quietly done cqi?
Wow, that black one looks a whole-lot better. Keep at it Nick, you rock!
Congrats on 110K that extra 10 came fast.
This knife is sick! My favorite is still the McKenna
I love my all black one. Did you see where the blade is marked d2? It is there. I like to thumb roll mine open, like a front flipper, and the finger flick isnt bad for me but I have large hands.
But Nick, how do you feel about the blade?
The handles look like cartoon caricatures of handles. Always something with civivi.
@Jack Nemo is that right? Not trying too sound like a dick or anything but it doesn’t really matter that much does it?
I will personally take how they feel in hand but each to their own that’s the beauty of freedom of choice/speech have a beautiful day
I always preferred to flip mine with my thumb on the flipper tab and fingers holding the pocket clip.
Very interesting piece...
Thanks for another great review...

Gorgeous blade shape
Reminds me of spydiechef
Nick, I want to hear your thoughts on the QSP locust
the flipper tab is a little too small imo, got the damascus one. still super cool.

I would say that the variance between the two is probably because the black one is broken in and the orange is brand new
Didn’t Isham do the McKenna?
Yes
This is probably an older video from his backlog and may have been filmed before the McKenna was produced
Yep, this was pre-McKenna
Erin R , thanks for that info.
Isham made the plethiros for civivi as well before this, so not his first civivi, but great review 😚

Check out CRKT LCK. Nick has a review.
I love mine and it was about $25.00
Thomas h can’t find it anywhere
Spencer Braithwaite Ontario Rat 2
QSP penguin for 35. It is a stellar performer and it feels like a knife that's 2-3x its price.

Brass and 154 cm out now
This is a knife that keeps finding its way into my shopping cart, but I never seem to pull the trigger on.
I like the D2 steel.
If you decide to adjust the lock bar to loosen the detent strength, I'd love to see a video showing how you do it. It would be helpful to many of us.

Nick.. please do the slysz swayback
Not a fan of the g10 not being backed by liners on the pivot end. Looks like a crud catcher or a broken scale if dropped.
G10 is tough stuff I doubt if will cause any actual issue.
Great stuff 👍
That flipper tab does look painful
“Dali-esque” -perfect

Hey knife guys. Would you go for the Ontario Rat 2 in D2 steel @ $50 or the Civivi McKenna in D2 @ $70 for a light use carry knife?
I'd get the McKenna. It's quite a bit lighter, thinner in the pocket, deep carry clip, obtrusive flipper tab, and has a steel bearing pivot to make the front flipper easy to deploy. @@coralinealgae Thanks for the insight!
For light use, I would go for the McKenna any day. The only problem being the front flipper, which it seems some people don't understand

RIP Isham
Love those happy accident it is a thing.
When will 154cm be the new budget steel....
It is for Kizer 's Vanguard series
That will be a wonderful day.
I don’t think that’s a finger choil! It looks too small and isham doesn’t do unergonomic

I really hope a Shabazz to English dictionary is in the works.
No can do, I'm too far gone :D
Hey, cattywampus is in the dictionary! I know b/c I had to look it up :)
You need to do a Nick Dictionary
Nicktionnary
i kinda open mine like a front flipper with my thumb
The action on my Anthropos is the gummiest of any of my 10+ Civivis. It looks nice but honestly, it's a disappointment.
buy a mckenna or elementum youll be doing yourself a favor. This is alright but not on their level
I though the mckenna was first civivi/ elisha
Anthropos is Greek for human.
Elijah passed up the opportunity to makes this knife 6" long.🤣
every time you use this knife as a knife? what else would you use it as? a spoon lol
Ahhhh yes, just be careful to not stab your tongue with your spoon...
I suspect there are knife owners who primarily use their knives as figit spinners
2xD2 Rats for one of these? Meh. I don't see the "value" in the proposition.
I like it, but maybe not so much if it smells like someone's DNA 😬
Of course it's not perfect. It's only human.
First!!
$80 for D2, lul
