Thank you Migurdia VR. It's one step at a time. When Laura started her course, she didn't know how to work with Blender at all and within a few months she got really good at it. After this project she continued to take an additional 3D course to improve her skills even further. As for me, I've been doing this for a while... but it did also take me some time to get used to all this stuff. One step at a time and persistent practice should normally help you get better everyday. Wishing you all the best on your creative journey. :)
Hi pingpongball969, I think blender would be a great fit for that as it also has the grease pencil features to do the traditional 2D animations that you can combine with the 3D environments if needed. You can modify the art style to mimic that of you desired anime trough different type of shading techniques and modifiers. Wishing you all the best on your creative journey. 😉👍🏻

Hi McCloud23892, I’d said that all programs are fine for this. It all depends on your preferences and needs. If you need backgrounds that are often repeated and have lots of perspective, you might want to use a 3D software package like blender. You can combine this then with something like Procreate, Clip Studio Paint or Photoshop for adding finishing touches or additional details like I did here. In terms of features for making comics, Clip Studio Paint definitely has the edge on the rest of the software solutions. Hope this helps. 🙂

Hi Bruce, that line art was drawn by the talented hands of Laura Casier, however Blender is most definitely capable of creating very similar effects through its freestyle line renders if you setup the right modifiers. Laura added additional details that weren’t there in 3D, but if the 3D geometry would have been there, it would have been able to render out the lines just the same way. Hey David, I want to create my own manga but I have no drawing experience. I got myself the wacom intuos small drawing tablet and I have a pc that can use blender. What would you recommend would be the best place for me to start so that I can create a manga, comic or graphic novel and learn to draw and model things
Hi Dylan, that's a great question. Learning how to draw takes a lot more time than learning to use a 3D software package or something like Photoshop. That's because when you learn to draw, you're literally training your brain to remember the brush strokes which worked for you when drawing specific items, environments, etc. This take lots and lots of time (I'm talking years). Now... don't get discouraged just yet because there definitely is a solution for people that want to get some results rather sooner, than say many years down the line. One of these solutions is to learn how to use 3D software packages like Blender. Learn how to model 3D stuff, sculpt cool looking characters, faces, etc and then get some knowledge in how to create good UV maps for texturing your models and so forth. It's just like photobashing which is easier and faster than drawing the whole canvas from scratch. I have been hoping to upload a video soon about using Blender for comics where I discuss the benefits of creating a 3D asset library that you can reuse over and over again for comic production. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make the video yet as I have been crazy busy lately, but I'm hoping to drop it somewhere in the next weeks. Hopefully that video might inspire you to give this whole 3D stuff a try. Blender has tons of free online tutorials on TH-cam and they're really good too. I wish you the best of luck Dylan!
