Nintendo bringing back obscure Japanese-Only titles from the dead and reintroducing them to the West is what I want to see more of. Hope Famicom Detective Club starts this trend.
These games deserve more love. If you like detective games, give these a shot and maybe Nintendo will make more titles and bring them to the west. It's a shame that this franchise was stuck exclusively in Japan for 30 over years.
The remakes were announced a year and a half ago. I'm sure it was done purely for Japanese fans. This kind of game sells well there, I think. Plus it's a known series there.
Hopefully Buddy Mission BOND is the next game they risk on bringing over to the west. I mean, generally Visual Novel Games are extremely niche, but it helps to have a more varied library of genres for 1st & 3rd party exclusives...

When he said "a deep cut from Nintendo's history" he ain't kidding. My first time learning of these games was when I was 11 playing Melee and one of the trophies was of a character from this series and it said the games were "JAPAN ONLY." Ever since then I've been interested in checking this out, and now I've got remakes I can dive into.

I really hope this sells well, not only because Famicom Detective is a really good game, but because Nintendo have many other VNs that they made in the 80's and this could be a start for more remakes and more entries.
I remember playing the translation created by team Tomato. So far no one has been able to play the first game which is actually the sequel. Also I have never seen the full love ending. Plus this is where Ayumi Tachibana comes from the canned fighter from melee

Finally this moment has arrived, one of the best NES and SNES games returns with a spectacular remake! Hopefully they are encouraged to locate other franchises such as Shin Onigashima, Famicom Wars or The Mysterious Murasame Castle! I can't explain how happy I am right now, thank you Nintendo for thinking of the rest of the world!

played The Girl Who Stands Behind ages ago, seriously I can't recommend this enough, especially to Ace Attorney or DanganRonpa fans. It's a more classic approach compared to modern visual novels, but the story is amazing. Also holy smokes we'll get to play The Missing Heir!!!!

They already stated they won't cuz any translation they do won't be as good as Tomato's, so I don't think it'll happen. And...they're probably right. Tomato is a profession, and even made sure it stuck to NoA's translation guidelines, and he knows the games that came before it so he knew all the references, and fans helped with all the tough translations/name-puns. So the fan translation is just perfection.
@@Schwarzorn Tomato and his team offered up the translation and the toolset he used to create it up to Nintendo tho. So what's the point in them doing better than him? They could just put his version up in an emulator as an official re-release and it'd be good.
Confusername Nintendo would NEVER allow that. NoA might be willing (they all played it), but not Nintendo. It’s not about the money as much as their pride. Using it would be like saying they condone fan translations. They do not. They don’t condone a lot of things. Fan games, letsplays, etc. Even rental places renting their games out was out of line to them. They got it made illegal in Japan. And tried to in America. They’re very controlling. They eventually got sued for poor business practices when they were twisting the arms of all the game publishers and stores.
@Notorius LHE I think DGS is far superior to modern AA personally (DD and SoJ are weak imo) and there is no complete translation of DGS2 yet. DGS localisations on switch are confirmed already

It's a very weird game to localize into English, between being based on Sherlock stories not in the public domain and a really big part of the story being its HEAVY period-accurate racism. You might be able to make an official English version, but it might not taste quite right. ...and may have some trouble getting released everywhere.

For anyone who's wondering who some of the confirmed voice actors are: Yuko Minaguchi - Voices Ayumi Megumi Ogata -Voices Taro (Known for Shinji from Eva) Do the games be played in any order or do I have to start with a specific one first for a proper experience? Unfortunately you cannot play the game with Japanese text.
She also returned for Famicom Detective Club because she voiced Ayumi in the third game in the series for the Satellaview called BS Detective Club: Lost Memories in the Snow. In that one which takes place after The Missing Heir, Ayumi is the protagonist and returns to the village where she was born to solve a mystery there. Taro isn’t with her this time. She’s a lone detective.

I played The girl who stands behind a long time ago, and now it's remastered and fully translated, it's a great horror story with suspense and everything. I'm gonna enjoy every moment of gameplay 😁
Hot damn they actually brought back Ayumi's VA from BS Tantei Club for the Satellaview. It's short and a bit hard to hear because of the announcer but it definitely sounds like her. Lol it'd be pretty neat if they added that game to this compilation. Maybe as an unlockable bonus after completing the two main games. Just glad that this series is finally being brought stateside, even if it took over 30 years.

I've been waiting years for both Famicom Detective Clubs to be Translated. One game was fan translated and didn't want to play it until the other was translated. Soon as they announced the Japanese remake of these games, I was hoping it would coming over here. A Murder Mystery Visual Novel by family friendly Nintendo always had me intrigued. Soon as I get the funds I'm pre-ordering them.

You never saw the full love ending because you technically can't. It's impossible to view without cheats. I made a video on it a while back

A Murder Mystery Visual Novel by family friendly Nintendo always had me intrigued. Soon as I get the funds I'm pre-ordering them.

She originally voiced her in the 1997 SNES Satellaview Exclusive Sequel, BS Detective Club: Lost Memories in the Snow!!!

@@Schwarzorn Pretty much my view on it. It's the only game in the series that's never been rereleased, even in Japan! So it'd be a fantastic thing to follow-up with. Maybe if these sell well...
NMH3 and Miitopia and of course Skyward Sword HD are exciting, but this was a cool announcement, too. Always been interested in these games and now I can play them. They look beautiful, too
These both come out on my birthday, and I gotta say, this definitely will make a great birthday gift for myself.
Played them both fully on my FDS years ago and then the fan translated SNES version... God this looks amazingly good!!
