- Today I am following a suggestion as to where I do find the best Kathi Rolls in all of Kolkata. It is quite centerally located and the places is called Kussum Rolls and is widely known in Kolkata and even further than that. I have heard the name actually several times, so today is the day I find out if the chicken rolls there actually are as awesome as my friend Ben from Bittermansguide (link see below) stated. Let's check it out.

Kolkata is the food capital of India...you get the best of best....Kusum Rolls is really good...Nizam s near New Market started kathi roll concept...you can find different types of tasty rolls in kolkata like 26 inch roll..best biriyani at Dada Bowdie in Barrackpore..do not miss it

Calcutta is a mixture of old and new. It's one of the few Indian cities with a soul. And it has a culture and ethos, which is appreciably different from most other places. It's also one of the few metropolitan cities in India which provides affordable food to all denominations. You can have a good filling meal for as little as ten rupees, or a meal which can cost a month's salary.
Kusum Rolls in Park Street is definitely very good, but the Original is at Nizam's in the New Market Area.

You should also try Kolkata biriyani. It's unique because it has potato in it.
The British had confiscated the properties of the Nawab of Oudh and exiled him the then capital of India Calcutta which left him rather poor so much that he can't afford chickens anymore. But he was Nawab so he couldn't eat like a common man so he introduced potato inside biriyani, for which it still tastes somewhat like chicken.
(Chicken or mutton will be there along with potato)best biriyani in Kolkata is of Arsenal at Park Street, but I would suggest you having biriyani from Dada Boudi or The Bappi of Barrackpore (little north of Kolkata)

I think you are quite into food so I'll advice you to visit the coffee house in College Street. It's century old and many revolutions started there before independence. It was the place where most prominent freedom fighters, intellectuals and poets met to discuss politics and next move against the British. If the walls could speak. If you visit there you are definitely gonna see some young politicians who will be famous in the future.
You can order coffee once and seat there for the rest of the day.
Also in college street you can find almost any book you want.

The chicken roll looks yummy, not sure whether the filling is similar to the chicken roll thst you reviewed a few weeks ago. Good to hear that you, your wife and kids never have any issue or become sick as a result of eating street food for the past 3 months in India.

really you didnt get sick for 3 months in India...and you had street food.

the wraps being made up of wheat flour should be thin . but in all other regions of india except south india... wraps are looks like thick pillows. as those should be called as roti rolls instead of common rolls. in my city vizag .. on of vendor gave you same thing, who settled in vizag from north india for his survival.
