This and Demolition Man are a great double feature. It's when Hollywood realized the 80s style of action film was on life support and figured "Might as well have some fun going out".
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone starred together in the "2013 movie Escape Plan" Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone also starred together in The Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3, and Schwarzenegger made an uncredited cameo in The Expendables.
YES, it was Robert Patrick from "TERMINATOR 2" and in the same scene the woman on the left was Sharon Stone in her outfit from "BASIC INSTINCT". The movie from which "Death" came into the real world was Ingmar Bergman's "THE SEVENTH SEAL" - and yes, it was indeed Ian McKellen from "X-MEN" or "LORD OF THE RINGS"
Robert Patrick worked with Arnie in T2, Sharron Stone worked with Arnie in Total Recall...and the voice of Whiskers the animated cat was Danny DeVito - who worked with Arnie in Twins. 😉
Lol when I heard that, I assumed it was his name in an alternate universe or arnold from wish type situation. 😂😂😂😂😂 I didn't know til after it was a joke on his name. That was too funny!!!!😂😂😂
The old black and white movie that Death come put of is meant to be the Swedish movie The Seventh Seal from 1957. It is from a scen in the movie where a knight (Max Von Sydow) play chess with Death (Bengt Ekeror). The movie is by one of Swedens most iconic directors Ingmar Bergman. Bengt Ekerot past away in the 1970s so thay have Sir Ian McKellen standing in for him.
This film just gets better and better over the years. Nobody understood the concept of 'meta' when this came out and lots of people didn't like it, or get it. It was way ahead of it's time.
I say if you don't love this movie, you probably don't love movies. Very true. I've waited for people to get this movie and give it's due since I was made fun of for liking it.
Stallone and Schwarzenegger had a rivalry during the 80's & 90's about who could make the most testosterone-filled action flick which resulted in playful in-movie jokes like Arnold praising the Terminator 2 Stallone poster (Stallone makes a similar joke in Demolition Man, praising Schwarzenegger's political career, which eventually became ironic as Arnold went on to become the governor of California).
This movie has one awesome soundtrack. AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Queensryche, Def Leppard, Anthrax, Aerosmith, Cypress Hill, Fishbone, and Tesla.
Here some easter eggs for ya. This movie was directed by John McTiernan, director of Die Hard 1 and 3 and Predator etc, and co written by Shane Black(who also co-starred with Arnold in Predator as Hawkins, for which the town is named after in Stranger Things), who wrote Lethal Weapon, so one of the earliest eggs is the beginning shootout taking place on Christmas, since Shane's movies all take place around Christmas. Starting with the old black cop on the palm tree saying "2 days to retirement" and the sax playing immediately, a reference to Danny Glover's Murtaugh and Lethal Weapon. Yes, that was the cop/T-1000 from Terminator, walking out after Sharon Stone as her character Catherine Tramell from Basic Instinct lighting up a cigarettes. The scene with the helicopter red crosshairs pointing at Arnold's face is a reference to Predator, same as having Little Richard, his song is used in Predator helicopter ride . The video rental store they enter is named "ACME Video" as in the company that exists in Wiley Coyote and all WB cartoons. You can see videotapes of Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, and Medicine Man on the same shelf with the blond, all directed by McTiernan. Danny lives on apartment 3D, as in the real world, while Arnold is from a 2D world. Or during the Jack Slater IV intro, they show four walls being destroyed. While the movie references many action movie tropes, they actually go as far as breaking the fourth wall. Another quick one easy to miss, Danny tells Jack Slater that he can't say "the F-word" because it is a PG-13 movie. At the end of the film, and in the middle of one of his classic tirades, Dekker drops an F-bomb during his "Save The Eagles Foundation" line. One I always found sweet, is Danny watching a clip in English class from Hamlet (1948), starring Sir Lawrence Olivier. The English teacher that introduces the clip is played by Joan Plowright, Lawrence Olivier's real-life wife, who's also been in many movies like Dennis The Menace, as the wife of Grumpy Old Men star Walter Matthau. When Tony Vivaldi accuses Benedict of “doing a 360 on me,” Benedict actually does a 360 before they start talking.
I'm so glad you all are watching this! This is one of the most underrated films from the 90's as is Gattaca. I hope you enjoyed this and I always enjoy your reactions!
Producer's note: ❤️❤️❤️ I asked Abby to not read comments on this video because they may spoil a couple of movies she has not seen. I am glad she is not going to see this comment, because you just gave me the idea to get her to react to the theme from The Raccoons. Abby loves raccoons more than anything. Thanks for this!
When the cops are killed in the house explosion and the dying older black cop says "2 days to retirement", the saxophone music is a reference to Danny Glover in the "Lethal Weapon" movies.
Frank McRae who played Arnies superior, played a similar role in the buddy cop movie 48 Hours…he also played James Bond’s friend “sharkey “ in licence to kill
John Mctiernan also directed The Hunt for Red October, which stars Alec Baldwin and Sean Connery. The Ripper is played by 6'7 actor Tom Noonan, who's also been in Manhunter and RoboCop 2. The lead villain is played by Charles Dance, who's also been in Alien 3, Game of Thrones, Dracula Untold, the two most recent Underworld films and one of the Godzilla films. The actress playing Jack Slater's daughter has also been in Mortal Kombat and Billy Madison. This released the same year as Demolition Man, Cliffhanger and Jurassic Park. This features music by AC/DC and Megadeth. I highly recommend watching Twins, Red Heat, Eraser and FUBAR
A severely underrated gem this one. So much fun. :) And Death comes out of the movie The Seventh Seal by Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. It's a famous scene where a knight plays chess with Death for a reprieve.
I LOVE YOU TOY! I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS WITH YOUR WHOLE GANG! THANK GOD THERE'S BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE LIKE YOU REACTING TO THESE AMAZING MOVIES! FEELS LIKE I' M THERE WITH YOU GUYS. STAY SAFE & FOREVER BEAUTIFUL.. I LOVE YOU TOY...
One my favorite guilty pleasure films. Definitely Arnold's most underrated film. Silly as all hell but with an incredibly solid cast. Plus, what kid didn't dream of something like this when they were 10-12 years old?
Yes, the cop was -Jason- Robert Patrick. And the blonde woman on the left was Sharon Stone wearing the same white suit from "Basic Instinct" (1992) The B&W movie with Death was "The Seventh Seal" (1957) written & directed by Ingmar Bergman and starring Max Von Sydow. The scene of playing chess with Death is quite well known. The Death who came out of the movie was played by Ian McKellen (Magneto and Gandalf).
Loved this movie since I was a kid. I was 8 when it came out way ahead of its time. Let me also respectfully say both you ladies are lovely. That being said the one on the left DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.
I remember when my mom took me, my bro & sis out to see this movie and it was the best movie I've ever seen. Then I use to own the action figures, the sega genesis game.
Hi. Great reaction! :) In my opinion, Last Action Hero is an highly underrated movie. It has action, fun, great cameos and even a bit of drama. In the last minutes of the movie, Death played by Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto in X-Men) is from the old but wonderful Swedish movie "The Seventh Seal" directed by Ingmar Bergman. Thank you for your great videos! :)
Stallone and Arnold did Escape Plan together in 2013. It’s on Netflix, it’s a pretty good movie. They also did the 3 expendables movies together but in terms of a movie with them both as the lead it’s Escape Plan.
Just to think that at the time, the type of whiplash ppl felt knowing the same director and the same writer of Predator with Arnie starring in that, also came together to direct and write this, with Arnie still starring… I believe this was underrated, as it didn’t do well at all the box office when it first came out.
So now that you've seen Arnold Schwarzenegger as the "Last Action Hero" you should check out Douglas Fairbanks (Sr) who was the "First Action Hero". The 1926 silent film "The Black Pirate" starring Fairbanks should be considered the FIRST of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. You might notice a few "piratey" stunts that appear in both movies. Fairbanks and his stunt assistant are credited with being the first perform the "knife slide down the mainsail" on film. I believe Capt Jack or Will Turner give that one a "rip" in one of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
The sad part is that this movie flopped mostly because of bad timing. It came out a week after Jurassic Park. Arnold tried to postpone the film’s release by 4 weeks. Columbia should’ve listened, It may not be a masterpiece, but it has its great moments аnd doesn’t take itself too seriously.
A few of the big action movie stars have done a self parody movie: Arnold did this movie. Sly did Demolition Man. And Jean Claude Van Damme did a really good one called JCVD. You’ve done the first two, now you should watch some Van Damme’ movies so you can watch JCVD; I recommend Bloodsport, Lionheart (I think Toy would love Lionheart, it is low key one of the sweetest and most heartwarming movies of the classic action period) Timecop, Sudden Death, Universal Soldier
It's funny, but after I had a stroke in May, my manual ability was so messed up that I couldn't snap my fingers. Hardly an essential skill, but when I regained enough of my motor skills to snap my fingers, I was ridiculously happy.
@@theeLonelyRedPanda Thanks. I still sometimes have days when I can't do much, but I'm usually pretty functional and incredibly grateful to have my life back. Never take the simple things for granted
Escape Plan is really the only movie that they star in together. The Expendables films pretty much has a who’s who of action stars. A big ensemble cast! Hi 👋🏾 Toy 😍😍😍😘😘😘
Stallone and Schwarzenegger are both in the following movies together: The Expendables 2 The Expendables 3 Escape Plan Obviously you would need to watch The Expendables first before reacting to parts 2 and 3.
12:18 The only movie I know of with the same premise is the massively underrated and overlooked Stay Tuned with John Ritter. If you haven't seen that one yet, it's just as fun as this one.

