When's your next track day? look forward to part 2.
Ha! 12th September at Bedford 😜
It's allways good to see you making parts, I learn something new with each video
Glad to hear that!
Brilliant video mate.
Glad you enjoyed it
Although you’ve done quite a few vids on making different body panels, it doesn’t get repetitive and actually that part of the reason I subscribed to your channel. It intrigues me to see the processes used, I guess the next step over winter will be to remake the sides of the body shell in Kevlar composites.
Thank you! It could be because I always try different things like materials or process. But yes over winter rest of the car Inc doors shall be Kevlar!
Great work and happy to hear about e glass, must try it
Do it!
Always like a good composites video, have to say kevlar just looks the bees knees! Even if you lose the green graphics still will look fab!
Thanks for that!
Looks like there's enough convex curve to add enough strength. I don't know why more people don't use E glass, it has some fantastic properties. as well as being lite and cheep ( compared with carbon )....
I like to use poly resin with E glass as I find epoxy doesn't wet out as easy. But if your going to use carbon and kev on top of that a bit of extra time wetting out with epoxy won't really get in your way.
Great point! i used E-glass before and its a great filler base layer. unless you use 5+ layers weight difference is insignificant compared to carbon. price is near 5 times less!
Any video is a good video 👍 if anything the more carbon/Kevlar videos you do makes me want to do my full car 😂
Coming soon!
I am leaving a comment because Ruski begged me. 🤣
you know how it is haha. and thank you!
Great update, what type of resin did you use? And was the Eglass from Easy composites?
Yes it was. and i always use EL2 resin for hand laminating
Comment for the algorithm
cheers for that
@@RuskiWeldFab Hoping to make it to Mallory Park this Saturday to say hi.
My Clio was 820 kg, you anywhere near that? 😉
Not even close
Thats the next Job for me on the Micra...
OH YES!!!!
If you're really serious about being lite, and going fast, you should fit a magnesium exhaust header...... Some people might think that's a bit flash..............
Here's something that might interest you th-cam.com/video/b3DESDFTmUg/w-d-xo.html...... Yes it works.
Uncle bill has about 200 videos on back yard fiberglass on a budget.
yeah i have seen quite a few of his videos! very good
i never find tour videos boring... its amazing knowledge... thank you for sharing the good and the bad of it all.
Glad to hear it!
You should mention about resin:fibre ratios between different reinforcements you use to highlight where the extra weight comes from
thats a good point. thank you!
Mega job and the screen looks a great fit too. Waiting for the final reveal and total weight saved in pt / 👍🏻
You and me both!
I’d really like to see you have a go at a proper job and not cut corners yes I get it race kar etc and pounds but I’d just like to see you have a proper go at it
Define “proper go” 😂. Also next video might be just that 😉
@@RuskiWeldFab something where you take time and pride and actually create a piece where the attitude is never mind it’s just a race car lol. You have the skills. You race in a series that is what 6 weekends of the year so you have the time. I just think you could apply better techniques and attention to detail. So to me, proper is finishing a panel but then not having to justify why it’s not as light. You have everything you need just don’t rush it man have some pride.
So good. Carbon work never gets boring.
Cheers!
Have you made carbon doors?
not yet
SUPER 👍👍👍👍👍😻😻😻😻😻
Thank you 🤗
How does skinning compare to moulding for getting the correct size parts? For Instance when skinning a bonnet wouldn't the inside of your part be the same size as the outside of the original? Or is there a way to get around that?
Good question and the one that has been asked plenty before. YES skinning will increase the part size BUT only by the thickness of material. So effectively 1-1.5mm in most cases. And I Believe that’s way with in the tolerance for any body part.
@@RuskiWeldFab sorry, I'm new to the channel and wasn't aware. Thankyou for getting back to me
@@samuelmdouglas oh no I didn’t mean it like that “don’t ask me same questions” haha. I mean it’s a very common question and the one I probably not answered enough
@@RuskiWeldFab that's algood mate, and again thanks for getting back to me.
Looks awesome great work!
Glad you think so!
Looks awesome
It does!
This love relationship with that clio is unbelievable. You put more composites on it than a Pagani😂.
You became really good at it too. I love it
Glad you liked it!!
I think I would found working with composites interesting even if you make hundreds of those videos 🙂 Great video as always !
Thank you!
Amazing job on the tailgate - cant wait for part 2 and also see it on the car
yeah looks good. 😎. part 2 will be ready early next week!
🍔🍔
Fantastic job, looking forward to part 2 👍🏽
