With no sightings of the Formosan clouded leopard since 1983, it was declared extinct 2013. Until it was rediscovered February of 2019, when it was spotted for the first time in 40 years
This video is a perfect example of something I could listen to while working on a big project. His voice is so calm, and the video is very educating. The video is also 45 minutes long and is something I can watch without looking at the screen which is a very important factor.

I still think he's cool and I think a lot of the scientific community that don't like him are just jealous and will do and say anything to tear someone down that brings a different way of getting the public interested in helping endangered animals.

From what i know, hes deeply passionate about this stuff and does legitimately try to help, but has to do certain things for the sake of the show. Its a double edged sword. He gets to bring awareness to the public, but be alienated by the minority who know

I didn't realize that he was a fraud until watching this video. He seems to have quite a following online. I'm very sorry to hear that. He would fake something like that, It's a shame the scientific community hasn't been more vocal about exposing his exploits

Really disappointed in the behavior of Forrest, tbh. I used to watch Extinct or Alive a lot and it’s part of what got me interested in the show in the first place. I always felt iffy about how he handled his episode on the Zanzibar leopard. His portrayal of the natives is really judgmental and while what they historically did to the species is wrong they are entitled to their beliefs. If he’s so confident that he may have found a Zanzibar leopard then why tell people about it? If the natives are as superstitious as he portrays them then wouldn’t it just put the leopards in more danger? And to take credit for someone else’s discovery is just plain wrong and super entitled. Smh.

He also tried to steal credit for "rediscovering" the Rio Apaporis caiman despite the fact that it was already known not to be extinct and Sergio Balaguera-Reina had published a population survey on living Rio Apaporis caimans in 2019, before Galante even began filming in Colombia. This is a systematic thing for Galante and he deserves to be shat on for it

I have something to say about the 25 most wanted specs list and it that recently it has been announced that the omiltemi cottontail has been rediscovered and new photos of the omitemi cottontail has been taken for the first time!
It’s pretty hard to ID them from pictures to be fair, since there’s so many similar looking black tipped sharks haha, but you never know, hopefully one will be caught and analyzed soon
I saw a heartbreaking picture this week of 3 dead pink river dolphins on a mudflat formerly Amazon river branch. Worst draught in 120 years and degraded forest after the fires, i fear the next list of presumed extinct may rapidly expand as we speak 😢

Forrest Gallante apparently retracted taking credit for the tortoise discovery and credited to the proper party, though he evidently was part of the expedition that rediscovered it

I grew up watching Forrest Galante and looking up to him when the show came out. Just started rewatching the series and there are several times where he does or finds questionable things. He found claw marks, which were very linear and deep as if done with a pocket knife, in Madagascar and suggested a leopard could be on the island. He also filmed a group of deer in the Everglades and said they were possibly being stalked by a wolf, which was a most likely a coyote. Forrest could have found evidence of the Zanzibar leopard, but a person like this probably shouldn't be trusted.
i'm from the Philippines and i remember reading about the cloudrunner on one of our quizzes on reading comprehension. it was the first time that i heard of such an animal, and the way it was named and described made me think of it as looking and living like a pokémon 😂. it was said to be elusive. i only thought it was because it was so fast that people couldn't spot it. never thought of it to be a lost species
Greetings You missed mentioning the Rancho Grande harlequin toad (Atelopus cruciger), located in Henry Pittier Nat Park and declared extinct in 1986 and rediscovered in 2008, which is still in critical danger of extinction due to the restricted distribution of the few remaining populations.

Honestly, screw "Extinct or Alive", sure they did some minor good on educating the public on endanged species but the host is a menace to science and other cultures.

How fo they know they have an adult specimen if they only have a one or 2 specimens?
Maybe another category inconclusive would be ok

I truly think Forest Galante isn’t that bad of a guy in general. He has brought a lot of eyes to endangered species and has gotten me back into this niche subject I loved as a kid. He can be controversial but I do think he adds scientific value to the community
