Cyndi Lauper is so underrated, amazing vocalist
I was just thinking how much I love her cover of At Last
no she isn't underrated, she is from another time.
You should try to catch a video of her on the Patti Labelle special . I remember when it first came out . If you know Patti she is known for blowing singers out of the water. I saw it expecting her to blow Cyndi out . I love Patti but let me tell you this, that special is legendary cause Cyndi held with Patti note for note. They sang Time after Time. It was amazing .
I read she has a four-octave range.
She's so unusual.
The woman is her real life mom and the guy playing her dad is Captan Lou Albano, a wrestler. In the 80's, Cyndi was manager of a female wrestler called Wendy Richter. Cyndi started the "rock and wrestling connection". It is because of Cyndi that I started watching wrestling in the 80's.
She was married to Captain Lou for a while.
Now that you mention the mom was her actual mom I can now see the similarities between the two.

They were never married. They just worked together and developed a real strong friendship but nothing more. Besides he was old enough to be her dad!! RIP Capt Lou!!
The Conehead actually came from a skit on SNL back in the 70's/80's. It was a family of extraterrestrial Coneheads(at least I think they were aliens) Lol. Parents were Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtain. It was funny.
the girls in the video (the part glass marble sounding part & when they are on the phone) are all Cyndi's real life friends

Cyndi did " I drove all night " beautifully way before Celine. Love Celine the legend, just credit where due. The original Saturday Night live show (1977) had a running skit call the Coneheads. They were an extraterrestrial family that tried to blend in on Earth as suburbanites. With Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtain as the parents and Laraine Newman was their teenage daughter. That's where the Conehead guy came from.
