      it is not tubeless will it be dangerous if it run over a nail. I fell before because of this.

      No idea, they're tubed. I don't know enough about bikes because I havent been riding long but I guess getting a nail in your tyre is never good!

    I absolutely love my vanvan 200. Went out for a ride a couple of weeks ago and ended up doing 182 miles!!!
    My other bikes don’t get out much unless I feel the need for speed or a long tour around Europe. Having said that a few of us older bikers have purchased small cc bikes and plans are being made to buy a couple of vans to throw them in and drive them to the Alps for a tiddler tour. Can’t wait. Great review

      I even found my KLR 650 underpowered for highway riding so really the van van is perfect for city, small town not for shooting on the highway....I ride a bmw with a 1200 cc engine 110hp that feels perfect for highway. You feel safer when you have extra power for passing nothing scarier than being in a situation and you don't have the power to get out of on the highway (just my opinion).

    I have the VanVan 200. I have terrible coccyx tailbone pain. I thought I’d never be able to ride again. The seat of the Vanvan is so comfortable, I’m back to riding! 🙂

    I have a 125 one of these. Drop the front sprocket one tooth and buy a screen and mine does 60mph two up. Beautifully made in Japan. Lube it all up the day you buy it, make ACF50 your best friend and keep it maintained and it will never ceased to put that smile on your face.
    Nice review and a good balanced opinion on what it does best. I enjoyed it, thanks

    I've just clocked up my first 200 miles on one of these. green lanes and B roads are great fun, even A roads are manageable. had the 125 before, just didn't have the power it needed to get it up hills. this is perfect for what it is. top end is 75ish, but 60 is possible all day long . you have to remember it's a sand cross bike so suspension etc is going to be soft.brakes are ideal for the loose stuff, no issues with locking up etc. power delivery is smooth too. its great over mud etc. really is a fun little bike.

    I don't know what I is about the van van but I have always liked the look of them. When you read through the comments you love it or just don't get it. That has always been the thing with these bikes and they have a massive following. I like it but not at four grand.

    This is a very accurate review. I recently rode the hell out of this bike on the twisty roads of Santorni, Greece. It is perfect for low speed riding bc it gives you impression that you are going very fast. My wife said it was the most comfortable bike she has ever been on as a passenger. It handles pretty well and is very fun. At 40 mph you feel like you're doing 70, which is a good thing on an island like Santorini where it would be impossible to safely travel at 70 mph. First gear is totally useless beyond 5 mph, that kind of sucks. But really the perfect bike for the country side, not a great city bike bc of the way it's geared.

    • @dieselgeezer18
      @dieselgeezer18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      simply start in second gear. For city its perfect

    Well done for pointing out that power is not everything. If some bikers could get their hands on a 300 hp bike they would, because their ONLY thinking is power, power and more power. Once you've accelerated 0-120 (illegally) all you can do is seek more thrills and go to 150, then 170. It doesn't stop, because of the fixed mindset. As you point out, a ride at sensible speeds is just as much fun. But I fear most bikers can't work that out, because power is all that matters to them, sadly.

    • @casey360360
      @casey360360 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer going fast in corners than going full out on a straight. You can go fast in corners on a moped if you please, after that it's all just personal preference.

    I absolutely love my van van 125, the power is a a bit of a bummer and I sit on the red line A LOT but the looks and the fact that the tyres will go over pretty much anything is amazing. Off roading on it is great, and being a short arse I can flat foot it which I can't with quite a lot of bikes. If Suzuki make a 400 version I will be a happy panda :D

    I had one of these as a rental bike when i went to the Greek Islands in July. I'd never heard of them before, so i figured i'd give it a go. Fantastic little bike for running around! We filled the tank (5 litres) and it lasted us the entire ride we did! Even with the mrs on the back the entire time, it was never short of power. Even took it on the beach for a bit :)
    Sadly, we don't get these in Australia. Would be great over here though, i think it'd handle being out bush pretty well (Basically a mini scrambler)

    Im pretty sure air cooled and oil cooled are the same thing. Some air/oil cooled engines have external coolers but even ones that dont rely quite a bit on the oil to pull heat away from the hottest parts.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Do R/C! Oil cooled as in it has a oil cooler, this means it has a oil filled radiator. Air cooled is 100% air.

  • @Smaug1

    My question is: "Why not a TU250X instead?" Unless you have trails to ride on, which very few of us do, the TU250X would be better in every way, and would probably retain all of that charm. Tires are less squishy, seat too maybe. But it will go 70 mph (US) and cruise at 60. More handsome to my eye.
    Do you think the fat tires and seat make it more comfy on a bumpy road than a TU?

    I really like it. It's certainly a niche market, but it'll fill it well I reckon. The other day I rode my friend's old Honda CM200 around his farm and I expect something similar from that bike. Being good for someone who wants a '125+', bridging the gap between basic, cheap fun and bigger bikes. That said, I'd want to change that exhaust for something a bit nicer on the eye more than nicer on the ear, and the external toolkit is daft, the second you park up all your tools will disappear

    looks very simular to the X5 I had about 20year's ago. it was so reliable and easy to fix. I dont ride at mo due to issue's rather not get into. but by next year with a job a want a honda grom. I had a wiz on my mates and there great little bikes. cool vlog as it was for ne a blast from the past. I still have the HAYNES owners workshop manual I got with the bike. think it was made 1978.

  • @KazeshimaD
    @KazeshimaD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love the simplicity of the instrument panel, but not sure about the dial being off centre. Overall it looks pretty cool in a retro kinda way though and like you said Spicy, looks like it could handle greenlaning!
    Shame it can't hit motorway speeds for someone who might occasionally need to travel on them though - I had been looking at this bike along with some 250/300s but given the not-quite-so-great top end I'll probably have to scratch this one off the list.
    Fingers crossed for a 250cc Adrenaline appearing sometime soon!

