I recommend the tamarind sauce. Especially if you don't have time to fry the tentacles. If you're in a REAL hurry, just sever them and jar and pickle them later, to cut down on the rubbery chewiness.

Heh. I wrote a short story about them back before D&D existed, in which the lord of a city-state wanted to hire them to crush a rival city lord (with city, of course), and the head of the Fist snorted, "You can't afford us."

Dream Knife : a Knife build from energy of plane of dreams. The Knife changes element or dmg type to weakness of the target. If the target has no weakness then it does normal slashing dmg. Concentration
I have other fun spells too.. Most of them are draws power from plane of dreams

oh, that's an easy, mighty fortress, there's also Galder's tower, basically a 3rd level spell that lat's you summon a 2 story tower. I did some math and by the time you reach 13th level, when you can cast mighty fortress you would be able to cast Galder's tower 9 times using all your spells slots, so in about a day a wizard could make a full village with a castle. and then it becomes permanent in a year.
one goal I have is to play a wizard who is an architect who spends their days basically making affordable housing fro the homeless.

I always have at least one spellcaster in a community that offers Gentle Repose as a paid service. For instance, in the newly re-established Phandalin, Sister Garaele of Tymora is the only priest and gives reasonable prices for putting miners to rest or prepping their bodies for a trip to Neverwinter's Kelemvorites (or so I detailed at the table)

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 are my all time favorite videos games. They introduced me to the Forgotten Realms over 20 years ago and I am fascinated by this world ever since.
I've played the early access of BG3 a few times and can't wait for it's full release. I'm so hyped to walk through Baldur's Gate presented in modern graphics, soon. 😍

I’m not sure what the threat Ed is going to talk about is, but my campaign just went there, and I expanded on the plot hook in Descent Into Avernus of a council member being affected by a Mind Flayer into a whole Illithid hive under the sewers. "The true fortune to make in The Gate is made by those who service those cut throat merchants. The wagonmasters and warehousers can demand a premium from the hustlers in a hurry to get a deal done. My pa runs a crew of long shoremen that makes a mint unloading the unexpected ships that have to rent a pier. My aunt owns a laundry, washing the travel clothes of caravaners for the most leisurely living a laborer could hope for. Meself, I'm a marine pilot paid a small fortune to row out to the incoming ships and guide them to port. What I make on the side with aiding the smugglers is nice too."

I fell in love with the characters, the language, the writing style... even the way it, and many of your books, jump around in a bunch of short stories with framing references that make the whole story seemed to speak to my ADHD way of thinking. I've always wanted to meet Elminster, and shake his hand. I know there is no such thing as Ed Greenwood, but I'll keep that little secret to myself. @edgreenwoodofficial again, I really wasn't expecting a response. I'm happy to get one, though!
It'd be really great to hear some more details of Baldur's Gate. N of course the other cities and just places in general of faerun. I can only hope BG3 inspires others to create things set in this world. Hopefully, it will be with the same appearent love and care that Larian is giving to the world too. It's definitely something to be looking forward to for a change, which is a shame to say but all to real.

Yeah, he said the city is hard to conquer on foot... But, there is a lot of powerful wizard in the realm, why they don't create portal gate to traverse difficult terrain ? Or create a way to fly wherever they need to facilitate an invasion ?
Also, why a port city become important if you can just create a network of portal gate to go anywhere ?

@@gabrielforget6595 The Netherese were the most magically powerful civilization on Faerun, dwarfing anything before and since. So powerful in fact that they caused a worldwide cataclysm and caused Mystra to issue edicts on just how powerful magic could be across the realm. Except she didnt ban the elves from high magic. Hence, you got Myth Drannor...which also fell to cataclysm via use of mythallar and portals. The ruins of myth drannor are still said to be among the most deadly places in Faerun because of the remnant wild magic surges, unique artifacts and unsecured portals.
