It is better to instal piston from the top of cylender, great video
Top and bottom both will work. Top side allows piston to go in straight easier but bottom side has a nice tapered edge for the compressor.

You push circlip with socket and squeeze it with pillers?
This is one of the hardest part of top end rebuild as for myself who does it once every two years.

Thanks for reply. Installing with KTM tool looks so effortless. I was thinking about buying it but went the old, cheap but scary way. I'm right now in the process of rebuilding engine of my FC 250 for a second time. First time I was STRUGGLING with circlip installation and was really stressing about it. This time I used straight tool pick and it went really easy, I actually suprised myself. @@ssse3123

Hey, great vid. Have mine assembled minus the valve cover. Timing marks are still where they should be. When I rotate the engine by hand, the timing chain gets a loose spot. Should this go away when there’s oil pressure ? Wondering if it is normal. Oem tensioner.

I have not noticed a loose spot myself. Double check everything before you start it up. Chain will rattle first 5 seconds when oil pressure builds up.

Is it possible to have the crank 360° out, even if crank got locked while assembling and cams pointed right? I have a no start situation, have fuel/spark/compression. I wonder if it only sparks every 720° or is it wasted spark (every 360°)?

Should spark every 360 deg because ignition is controlled by crankshaft.

Hi! Just asking what your manual says? 180 or 120 degree? I have 2015 sxf 350 and my manual says 120 degree and I looking for some informations about the piston ring gap orientations on the oem pistons
If your piston has 3 rings then it's 120.
For 2 rings it's 180.

Do you have any idea as the cam degree, since mine doesn't habe the punch marks on the cam gears?
What year bike? Some older ones have markings on the cam bridge at the opposite side of chain. These match with flat parts of camshafts.

book calls for lactate 5910 between the engine case and cylinder but I have seen multiple videos of people putting on no sealant in that spot. what do you think I should do?
You can use it but don't put too much that it gets into the engine. You don't want this stuff getting in to oil passages.
@@ssse3123 do you think it would be fine without it? After seeing a few videos of just sealing the top cover I’m thinking of just sealing that but also don’t want to pull it apart again
@@damoncustodio6577 I have used gaskets only on all top end jobs. No silicone anywere. All has been OK.

Should one replace the timing chain on the first piston change?
Check if all chain links move freely and are not sticking. Hold the chain up and see if all links align straight. If not then replace chain.
