Thanks for this very sane and sanity preserving talk, Barry. Maintaining perspective and having an eye on the long game, plus faith in the mass of ordinary people who want to stick to reality, is so vitally important for holding onto positivity and optimism.
With FWS v Scotgov putting its coats on pegs and taking a tinkle before proceedings begin, this might be the one that does it. (This was one of your finest, IMO, and a great comfort. 🙏)
Exactly. It isn't about getting a general election. We know we're not going to get one until 4.5 years' time. We're just letting our voices be heard. We're withdrawing our consent. Also, let your MP know you've signed it and tell them why. It's all we've got now.
The thing I've noticed about starmer is the utter incredulity on his face when he's talking to someone who isn't fully aligned with his views, and that also shows that he'll be incapable of changing his mind on anything at all.
One TH-camr wonder on his video whether Starmer might be 'neurodivergent' because of his absolute incapability of understanding others' points of view, and even that he has been morally wrong in accepting all the freebies while simultaneously condemning lavish political donations.
@@beastrabban5991 I think thats an insult to "neurodivergent" people to be honest in my experience they are far more flexible and understanding, he's got the hallmarks of something else like psychopathy or something.

It could be close to 2 million They really can't ignore numbers like that. And your bang on about they're wanting a utopia. Problem being not everyone they're in bed with ultimately wants to share.
One of the key sentences you said in this excellent piece is..'think on it'..sadly that isn't happening enough. I love these chats of yours, you put such a calming reality on our situation and it makes me feel safe. I did see somewhere that apparently this petition has grown faster than the George Floyd one (didn't remember there was one🤔). Sharing this excellent post to X with massive thanks. Enjoy your Sunday too😊
Utopianism is exactly it. Plus I know I was especially vulnerable to falling for it, myself, being someone who was always a bit of a misfit, and thought a lot of social norms were just weird, dumb, arbitrary, and oppressive. (Part of this was my autism, definitely.) And it makes you start to think: “wouldn’t the world be so wonderful if we just threw out all those rigid norms, and people got to fully be THEMSELVES??” Plus also, being a harmless from of weird, myself, and also extremely NAIVE at the time..? I had not yet realized that weirdness / difference can be harmless, yes, but there are also people that are a truly HARMFUL form of weird! (AGPs being one example of that.) And that by tearing down all boundaries, and just saying YES to weirdness, generally speaking..? You enable them to get away with all kinds of EXTREMELY detrimental, dangerous stuff! Plus I used to be in love with this whole idea of tearing down structures and categories, both as a form of glorified rebellion, (I always had a lot of rebellion in me, too!! Funny how me being a TERF now ALSO goes great with that. I’ve just changed my mind on what I think the problem is, and what I find oppressive 😛), and because I naively thought: “if we tear all this stuff down, what awaits on the other side will automatically be BETTER!” I had not yet learned a very important later life lesson, which is: if you tear something down, without having anything better to replace it with, what remains is going to be WORSE! Not better! Plus something is going to have to fall into that newly created void, to refill it! And that thing..? Could be anything, and is very likely to be BAD, as many people will swoop in to selfishly take ADVANTAGE of the newly created void! Anyway, I digress… Enter gender ideology, and: “here is a way we can TEAR DOWN oppressive structures, and create a WONDERFUL, DIVERSE, open-minded rainbow world, in which everyone gets to just be THEMSELVES”..? Was clearly gonna appeal to me, with my specific type of circumstances, mind, lived experience, and personal traits! But they still had to do this one very essential switcheroo, that they in all fairness EASILY pulled off, which was going from: “I think oppressive sex role stereotypes suck”, (which I always thought, and indeed STILL think, which is why I’m also a feminist now! And pro LGB!), to: “oppressive sex role stereotypes suck, and having a set notion of SEX as something that’s real and unchangeable is part of the problem!” Which.. back then, I did not see how the second / TRA part of it in fact just helped PERPETUATE sexism, rather than challenge it! Because on surface value, gender ideology purports to be anti sexism, and I remember really liking that sense of: “ah, they ALSO think those enforced, dumb, arbitrary norms suck! YAY, validation of something I have always felt!” I just didn’t get that the sex denial part of it in fact COMPLETELY flips it on its head, and turns it into just a different form of egregious sexism, 2.0!!! But when I started seeing it, that was a big part of what eventually made me peak. So having a core value of disliking sexism, and then having that hijacked and turned AGAINST you, by being presented with gender ideology as the only legit alternative to conservative sex role stereotypes..? Is such a real freaking thing!! And I seriously wonder, if I’d started listening to rad fems FIRST, I may just ALWAYS have been on that side, instead. ❤ LOL, this is a ramble and a half already! Why does this always happen to meeeeee??? 😛 Gonna go sleep now. But yeah.. I guess I was the “naive, rebellious, idealistic misfit” archetype, as far as TRA conversion fodder goes… And I dare say I’m not the only one! I think a lot of sincere believers are like that. Although also, I now think, a lot of the people who SAY they support gender ideology..? Are not true believers, like I was! But rather virtue signalling opportunists, who want to look good, and don’t think about it very deeply. Gahhhhh, I hate humanity sometimes! At least I’m still glad I was never THAT. And I was dumb, naive, and easily manipulated, yes. But at least I had integrity, and I always CARED. Hence why I’m on this side now. 🙂❤
Its a push for uniformity. I am not driven by money or material things (up to a point) but I recognise that this drive *can* drive innovation but we also need people who drive change because of iidealism…I am thinking of Charnley’s hip here…Surgeon who pioneered hip replacement…One size does not fit all…I was driven to reflect on this after watching a wealthy man restore a Tudor dwelling… I am glad he made his millions to be able to save it.
@@tish3092 we can't all be rich but don't drive those that are away. I think jealousy comes into this with some but Starmer is wealthy as well but doesn't get his huge pension taxed, but why not? My philosophy is that we should be free to do what we want with our lives as long as we are not impacting or exploiting other people (as well as not doing anything criminal of course).

I wish it did work like that but they were voted in, so more people should have voted in the general election and not for Labour!