What's your favorite joke in this film?
This and Demolition Man are a great double feature. It's when Hollywood realized the 80s style of action film was on life support and figured "Might as well have some fun going out".
Demolition Man is my all time favorite Stallone movie. Commando is my favorite Arnold movie.
Definitely Arnie’s most underrated movie.
True
Exactly 💯
It's a clever little film and has heart.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone starred together in the "2013 movie Escape Plan"
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone also starred together in The Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3, and Schwarzenegger made an uncredited cameo in The Expendables.
If you count the Stallone standup ad in the video store he’s in this movie
The Expendables is a great action series and I always recommend people who have seen and enjoyed many action movies, especially Arnie and Sly.
Good job.
Robert Patrick worked with Arnie in T2, Sharron Stone worked with Arnie in Total Recall...and the voice of Whiskers the animated cat was Danny DeVito - who worked with Arnie in Twins. 😉
This, and True Lies, are my two absolute favorite Arnold movies.
I think Toy and Abby are ready for National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1.
I think that ereaser is a undet estimated jem.
@@matsv201 I specifically went to a drive-in double feature in the late nineties that was Eraser and Last Action Hero.
Yes that was the cop from Terminator 2 and the blond lighting up the cigarette right before that was Sharon Stone.
Robert Patrick.
Michael Kamen doing riffs from Lethal Weapon and Die Hard after the 'two days to retirement' line and the chicken car crash too
Didn't notice her before now.
It's so funny when Arnold Schwarzenegger says he's Arnold Braunschweiger in this movie.
Lol when I heard that, I assumed it was his name in an alternate universe or arnold from wish type situation. 😂😂😂😂😂 I didn't know til after it was a joke on his name. That was too funny!!!!😂😂😂

