Here after the 3rd game reveal with Emio. As a huge ace attorney fan the FCD games have caught my interest between being a Nintendo genre they dont often go into, as well as being a legacy franchise starting on the Famciom in Japan and seeing new life worldwide on Switch. With this new game I think this could motivate me to buy the first two.
I've always wanted a detective game by NIntendo. Also very nice they're bringing back 30 something year old franchises and modernizing them for the Switch.
@@jinmiguel6884 Ace Attorney is very much a detective game, but you play as an Attorney. I highly recommend the Ace Attorney Trilogy for $30 but you can find on sale for $15 pretty often. All 3 are amazing games with amazing stories with so many twists and turns, it's hard to see where the story will go.
How great that Nintendo is interested in reviving this IP, hopefully it does well in sales so they get excited to bring more exclusive IPs from Japan or dead IPs
I hope they remake "Marvelous: Another Treasure Island" (Eiji Aonuma's first game as a director) and "For Frog the Bell Tolls" for Switch and localize them. They released "Mysterious Murasame Castle" on the 3DS virtual console. It would be cool to see a remake on Switch to.
Biggest problem is how this release is handled. Digital only at least in the West and even a worse situation here in Europe. You cannot buy the games separately, you have to buy the full package digital for 60 Euros (also, no discount like in the US). Also, it‘s in English only and barely promoted. The complete release is botched because at first there was, at least here, a version for the retail stores announced. That‘s not how you bring back an old IP.

Can’t forget how horrible they handled Fatal Frame 2 Wii edition, Fatal frame 4 & Fatal frame maiden of black water. FF2 only being released in the UK & Japan, FF4 never got released outside of japan, and FF Maiden of black water for WiiU was digital only in the U.S while the UK & japan was given a physical release. Such a pain that both Wii & WiiU were region locked. Wish Nintendo of America & Europe would take these niche games more seriously, put in some effort man...lol.
So many visual novels to play on switch! From Raging loop, steins gate, AI the somnium files, ace attorney, death mark etc to now 2 more new ones this May. The switch is home to some of the best visual novels and thanks to its portable nature makes the experience even greater. Can't wait to add those 2 games to my collection.
Steins;gate elite felt eh...I didn’t like the change from the original character designs (which granted they did port over zero & the dating sim spin off that kept the original designs..) but elite’s cheap usage of essentially animated Gif’s with Japanese audio only...it just felt rather cheap imo... Death mark is fantastic, haven’t tried out NG, A.I somnium files, raging loop, clannad and the other clannad VN’s. Have yet to get robotics notes;dash & elite.
@@maroXUprising NG is a fantastic follow up to death mark, while it's slightly less creepy in some of the designs and fights (it just felt slightly easier overall to get the best ending) its a fantastic game with really engaging characters and a really well put together plot. AI somnium is more akin to the zero time dilemma series where different choices create different timelines and in order to get the true ending you have to complete them all. With outstanding voice acting, top notch writing and great synergy between characters (no one feels awkward on screen together) it's easily a 9/10 possibly 10/10 for total fans of the genre. While not perfect like any game it'll scratch the itch for both detective murder mystery and supernatural happenings in one title. Easy recommendation for both titles
@@justin99000 i have to pick up NG at some point. I’m kinda bummed out that as far as I know, NG never had a limited edition like with death Mark...at least easily accessible one in retail stores. (I got death Mark limited edition via one of the retail stores I frequently go to when that game launched.) I’m also waiting for the special edition of A.I somnuim files to get a good price drop...doubt that’s gonna happen, so I’ll probably get the standard copy. I’ve already been spoiled with the full game last year through a Let’s Player channel I’m subbed too. But I barely remember the key plot twist points so yee.
Nintendo deadass needs to revive dead characters like ice climbers, Mach Rider and excitebike, the only reason they’re relevant current day is mainly smash bros
I think they used tools similar to live2D, I remember watching tech demos a few ago where they had animations with a similar movement style. I might be wrong though.
I hope this open more doors for the revival of other Nintendo lesser know IP. I would love Golden Sun, Sin and Punishment, Wave Race, Custom Robo or Pilot Wings Switch please Nintendo!
What’s funny is that she has actually considered to be a fighter in melee at one point in development, but the idea was dropped because she was too obscure for western audiences and probably because a move set would be hard to come up with.

This would be his chance to fulfill that lost dream.

And his encounters with the local police usually are some members of the local police willing to share information and leads, and some members of the local police being jerks to him simply because he is a PI.

