@@saadtheman1 Toyota isn’t even top 10 on CR 2021 reliability list. The GMC has a proven smooth 9 speed with a smooth and powerful 1.5 T or 2.0 T that you will find getting an easy 200,000 miles. I work on cars and there’s a lot of red flags on the new Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura products. It all has to do with faulty (cheap) electrical systems and harness

I’ve come around on the buttons a little bit. I don’t love them, but I’ve started to understand the reasoning. They take up much less space, they allow you to design a quieter cabin. That shift lever takes up a lot of space in the Rav 4. Now I will definitely gripe about the shift button location. The location right up in the line of sight on the newer Yukon, Tahoe, etc. is much nicer to me.

You made valid points while driving! wow- I agree with: the shift, I hate buttons also, I am concerned with the electronics of the buttons as opposed to the mechanical shift. Also good point - the history of GMC vs Toyota. Thanks, I am going for the Terrain because I also like the feeling of bigger space inside the vehicle and the entertainment. -One more thing, am not sure if you mentioned the rearview mirror. I prefer the Rav4's, as the Terrain rearview mirror is unusually small. But I will have not problem with that as I would buy one of those gadgets that record and are attached to the rearview mirror. thanks very much, Al

Own both of these. The Toyota is a better and more reliable car with more features, but the GMC has smoother, fancier and more luxurious features. The RAV4 is higher up and larger. The Terrain is more expensive and more luxurious. It’s not in the same class. You cannot compare GMC with Honda and Toyota when it comes to the features. The Toyota is definitely the best car in the class though.

Mention "transmission glitches" and I'm outta there. Had a 1987 Mazda 323 that was a colossal PITA with transmission problems. My daughter has a 2018 Terrain that I've driven. I don't know what you mean exactly by "smaller". The 2018-2022 model Terrains are about 182in long and 73in wide. The Rav 4 is 180-182in long for the TRD model. And around the same width as the Terrain. So it's actually a perfect comparison size wise. The real difference between the two is ground clearance. The Terrain on ALL models is 7.9in while the Rav 4 is about 8.5in. FAR better for off roading. You want something no less than 8in for "soft" off roading and FAR more if your getting into ruts and climbing rock trails.

You can see the terrain chassis a bit stronger when you see rav4 and terrain. About reliability i think no one still can not beat toyota. Those r the only thing i see terai. Can win rav4. American vehicles does have the sleek look, sure, BUT in the long run, they'll cost more on maintenance issues, gas, and other typical unreliable aspects
