    Might I suggest a flood gate to replace the sluice gates at the end of the jetty and have them set to open fully at the start of a bad tide and close at contamination level zero. Not sure if possible I’m not familiar with the water controls on the stream gauges

      yup that's an option, I was thinking about levees on top of the sluices, as I have a longer term place for something a little more complex there

    After deepening the bad water outflow. You might want to straighten it too. Then you could platform and impermeable floor it and build your storage over the river.

    48:19 I would recommend leaving it in the farming district AND add centrifuge and explosives factory just near it. The reason is simple - usage of bad water is quiet significant and by itself it is used only for extract and explosives with a high conversion rate. And those (at least until end-game) are used periodically, not as constant flow. The same with metal - scrap is much heavier, is not used anywhere else, and in addition to more weight - it is also a conversion 3 to 2 (2 to 1 in base factions). Ideally both metal and bad water would be separate districts with bots (so you need only fuel and grease instead of foods, juices, etc.), and it is very effective to use them like this. Another import is wood, but consumption for both cases is so low, that it is not a problem at all, usually it is not even worse it to do wood farms in those outposts.

      This is great information, I'd totally overlooked the weight of things. Thank you for pointing that out. That really makes having metal processing close to scrap collection a good idea.

      @@DisTurbedSimulations it is not that big of an issue when you are literally sitting on scrap/mine/bad water source, but for distant outposts - yeah, it becomes a problem to the point you need more haulers, than haulers+crossing with the outpost) About crossings - you don't need a full crossing (for bots operated outpost) for a mine for 100% utilization, not sure how many workers you need though. For bad water rig - you will need at least 1 full crossing for 100% utilization. But the thing is - 40 per hour is so much, you won't need it to run 100% for a very long time)

    Another excellent video. Right at the water source you have a 2x3 of trees that keep getting killed by the bad tide. Right across the road you have a 2x3 of hospital and oil storage behind the contamination barrier; swap them? Definite quote of the episode at 23 minutes, "We're going to get some wet beaver, that's fine. 😐"

    I imagine the badwater splash back was caused due to the sluices nearest the water sources detecting the contamination and closing, but the ones at the end to jettison the badwater hadn't detected any contamination, so remained closed. This created a closed pool that then overspilled, at which point the sluices detected the contamination and opened. What surepised me was there was no/limited contamination in the middle pool. I'd have kept the badwater sluices nearest the sources, but replaced the ones furthest away with dams set to 0.90, so in the even of the flow being block the one end, there's always escape without overspilling. Great episode, and it's always fascinating to see how the water physics are different across the map.

      Yeah cloudfire said the same, I think it wasn't an issue before as the flood gates were controlled off one stream gauge. Now I understand the problem the original setup could do back with some refinement, but I'm not sure if the deeper out flow might be better anywaym

    Just an observation, if you move a flat top sluice to the other end of the large reservoir, to the dam next to the new district centre the over flow could wash out the bad water and then make it way around to add to the flow powering your wheels!

    i was thinking perhaps under the current path, water canal and shafts can be routed all over to spread greenary which keeps the trees alive. 38:40 maybe the extra old age deaths and 24 hours working day have some relations, less hours increases happiness maybe more hours affects life 49:00 it seems builders are bringing the material themselves, not using the small warehouses given for it, i see beavers are walking between main colony and rig, not walkinging between nearest warehouse and rig. is there some setting missed? i think its properly set still! edit. i guess you explained it, no haulers at this time due to population decline.

    MAN Your colony is looking good! and beautiful!!! :D staggering the water output like that will slow water.. on one side, blast out the block that's pointing into the path, toward center. <every other one> that'll open it up enough for flow ... 48:20 I'm STILL waiting for you to see you set the crossing exit right into the building next to it lol 52:50 you got the bad water splash because you're using 2 sets of sleuth's with different settings to hold water in a pool inside your bad water diversion channel <meaning the one opened and started pushing bad water, but the second set didn't and wouldn't open until there was enough overflow toward it to trigger a contamination opening, just need 1 set to open on clean water, and second to open on contaminated> ;) they should both be auto open on 1% contamination ;) personally.. I'd remove the second set of sleuth's and the system would work perfect :D dam's are for overflows.. floodgates are to control water height upstream.. sleuth's are to control water height downstream. That's why a sleuth into a sleuth channel doesn't work well unless you have a "pool" at the end to trigger them all to open / close in sequence :) I can't wait to see some of your upcoming idea's!! You've already given me a few for my builds! <3 Keep up the awesome video's!!

