What I started to do is bake my potatoes instead of boiling it worked out great

Hellmann's mayonnaise is my choice, Duke's isn't sold in Philadelphia nor New Jersey. I also add extra chopped eggs, sweet relish and add a little sugar. Perfect Boiled Eggs Tip: Cover eggs with cold water, cover pot with a lid, bring water to full boil, immediately remove the pot from the hot burner, keep lid on the pot for 10-12 minutes, pour out the hot water, cover the eggs with cold water, leave alone until eggs are cooled.

I grew up with Hellmann's. When I moved to CA, Hellmann's is called Best Foods. But now that I'm back in OH and we can get Dukes, we like it much better. It has a tang & no added sugar which is important because my husband is diabetic. My Grandma taught me to cut most veggies & eggs in my hand like that. Now I use a cutting board. Your tips are so perfect, what I do as well. yum. Let it get cold, but eat in a few days or it can drain water. YUM. One thing my folks did was always boil with the potato peelings on then remove the skins which always gave a great taste. But I have started peeling them and then boiling them whole and then I only had to cut them up afterwards which gives it that same taste that you don't get when you boil them already precut although there are times when we pre cut the potatoes. It is almost impossible to mess up potato salad. You start with boiled potatoes and mayo and then just add what ever you like.
That said l am going to try this recipe except l may add some chopped black olives and just a couple of green ones.

I will definitely keep in mind to cut the potatoes a tad bit bigger because you are correct they eventually mush/crumble into the potato salad as time goes on
    I’m a Dukes girl
I use relish for hotdogs I prefer savory to sweet
I will definitely look into those spices I’m always on the hunt for new spices “verity is the spice of life”

I like them to stay together, mostly. Firm, but cooked. Not mashed potato consistency for the most part. I do like that they "give off" some potatoe in the salad and the mixing helps that. YUM

Hi AB! DUKE'S IS THE BEST MAYONNAISE! BEST POTATO SALAD IVE SEEN. My grandmother, mom, and Dad's potato salad different mixes but oh sooo good. This one looks like my dad's. Both mustard and mayonnaise base is so good! Cut my potatoes exactly like this after there boiled. Love your seasonings they look good. I need seasonings like this so I can taste them together. Not a cook like my mom and dad was where they made a mix but I can't remember can't find their recipes right now. You Make it look easy.

For seasoning I use dill weed, celery seed, paprika, sea salt, and black pepper. My mayo is Hellman's olive oil mayo and brown mustard. The potatoes I use is yukon golds, it adds a buttery flavor, vadalia onions, sweet relish and eggs..

I use Hellmans, Dukes, and Blue Plate. I do not use Miracle Whip! However I use Dill Relish and everything else you use too. I’ve found Creole seasoning helps kick it up a notch, I just don’t tell my husband ( he would swear it’s too spicy). I never thought about smoked paprika - that would be good. Bacon Salt?!?! That sounds amazing!

We love some potato salad! I'm from South Carolina, we cook Southern food and drink sweet tea! I have always used Duke's mayonnaise, but I need to buy some of that bacon sea salt to give it a kick! I don't use mayonnaise in my potato salad. Instead I use a dressing made from:
    • 1 beaten egg
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 tbsp. flour
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 cup vinegar
    • 2 tbsp. butter
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/4 tsp. pepper
Adding these to a pot and heating until thickened. That is real southern.

AB, I pretty much make my potato salad as you do. Duke’s is my preferred mayo, I use sweet relish (and add a little of the pickle juice), a little spicy brown mustard, celery, onion, sometimes finely diced red bell pepper, a little celery seed (it has more concentrated flavor than the fresh celery), a little salt, a little pepper and just a touch of sugar. Unfortunately, I can’t eat potato salad like I used to, so I make it mostly for my husband. He seems to like it the way I make it (or he’s just used to it….lol)

I make mine the same, but I add a little finely diced white onions. 🔥 also, i learned to take all the yolks out of my boiled eggs and make my mixture with that. That gives it the color first, so I’m only adding a shot of mustard for the “twang” and yes you said that right 😂 must be a TX thing. Then I dice up the whites of the egg and mix them in. 💯

I just eyeball the bowl of potatoes and estimate how much dressing it will take . I make the dressing in a seperate bowl, Dollop or two of mayo, mustard to the right color, Sweet relish and maybe some chopped dill pickle, chopped celery and onions, chopped hard boiled eggs. celery seed, a little vinegar, sometimes a dash of hot sauce. Toss it together.