The Portopia Serial Murder case is the progenitor for this style of detective adventure. It was made by Yuji Horii, who you probably know for going on to create Dragon Quest.
It’s a darn shame it’s only a digital release, however it’s amazing that they’re getting released period. I’ve not played a massive detective based game from Nintendo ever, so to see some early games being rereleased to the masses, and even overseas, is an awesome treat.
Fun fact about the developers of these remakes, Mages, they're the same people who created Steins;Gate and the Science Adventure Series. I repeat, the Steins;Gate developers worked with Nintendo on these remakes. So you know we're in good hands here.
I have been waiting for these for soo long. These are some of the absolute BEST visual novel games. The modern glow up is amazing. Extremely excited to play these moder updates
These games are really making you feel like a detective. After game session I'm always thinking about the case and how to cracked it! Who is the murderer? What were the motives? How it's all connects? Nice stimulation of my brain, I would say. These two games are great. Very intriguing and thought-provoking.
It's kinda interesting that game's name haven't changed into 'NES Detective Club' or something for release outside Japan. (Note: Famicom is same as NES.)
There's actually a third unlocalized game called: BS Tantei Club: Yuki ni Kieta Kako (BS Detective Club: Lost Memories In The Snow) It was made for the Satellaview and split into three parts over the course of it's broadcasting. Also the person voicing Ayumi (Yūko Minaguchi) is the same person who voiced her/did narration for the game when it was broadcasted.
SO unexpected but awesome of Nintendo to not only resurrect but also LOCALIZE this lost series!! I remember being curious about these games as far back as when I read the trophies for the series in Smash Melee years ago!!
I still remember reading the description on that trophy in Melee. I was a kid at the time (mid-2000s), but I always wondered what type of games would they be. I miss 2003 sometimes.

I doubt she's very likely to be in this Fighter Pass so it'd probably be up to if there's a 3rd pass (which I personally am not banking on) or she's waiting for the next Smash for a chance, but I'd love to see her get her chance someday, especially with visual novels being an as of yet unrepresented genre in Smash!

Fun fact: Ayumi Tanhibana was considered to be a playable character in Smash Bris. Melee but was never got the green light because western players wouldn’t have known who she was. Which doesn’t really make sense because Marth was in the exact same boat as her and Roy’s game wasn’t released when Melee was.
Games like these made me remember the detective conan games pls port all detective conan games to switch just translating them would be okay. I would love to solve all the mystery in this kind of visual novels.
This'd also work super well as an anime I'm certain. Nintendo should really hop on this. I'm very excited for this, one of very few titles I'm excited for in the rest of 2021!
For people who are not aware about that (I am European, although I bought the physical Japanese version with both games in one single cartridge, because I can undertand Japanese) : Europe will be the only region where both games will be sold together in one single digital version, instead of two seperate digital versions in Japan and America (do not ask me why, I have no idea about the reason). Maybe it would have been better to give us the two digital options in all regions : two separate digital games, or a single version gathering the two games for a price that is smaller than the two seperate digital versions (and, of course, the best option would have been to give us also the possibility to buy both games in a single physical version with more languages than just Japanese or English).
PLEASE bring back StarTropics! You have brought back Punch-Out, Kid Icarus, and now Famicom Detective Club! StarTropics is now 30 years old and hasn't received a new game in nearly 3 decades (27 years)! Just give us StarTropics 3!
I already pre-ordered this and can't wait until May 14 to play them. I'll play The Girl Who Stands Behind first as it's a prequel to the first game The Missing Heir. Hopefully this sells enough to maybe get another game in the franchise.

An old Visual Novel, made by Nintendo, now co-devellop by Mages, the studio behind Steins;Gate? I'm in! After Clannad, Steins;Gate, Tomoyo After, Aokana, Nekopara 1-4 and more, I can tell the Visual Novel genre is really amazing on Switch! 👍
I guess you’ve tried out World end syndrome & our world has ended (if you’ve tried out some of those fan service based VN’s) Both are great VN’s imo...even though most will probably criticize that our world has ended has too much lewd jokes that hurt it’s mystery aspect, I enjoyed that VN, all the characters are complete losers and wouldn’t have it any other way...lol.
I'm usually more a point and click player (those similar to Broken Age or Monkey Island), but this is probably the first VN that actually grabbed my interest.
i still remember the snes translated game, i got the switch about a week ago, cannot wait to get the other game, they can make so many older nes and snes games like this which can be remaked well

The game was never localized in the West, and technically never released in the NES.
I was expecting Nintendo Detective Club, maybe. But it's kinda cool they went with the legacy title.
The Switch is truly the successor to the Vita. Even Nintendo themselves are giving in to the idea with this release.
There's actually a third unlocalized game called: BS Tantei Club: Yuki ni Kieta Kako (BS Detective Club: Lost Memories In The Snow)
It was made for the Satellaview and split into three parts over the course of it's broadcasting.
Also the person voicing Ayumi (Yūko Minaguchi) is the same person who voiced her/did narration for the game when it was broadcasted.
Hopefully, these two games will be successful enough to warrant a localization of the third game.