      48:20 - doesn't matter, the district centre will be rotated 180 degrees when it's going to be used. 52:50 - yeah the issue was explained to me a few comments ago, the main problem seems to be previously the flood gates were controlled off of 1 stream gauge so switched together. The sluices are not, they are changing independently, so there is a point both are closed.

    Youve probably already fixed it, but the bad water splashing is due to the timing between your sluices. They are both set to 1% but they don't reach 1% at the same time because they aren't equidistant from the source, so there is a short period where both sides are closed and it overflows. If you give your clean water side a slightly higher %, or move the clean side sluices further from the source, it should allow the dump side time to open first before your main route closes off, avoiding the overflow.

    I sometimes like to do baling contracts for a bit of extra cash, however, when I use CoursePlay the baling is very inefficient (runs up and back in between the straw swaths). It eventually gets everything but is slow. Is there a good set of CoursePlay settings for baling contracts to make them more efficient (i.e. number of headlands, working width, etc.)? Just curious.

      Use the same course as you used to create the swaths. With FS25 and baling contracts that's not possible, so I guess try to adjust the course settings to match the swaths

    I’m honestly amazed at how much that plateau is holding up. I thought you expand outward by now. This is currently my favorite series in Timberborn (sorry JC close second).

      We are approaching the limit rapidly, but the map is laid out really nicely for expansion and I've tried to pack things in pretty densely until I had to panic build storage . And that is a huge compliment, glad you are enjoying the series.

      27:35 - seems pointless when it would only irrigate an area 1 block wider than the contstrction. Beavers are getting wet because they are being sent in to the water, -2 well being isn't that bad a penalty. 57:25 - not really a priority as there is not space to upgrade them so deleteing means loosing storage 1:03:00 coming soon TM, I think more small districts is going to be my approach here (until it frustrates me) as it's not really something I've done before. This new area has the potential for lots of farming and forestry I think. And thanks, we seem to be leaping forwards tech wise, not sure if the emberpelts make it easier or if this save is just having something different happen

    Excellent video thanks. Given Giants have yet to change the grass yield, fag packet maths based on 4 cuts and putting it through the BGA still only increases profit to about 3.75M and the amount of time taken would of course increase greatly. Poplar for the win. As I've said before I think Lettuce will run Poplar close. Cows is interesting but I think Buffalo would be even more interesting as Buffalo Mozzarella sells for silly money and the smaller quantities would make it a trifle easier timewise. However to stand any chance I think you would need to use a modded cow shed as base game ones are prohibitively expensive and cows/buffalo chew through a lot of food and straw. THinking about it more it would also be hampered by the slow production rates of base game dairies.

      Yeah if you need to use a dairy the slow rates and the fact they cost £210,000 each will mean they don't have a chance. And of you need a heavily modded one, well then it starts to get unbalanced.

    Adding more water tanks every cycle is smart, but maybe have a similar approach for the water reservoir? The reservoir pretty much is 2 dams between cliffs, so maybe add a layer to 1 dam every cycle (raising the whole reservoir 1 higher every 2 cycles). That stagnant part of the river is nice to help push excess water towards the power wheels, but as badtides get longer, the contamination percentage of that stagnant water should go up and up. A more permanent dam will eventually be required. I'd probably put sluices in that dam so that clean water can still flow into the area but badwater cannot. That way you keep the natural irrigation of the river.

      Raising the dam will happen, but it not a priority yet. As for the stagnant section, tune in next time ;) But until there is actually clean water flowing probably not worth having sluices in there to refill that section. You'll hear my longer term plan for it next video ;)

    im wondering if the big gear workshop is any better than two single normal workshops, big one takes 2 beavers and makes 2 gears in 1.5 hours, normal one takes 1 beaver and makes 1 gear in 3 hours.