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KD197 remeber this bike had done about 100miles. A customer who has put over 900miles on his reports it will do 70. But I don't think it will ever be really happy about it. I'm sure the oversized rubber isn't helping it in that regard

    • @KazeshimaD
      @KazeshimaD 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +spicy110 Oh that's good to know, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to engines but gaining that much top end is interesting and slightly unexpected to the layman that I am.
      I'm looking more for something that can do 70 without screaming it's nuts off and push 85-90 to get out of trouble if need be so sadly I don't think this is the one.
      Nice to see you reviewing some of the quirkier and smaller capacity bikes though (mainly because that's what I'm interested in haha!).
      300 seems to be an up-and-coming class, any chance of seeing reviews on those in the future?

    Hiya pal iv been a sub since early days and properly watched almost every vid which I always give a thumps up. I give a thumps up cos your a descent lad and iv followed your biking journey and enjoyed it so thank you. However (sorry here comes the bad bit) when reviewing a bike i would love to see some nice pictures/video off the bike not an upside down view from your helmet cam , would love to have a good look at the bike at the start of the video not just a 5 second clip from your helmet cam. Really think you should think out off the box on videos, mix up camera Views maybe a clip of you riding the bike. You have a few American subs so try and show them more off the uk do a tour or a camping video.

    I like the tyres, that's it. And 16bhp out of a 200cc, what's the point in this thing when a lot of 125s put out that.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +6Twisted well no most most 125cc bikes are 12-14 bhp. The 125 VanVan has 11. As i have said I think if you buy a Vanvan is because you want a Vanvan. no doubt there are faster more powerful bikes out there but I don't think with bike was made to compeat with the market just be what it is.

    • @6Twisted
      @6Twisted 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      spicy110 It just seems to be in a weird class in between a 125 and 250 that I don't think there's a big market for.

    I had the 125 version. Very good as a scrambler for a bit of fun off road, but really struggles with hills... I miss the comfort and brilliant steering angle. I moved on to a Ducati Multistrada 620. The bike is better in almost every way except the steering and the handlebars that wreck your wrists after only 30 minutes of riding . :/

    Its actually a cute little bike. I think its fine also as a bike that if you do have even a full A Cat but don't want too much power then its fine. I do think 4k is a bit much given the size, I know its a Jap but still its 4k can buy another decent bike of the 1000cc range but like ya said someone who wants a vanvan will buy a vanvan.
    Also the dealer called, he noticed what looks like beak marks on the seat from where someone was "poking it" ..... me thinks the crow has been at it to test its seat quality. xD Crow's official seal of approval by beak marks.

    @MrSlowestD16 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh I love the styling of it!
    Somebody help me out here, tho.
    Here in the States the Yamaha SR400 is very similar style wise and even though it's a bit down on power it's going to feel a bit more torquey than this guy b/c of the displacement alone, so what am I missing about this price?
    The SR400 costs 6k here, but for some odd reason many dealerships sell them for 5k regularly (not on clearance) - i'm guessing the dealership prices for them must be stupid low - and in the US Suzuki website this costs 4.6!?!? How can you not cough up an extra 400 bux for the SR400?
    I'm not one of those idiots who says displacement is everything, but I just don't see why I'd go for it. The SR400 weighs 60lbs more than the vanvan (SR400 still weighs less than 600 sport bikes with special space metal frames, haha) but it's not a heavy bike by ANY stretch of the imagination and incredibly nimble. This thing is awesome but I think if I wanted it I'd go buy the SR400.
    Anyway, VERY cool bike, very awesome indeed, but I think I'd buy the SR400.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrSlowestD16 well I can give a couple of reasons as to why that might not work out here in the uk. The SR400 seemes to have been sold here is 2014 but I can no longer see it listed on yamaha's site. Also in the uk back then it cost $1800 more than a Vanvan now. Also note yamaha are charging £4500 yes $5800!! for a couple of their 125cc bikes. I think most that buy a Vanvan 200 will do so because they want a Vanvan. Maybe it's the nostalgia of owning one in their early days, maybe it's something else.

    • @MrSlowestD16
      @MrSlowestD16 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the pricing for the SR400 is odd. Here the MSRP is 6000 but you see them all the time (very frequently) at dealerships for 5000 new. Unsure why.
      Yeah, the Vanvan is new to us, (2017 confirmed), but I guess other places might have a nostalgia, agreed.

    • @michaelevans1658
      @michaelevans1658 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the yamaha sr 400 is to be put out to grass because it does not meet new A4 emissions come January 2017. Most of Suzuki's cruiser line also plus the Inazuma 250. However no news on the van van being discontinued as of yet. Will have to see if it turns up at motorcycle live sprouting A.B.S.

    • @MrSlowestD16
      @MrSlowestD16 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's really difficult for bikes to pass EU emissions - that's why the fueling on all new bikes is utter garbage. This is especially true with air-cooled motors. Triumph just this year re-did their entire classics line-up to have liquid cooling and pass emissions.

  • @bobbyb7127

    what year is it?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2017 however, dose it matter? The reason I ask is I am sure these were only sold in 2017-2018 and we're not changed in design between that year.

    • @bobbyb7127
      @bobbyb7127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ask because I am looking at a used 2017 van an 200 this weekend. Of course when you did your video it was new, so the one I'm looking at is 5 years old but from their photos it looks new. So im wondering what I should offer for it. There are no garranties with used.