SO unexpected but awesome of Nintendo to not only resurrect but also LOCALIZE this lost series!! I remember being curious about these games as far back as when I read the trophies for the series in Smash Melee years ago!!

The Girl Who Stands Behind was a lot of fun when I played it a few years ago. Definitely buying them, will hope for full revival and new games.

I still remember reading the description on that trophy in Melee. I was a kid at the time (mid-2000s), but I always wondered what type of games would they be. I miss 2003 sometimes.
I love Visual Novel’s! Absolutely love them! The Switch is honestly the perfect fit for them!!!!!
After hearing that Ayumi was considered to be in Melee but was scrapped due to her game being unknown to English audiences, it makes me wonder what moveset could they give her? I'm curious on the game now! Thanks Sakurai!! ^_^

this's one area where DS/3DS excelled. Would love to see Switch finally pick up the mantle and go all out on visual novels.

If there's a time where Ayumi can get to Smash....is either now, or the next Smash if someday we get a new one.
I doubt she's very likely to be in this Fighter Pass so it'd probably be up to if there's a 3rd pass (which I personally am not banking on) or she's waiting for the next Smash for a chance, but I'd love to see her get her chance someday, especially with visual novels being an as of yet unrepresented genre in Smash!
this game is a masterpiece of nintendo history now seen it come back and getting a upgrade to the nintendo switch is amazing also i see the music will also be coming back from both part 1 and part 2 fully remastered quality anyone else think nintendo may bring back more games from there past ?

Fun fact: Ayumi Tanhibana was considered to be a playable character in Smash Bris. Melee but was never got the green light because western players wouldn’t have known who she was. Which doesn’t really make sense because Marth was in the exact same boat as her and Roy’s game wasn’t released when Melee was.
Supposedly, Marth was intended to be in 64, but was cut due to technical limitations with his moveset.
To be fair, Marth and Roy were almost cut for the western release of Melee but the play testers at NoA liked using them so they ended up staying.
And we now have 8 Fire Emblem characters. Imagine if FDC got that treatment, hehe.
Everyone stop posting this. A smash trophy doesn’t excite people for a game. A New fire emblem games for the west were in the works at the time.

Games like these made me remember the detective conan games pls port all detective conan games to switch just translating them would be okay. I would love to solve all the mystery in this kind of visual novels.

I’m not *only* buying these for her, but it’s a bonus.
For people who are not aware about that (I am European, although I bought the physical Japanese version with both games in one single cartridge, because I can undertand Japanese) : Europe will be the only region where both games will be sold together in one single digital version, instead of two seperate digital versions in Japan and America (do not ask me why, I have no idea about the reason). Maybe it would have been better to give us the two digital options in all regions : two separate digital games, or a single version gathering the two games for a price that is smaller than the two seperate digital versions (and, of course, the best option would have been to give us also the possibility to buy both games in a single physical version with more languages than just Japanese or English).

I already pre-ordered this and can't wait until May 14 to play them. I'll play The Girl Who Stands Behind first as it's a prequel to the first game The Missing Heir. Hopefully this sells enough to maybe get another game in the franchise.

@@minabotieso6944 it’s rather upsetting. But, it’s possible due to the pandemic that BBM might’ve gotten delayed. I mean, 2020’s lineup of games was rather lackluster, surely it’s possible that a lot of titles were delayed.

An old Visual Novel, made by Nintendo, now co-devellop by Mages, the studio behind Steins;Gate? I'm in! After Clannad, Steins;Gate, Tomoyo After, Aokana, Nekopara 1-4 and more, I can tell the Visual Novel genre is really amazing on Switch! 👍
I guess you’ve tried out World end syndrome & our world has ended (if you’ve tried out some of those fan service based VN’s)
Both are great VN’s imo...even though most will probably criticize that our world has ended has too much lewd jokes that hurt it’s mystery aspect, I enjoyed that VN, all the characters are complete losers and wouldn’t have it any other way...lol.

I'm usually more a point and click player (those similar to Broken Age or Monkey Island), but this is probably the first VN that actually grabbed my interest.
i still remember the snes translated game, i got the switch about a week ago, cannot wait to get the other game, they can make so many older nes and snes games like this which can be remaked well