      It's double production without double the space. Same output as two normal but used 3/4 of the tiles

    * The new district place also is a nice location for the tree forest like the one JC has got in his hard mode game, one round fertile land full of forest, looks nice. maybe sprinkle a bit of other trees also to make it looks nicer. and the pines or maples in this forrest can be left intact and only used for resin and syrup. the forest will look interesting. :) * The numbercruncher once unlocked completely removes all science points scarity, so the waiting for points ends and many beavers are also unlocked. eases the game a lot * the badwater capping also finishes off an important aspect of the game update and suddenly many of the challenges go away. The fun bad-good water aaahhh emergency PS. once i start writing lots of bonus thoughts also come along . love your videos and the town you've made. The badwater island can be an industrial location for all badwater needs, and if all the islands are connected up together to make a grid of power, then itll work nicely

      The new district is going to be a mix of farming and forest, a mixed forest is an interesting idea. lots of work to set up but does look nicer. I did something like that on the map JC is playing now in a large area that I just wanted to map look nice but didn't use. And yup, you'll start to see that next video. And you are stealing ideas from the next video already ;) I do like to have 1 big power grid if I can, especially with a map like this where we can generate a lot of power quite easily (assuming we have water)

    I want to thank you again for the "preset" of 50-150 days! Did a couple playthroughs like that with Emberpelts and it was way too easy. But then I decided to do Ironteeth on Beaverome... And that actually made me think xD I haven't played long enough for handicap to fully lift, but already got one wipe when I have chosen the wrong strategy and got 4 bad tides in a row with close to max duration (accounting for the handicap ofc). Starting thinking about Thousand Islands, but I doubt it is possible without Emberpelts or ridiculous handicap.

      Thousand islands is an interesting map, I've played it a couple of times now. The last time I did a series on youtube I wiped early on hard mode. With emberpelts you can exploit a few things but the basegame factions and long droughts / badtides would be really hard.

    Welcome, hope you're feeling better than earlier, small improvements are good improvements. * The scrap metal island can be joined using bridges in future, might require a column of platform in the middle but that will reduce the walking distance a lot, and that area is nice for industrial production as its not arable and also has water wheels nearby * 1 tile size fun, aesthtic, awe, etc things can be placed on lodgees, and then covered with platforms to build next level of lodges. it will be a good way to provide effect on most beavers with least items. * I really liked you power shaft placement, nice and organic following the up down of the existing terrain, as game doesnt lose any power regardless of how many turns and length we have, its nice to follow the land.

      I'm mostly over the flu now. Good reminder about switching to a bridge, now science isn't an issue that is something we can do easily. Also means I can stop worrying about the causeway flooding I'm slowing adding those, but was prioritizing science until part way through the next episode And thanks, without access to explosives and with minimal resources it seems the best way to build stuff.

    Great video! While you can never have too much water stored, I found in my emberpelts play through water ended up really just being used for irrigation and making juice. I also found I wasn’t overly concerned about wet fur either! I’m glad you play to relax because I watch to relax!

      Thanks, yeah it does seem (even fixing a mistake in the next video) that water usage isn't that high. That's a good thing though as it will allow me to expand and focus on fun building things rather than just how much water can I store.

    Nice one this episode. Lots of progress. I'm uncertain about how you plan to move forward, but I would love to see multiple districts showcased on the map. Having a variety of small towns scattered throughout, each with its unique specialties, would create an appealing layout instead of just one large town dominating the scene.

      I think he gets a lot of comments expecting perfection, and it's a hell of a lot easier seeing mistakes from the other side of the screen.     Just to help clear your thoughts yes smart power is turned on the intermittent on and off of the engines were because of the flywheels slowly draining at night. So the engines were just trying to keep them topped up

      At the first point I talked about it it was installed but I had somehow unticked it, you'll see later on it starts behaving properly and we get the options associated with smart power to manage how the engines charge the flywheels with I actually activate it.
