Oh man, it's like everyone forgets about the zombie map in bo2 "mob of the dead".
It was extremely similar to real life, which was back in 2013.
When I first played rebirth, and I didnt know it's location, I instantly figured it out because it is very similar to mob of the dead.
I will never refer to Alcatraz as rebirth, it’s Mob

Not to discredit the work on Rebirth and Warzone but Blackout and Treyarch are the ones who mainly did the map back in bo4 known as Alcatraz portals based off the zombies maps and had it released as it's second map in br. Then they just decided to port the map and re-texture everything for Warzone to make it look like a soviet island. Because in Bo1 Rebirth had no similarities to Alcatraz.

I know that but in bo4 Zombies they brought it back in blood of the dead which expanded the map and had new story relevance. Then later on in bo4's life cycle they made a new map for Blackout which was Alcatraz portals and was based off the 2 prior zombies maps. The respawn had you coming out of a hellish portal kinda like the Purgatory that the mobsters were in on the original map. That's why respawn system is the way it is even now on Rebirth even if has little to do with Motd anymore.

Well actually it’s based after real life Alcatraz which which then was mob of the dead which then blood of the dead came out and was based of mob of the dead, and then black out Alcatraz came out which was based on blood of the dead which rebirth island was based after mostly the bo4 black out Alcatraz map.

But it was all rendered. If you noclip, every single building was there. Even the west grounds, which you would never EVER be able to see from the map

I went to Alcatraz after Mob of the Dead released and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life, they really took the time to get it exact, but also I’m sure it’s pretty much the same mapping just updated textures for warzone considering we’ve been here multiple times before
In bo4 blackout there was a map called Alcatraz and it’s the same thing and they brought it back in warzone (Rebirth) it is also the mob of the dead map if u didn’t know

Thanks for the insight on something so rare 💯 I wish they would’ve had the security area and you guys should’ve shown the tunnel below prison and the inside of the headwaters structure. It has appeared in COD 5 times now since 2013. It's literally just a reskined port of the Alcatraz battle royale map from black ops 4 that also got ported to COD mobile, which was a repurposing of Blood of the Dead's assets and layout from zombies, which was a remake of Mob of the Dead from Black Ops 2, which was set at Alcatraz.

Also, I started playing Warzone In 2018 unlike the people who are claiming it’s been there since 2013 or whatever. I didn’t study the game logistics and the storyline or origin of where it came from I just enjoy the game and was genuinely excited about the information I learned. Appreciate y’all educating me though, that’s more information I can utilize in the future. Blessings to you all. 💯
Had a similar experience playing Tony Hawk Proskater 4 and then going to Alcatraz as a kid. That game also seemed like a 1:1 model of the real thing.

COD had to make that building where those bathrooms where because before those bathrooms there was that building but it doesnt look exactly like the building on Rebirth
It's so weird when you don't know places in games where replicas/ based on places in real life. When you find out, even though you realize the place is real and the game is the copy, it still feels like someone really made a real version of the place from that game. Visiting the place wouldn't feel like you're just seeing a real place made into a game. It would feel like you're in the game.

People don't even realize that bo4 had a exact map called alkatraz in blackout. It's even more accurate than rebirth. You can even see the bridge in the far background. Too bad people only give credit to the game that pretty much revived CoD but alkatraz on Bo4 was better.

In bo2 if you used the tac insertion it would show you coordinates of where the map was based off in real life. Cargo was the coolest. It looked just like it.

CoD Warzone changed the Alcatraz name to Rebirth Island but in CoDMobile they just used the original name of the island. still chills tho

Since you were in California you should have visited the Santa Monica pier in Los angeles. COD ghost had a lot of scenes in san Diego and Los Angeles.