Back in the day, Bergman was common knowledge even to people who never saw any of his films, so people got the reference/joke.
This film just gets better and better over the years. Nobody understood the concept of 'meta' when this came out and lots of people didn't like it, or get it. It was way ahead of it's time.

In the movie Twins, Arnie saw the Rambo III poster, felt his bicep, and then dismissed Stallone as if he was nothing. LOL

Arnold + Stallone together in Expendables!
1:47 I think Arnold had a small part in one of the Expendables movies. That's the only one I could think of.
He has a cameo in the first one, and a bigger part in 2 and 3
I think him and Stallone did a prison escape movie.
Top 100 movies of all time!
In Twins, Arnold walks up to a Sly poster of Rambo and compares his arm to Sly's.
They're both in the Expendables. I think it's the second one.

The Expendables 2010 has Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger & Bruce Willis along with a bunch of other action movie guys.
arnie and sly were together on escape plan :)
Demolition Man mentioned 'Schwarzenegger Presidential Library' and this one had Stallone as The Terminator. Cross-over enough?

It would be "Excellent" if they reacted to a certain trilogy involving two certain "Valley Guys".🤘🤘 🎸🎸
There is only John Mctiernan to put a reference from "The Seventh Seal" in a action movie.
"To be, or not to be. Not to be." This soundtrack rocks so hard: Alice in Chains, Megadeth, AC/DC, Anthrax. Classic stuff.
