    DIY Deer stand to harvest DIY beef. Cooked up on a DIY outdoor kitchen and served on a beautiful DIY farmhouse table.
    Pretty amazing.

    Great video. I built one similar to this for this season but got some ideas for more stands next year. BTW, I loved seeing your kids "helping" you! It's always much more fun when the kids are involved!

    Great build! I would also slide in a removable board across the ladder opening. That would make it feel more secure when you're pivoting to shoot at deer at a weird angle.

    • @DIYTyler
      @DIYTyler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good idea Brett! Would close a visibility area for deer to spot me as well!

      Personally I would go for a soft curtain that you could have attached at the top and clip at the bottom once u are in the stand so that it doesn’t flap in the wind.

    Chain and turnbuckle or j bolts would be better than cheap strap. Plus you can easily looser. After season to allow for tree growth.

    Old carpenters trick, when pulling nails with a claw hammer have you a small block of 2x4 handy and place it between the hammer head and the material your pulling nails from. It'll give you more leverage on the nail.

    Awesome build! Since you tucked the ladder up and into the build, would the design hold a front gate on hinges so that your legs are enclosed and the front isn’t open to see leg movement?

  • @mightymouse1111

    Trying to decide what kind of wood to use. Is this just treated pine? I haven't looked at lumbar prices in a long time but I'm guessing cedar would work too but maybe unnecessarily expensive yea?

    “Ok, stand back in case I uh drop this.” You seem to be a better father than mine. If he drops a panel I need to catch it so it doesn’t break. Or atleast make sure it has something soft to land on, like my fractured skull. 😂😂

    • @DIYTyler
      @DIYTyler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Keith! It is the RIDGID stealth driver so it's way quieter and faster than a regular impact. Running strong after much use!

  • @sirwilliam7988
    @sirwilliam7988 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would get myself a chain and connect it to your eye bolts. Wrap it around the back of the tree and get a ratcheting boomer and winch it down tight. That’s a lot of weight up there with you, a gun or bow and one tiny ratchet strap. Other than that it looks cool. Should serve it’s purpose.

  • @thomasleahy3767
    @thomasleahy3767 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome build!! How about a deer cam set up to see the view? I am sure TH-cam wouldn’t be happy with showing the intended purpose of the stand. Love the channel

    • @DIYTyler

    Others have mentioned not liking the tree to stand interface. There’s been a lot of better recommendations of how to cinch the stand to the tree. I would say think of putting a couple of those 2’x2’ square paver stones from Lowe’s under the ladder’s feet so it doesn’t sink into the Earth.

  • @campbellmarty36
    @campbellmarty36 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome job!!! Just sad now that lumber prices are yet AGAIN through the roof!!!!!🤬! One 8 foot 2x4 is $8.00!!!!!! Absolutely absurd with this prices!!!!. I’m SO DONE with any projects! Maybe some we’ll be able to afford some DIY projects again!!!
