5:15 IRL Depending on design and location, wind turbines will make their money back normally between 2 to 3 years and that is down from 3 to 5 years max a few years ago
Most homeowners in the United States can expect their solar panels to pay for themselves in between 9 and 12 years, depending on the state they live in
As a South African (we practically live off solar) I can say with confidence that most solar systems only last about 10 years. Also be careful of the batteries, use lithium not lead batteries. When leads power dips below 50% it can cause permanent damage to the battery. Way too many people fall for this.
I did not know it was that long-in the UK, it is between 3 and 7 years for house owners, but one company I know spent £32,000 on insulation to supply electricity for the company, and the ROI was 9 months. There are people with solar panels that are 40 years old and they still work - The design and efficiency have come a long way since then including the production cost of the panels which have dropped by up to 80-90%
Nice video, thanks. It is very useful to know roughly how long it takes to become profitable. Getting some sort of shed with panels on at the start of a map could be good as the income generated does a lot to even out the pesky overnight charges. Could be interesting to consider something like the Large Solar collector in specific circumstances like challenges (love challenges), where you know you will be on a map for a while.
The shed solar seems to be on track if you subtract the price of the shed. The math for the cost of just adding the panels vs income lines up with the stand alone panels on payback period. I think at least Loving the videos! Been binging them while I'm stuck at work.
@@DisTurbedSimulations I look at it as more of a bonus as you can use the shed without the panels, but all good anyway you always make profit eventually. Just depends on you play.

Yeah, I find so often with mods that stuff is really badly balanced it's nice to see Giants have done a decent job.
Cheers. It’s interesting that the large solar panel is over 3 times that of the shed, but not surprising.
One is a dedicated generator the other is not
Great video, thx and subd
Thanks for the sub!

Agree, that last column should have been 32k cost not 42 cost as the shed shouldn't count in the overall amount.
@harag9 you can redo the maths without it. But you can't buy the solar panels without paying for the shed

I honestly assumed they were just cosmetic additions. I was pretty happy to see this video and learn they bring in some money at least.
The small solar collector is so undersized for its production that it is silly. They should have made the object more realistic.
It is crazy small.
This is the data i was looking for days ! THX
you're welcome
Great information video D/S as always 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks 👍
Nice informative video as always DS.
