Thankfully you were there ahead of the forest fires. Jasper and the park have been evacuated. Stay safe!! I think I could see velvet on the elk's antlers; so, not at their full size yet.
Banff and Jasper are too touristy, well it was for Jasper, I guess the government will rebuild Jasper into a 15-minute Smart City after this fire, like Lahaina.

You're correct, Pyramid Lake is a hidden treasure of Jasper. Pyramid Lake Lodge (formerly called Pyramid Lake Resort) is the best hotel for the money to stay in Jasper, it is less known due to its location outside the town but it's the best place to stay in Jasper for people who like to be living in nature but don't want to camp. The Pyramid Lake is right in front of the hotel. The hotel provides rental canoes, boats and paddle boards, maybe free to hotel guests. There's nowhere else like that in Jasper. There is free ice-skating rink on the lake in the winter, bring your own skates or rent them at the hotel. I don't know if the fire got to it though.
From Saskatoon, when we visit we love the Miette mountain cabins in Jasper area and in Banff the Buffalo mountain lodge on tunnel mountain. Canmore Blackstone lodge vrbo when skiing at Lake Louise. Nice that you had time with your mother!

Very much enjoyed your video … I have gone to Jasper numerous times (starting as a youngster on family trips in the 70’s) and many times as an adult. Such a wonderful and relaxing place (less commercial than Banff, but has become more so). Tragic that about 1/3rd of the town has been ravaged by fire - but many landmarks remain (Athabaskan hotel - used to be live music there, and I think much of Connaught Drive remains (main street too). A couple things I always enjoyed was walking around Jasper Park Lodge … and I frequently went to Bearspaw bakery (white chocolate raspberry scone - I would stop in Jasper just for those while driving between AB and BC. Something else to note with the Columbia Ice fields there was a walking path that had signs for where the glacier was at a point in time - dramatic change since the 80’s (a walkable distance whereas now a serious hike).
Being from Calgary, we don’t get up to Jasper as often as we’d like but it certainly is a favourite of ours. Just curious if you’re aware of the Okotoks Erratic? It was deposited by retreating glaciers thousands of years ago. It’s originally from the Jasper area. Pretty amazing to see this huge erratic weighing over 16 thousand tons sitting there near Calgary knowing it where it came from.
Great to see you with your mom on an adventure! Jasper National Park and Athabasca Glacier is definitely on my bucket list! Hopefully they can stop the wildfires. In Canada you don't even have to be in a remote area or national park to see bears. We visited Timmins, ON and were in a park middle of the town, when we saw a mama bear with 3 cubs.

Jasper had always been a sitting duck waiting for the fire disaster due to all those tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of dry dead trees surrounding the town, the government knew the dangerous threat, but they never did anything about it, they said cutting down those dry dead trees would be "unnatural" thing to do to nature!!! They even said letting wildfire to burn down those dead trees would be a great thing!!!! Unbelievable!! You may think I am making this up, but I lived and worked in Jasper for years!! I questioned about those dead trees since many years ago, this fire hazard is nothing new to Jasper!!
My family had booked a vacation to Jaspar over Christmas (coming from NZ), but its so hard to get excited about it knowing how devastating the wildfires have been to the locals and many of their businesses. Absolutely heartbreaking 💔 Not sure whether we should rebook for another time.
Super work, Alina. Absolutely amazing how you made it to these places together with perfect company. Sure a good idea and a good advice to stay a bit away from the main to calm down cost´s. Just an idea, if there is a chance to visit the northernmost airport on this world without expedition equipment. Ice bear´s included. You fly along and along and along further than Greenland. Just one alternate point on the way if there is something turning wrong, JanMayen, a just temporary staffed Norwegian military base. Longyearbyen/Svalbard/Spitzbergen. Not easy these days, jointly managed by Russian and Norwegian authorities. Been there, more than amazing.
As I'm sure Alina knows by my bugging her to visit Jasper for years, this is my favourite park. I travel here for the three week Dark Sky's Festival every November. If you want a cool adventure make your way up to Grande Cache and visit Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreational Area. I did a 4 day motorcycle trip from Edmonton to Grande Cache then Grande Prairie the first week of July and it was amazing country. I did have a close call with a black bear which came within 5 feet of my motorcycle as I was riding by (unavoidable) so bring bear spray. Great video!
Very cool!

I went though there a couple years back. Did the tramway and was nice, been on it a few times. I stayed in Edson for 158$ and they wanted 600$ in Jasper! Not a chance for this Alberta guy!
Great choice!
A very nice one, Alina!❤
Thank you!
You’re welcome!

Hi Alina!
Hi Alina. I just found and Subbed your Channel. Maligne is pronounced Ma-lean. Love your video. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 for Jasper and the rest of B.C. and Alberta that is dealing with Forest Fires. Have you been to Elk Island National Park? Keep having Fun on all your Adventures.
Thank you! No haven’t been there yet
So sad watching this now, knowing the fallout from the devastating wild fires. About 30% of Jasper is now gone.
Amazing vlog i like it so much
