    Hi, friend.
With that book, you have a piece of history in your hands.
But the sad thing is that in a very short time, nothing exists anymore.
They call it progress, but I question some things.
It's nice that you went back and showed what has disappeared.
    Thank you, Keith.
    Antoine.

I live right across the Ohio river in Ohio from south Wheeling / Benwood. Some times on a sunny winter day I just go drive around and look at the old buildings. It is a sight to see and very historic. The old musicians union hall is down there. Several other serious manufacturing buildings. Some are still in use and some not.
When I was kid in the 60'ws we always went to Cooey Bentz. they had the only real Santa Claus in the valley so we thought. Out parents took us there. They had train display in the front of that building from Christmas thru new years eve and it fantastic. Memories I will take to to the grave.

Proud to own a copy of your book. It's beautifully done. I really hope to get back to Wheeling area some day. FYI, I think you forgot to update the video description after pasting in the info to that area. Again, thanks for the history lesson and the tour. Have a great weekend!

Thank you for photographing and documenting this fascinating part of American history.
It is so sad to see the past being erased, by a generation that cannot understand the need to build beautifuly.
All the very best to you and yours from the UK, where the wrecking ball never sleeps.

Santa used to be at Cooey Bentz Furniture in the 1950’s.

Wow, I have heard of Wheeling many times and thought it was a large city. Not much left now though. I hate to see old building demolished. I suppose some are dangerous now but it would be nice to see them preserved somehow.

Yes I understand the Mayor's urge to remove blight, but these should have been saved in my opinion. What's done is done. Wheeling is fairly large with so much fascinating architecture still remaining. I'll have a massive walkaround video coming in a few weeks.

The mayor should be so proud to have empty lots with so much beauty, character & promise for the future...long, long after he is gone.

The mayor is a joke. Hopefully will go 0-55 in his attempt at senate. Paid 1.7 million for a falling apart hotel from his friend yet no help for serious projects.

Because its more interesting to look at a hole in the ground than a building older than most of the area businesses. Heres an idea, restore the buildings make them habitable rent them out and make that area thrive again. Instead that area will just degrade further. So sad
