After I receive it, I set it up and left it outside at home for a couple of months to let it start smelling more like outside than human. So far I've been very happy with it. Very roomy - I hunt alone but could easily fit another person comfortably. Put one bolt through the shoot-through mesh, and works as advertised. I've ordered another one, so this noob is totally satisfied. One caveat - the included stakes are pretty useless; you'll want to order something more substantial. I haven't had it long enough to rate durability, but zero issues so far.
Awesome video man, a good and fast start to finish. The only thing I’d suggest is next time before you paint OSB make sure you prime it first. The wood will absorb the moisture from the paint and it could delaminate it, not to mention the wear and tear from being outdoors. I’d recommend a good alkyd primer or a house wrap to act as moisture barrier!
It's still going strong to this day, it has weathered some serious winters in northern MN and hasn't shown any signs of age or damage. The paint surprisingly still holds up to this day too. I am thinking of rebuilding it to be wider so I can have my kids up there some day but might just move it and build a new one
@@luisgovea2755 it was just cheap paint from Menards, the tin roof has a decent overhang to prevent water and snow from running down the walls. Otherwise it's just the paint and some caulk in seams/openings
I'd say it would be a bit tight. 5x6 would give you a bit more breathing room. I'm building a 5x6 in a couple weeks so my grandson can hunt with me Thanksgiving morning until he's old enough to hunt on his own.
I don't bow hunt but I imagine they'd be a bit small, if you're looking to bow hunt I would do taller windows but narrower. After sitting in this stand this winter I wish I had made the windows narrower just to limit the wind blowing in my face
You can easily fit two people in here, my wife has joined me a few times without issues. I have an old office chair up there and usually throw up a folding chair when someone joins me out in the stand
I am building one in a few weeks for next season. Is 4x6 big enough for 2 people to be in the stand with office chairs or would it be best to build it a little bigger than 4x6 to accommodate 2 people? Thanks
I'm having to rebuild my shooting houses before next season, and measured the one I sat in the last week of season. It measured 58" x 65" (4.8' x 5.4')...we have 2 chairs in it, 1 plastic lawn chair, and 1 straight back stackable chair. It's cramped but not too bad, though. I'm thinking of going to 6'x6' just for a little more room though. There are plans for a 6x6 on the same site...myoutdoorplans.com/hunting/deer-blind-plans/
Sorry just saw this, I think materials ending up costing around $250-300 to build. I built it over two weekends and then another days getting it up in the woods

Too old to use my 'climbers' anymore so, to be able to hunt again, I'm gonna try to build 2 of these. Wish this old Vet luck. If I get them built I'll send some pics. Once again, thanks.
@@DatGuy960 good luck! It's a pretty simple build, although since this video I have replaced the windows with plexiglass to help shield from some of the winter winds. Probably don't have to worry about that down in FL!
I'm sorry man, I looked and really thought I had them somewhere but I can't find it. It was just a basic 4x6 stand. I've made some modifications since, namely adding plexiglass windows to the sides so I can get some cover from the cold MN winds
4+ years into really harsh Minnesota winters and no issues at all. I will never understand why people put this much time into complaining on the internet 🙃

The length isn't really an issue, but the width is a bit narrow, if I were to rebuild it I'd do 5x6 or 5x8

How long has this held up ? I hear negative reviews that OSB will only last like 2 years

Where did you get the metal brackets for attaching the legs at the top?
Theyre called 4x4 elevator brackets, we've picked them up at fleet farm or menards, but any hardware store should be able to get them

Interior height is 8', I have it sitting on 12' 4x4s
OSB works for exterior?
I've had this sitting in the woods for two winters in harsh MN weather and haven't had any issues yet
