This video made me remember that my sibling and I had a Maxwell hat that I refused to wear to school for "wacky hat" day or whatever on their dare. It was too humiliating, even then.
it sadly kinda is, i always wanted it as a kid but never got it my mate got me a copy of one of them and it rocks such a shame it never gets spoke about more
Ive legit beat the Unlimited release on Switch multiple times and had to make new profiles to be able to start over xD I stillve a blast playin this game to this day
Fun fact: I'm the person who wrote the Scribblenauts Wiki pages for the two @ method items "@ropeladder" and "@rein", pictures and all. @rein in particular is interesting because due to how its texture is glitched(by virtue of it likely being leftover data from the DS entries) making it a weird abstract magenta thing that doesn't even have proper outlines, and @ropeladder is interesting because it's neither a rope nor a ladder(or even a rope-ladder), but a bicycle with one visible wheel and one invisible wheel.
I was obsessed with this game when I was a black little boy, so the racism controversy is new and took me a back seat I have never heard of that slur in my life, but I’m still kinda disappointed with Alex and the dev team
I had to look it up, and I've also never heard it in my life. As a matter of fact, I thought that was how you spelt the name of a certain rhythm based Sega game. (Turns out there's a one letter difference. I'd hate to imagine the amount of people who have spelt that game's title wrong over the years.) Honestly, I can't see how anyone could hold it against them for it making it into the finished game. You'd need to be a huge racist to even know that was a racist slur to begin with. Thankfully, considering I had no idea about the controversy until now, clearly no one cared about it at the time. :) It looks like it was just a minor oversight that almost everyone would've missed. (Which is a lot more than I can say for some other games.) Also the reasoning they gave for the cause of the debacle checks out, but I suppose I do have to question how they could be aware of something so obscure, and not have learnt about it also being a slur. Perhaps I'm also a little disappointed with them now that I think about it. Maybe it's not for me to say, but how old and unused does a slur have to be before it's no longer considered a slur? Because I'm fairly sure that one must have been close to qualifying at the time. :/
You mentioned it in the first video briefly, but if you do type in "Scribblenaut" into (at least) the first two games, you'd get a strange red-suited dude with yellow eyes and white face with an antenna on his head. I always personally believed when I was a kid that he *WAS* *A* Scribblenaut, a title one gets for being adept at using the notebook or similar objects, and that the whole games were about Maxwell's training to become one. The odd appearance even does resemble a space suit of sorts, so perhaps the original concept of flying off to different planets to help was referenced in that way when the direction shifted. Just a little nod that there are other "Scribblenauts" out there, doing good for others.
What if that's where Maxwell's notebook came from? The Scribblenauts fly around to different planets, using their notebooks to help people... Maybe one of them lost his notebook on Earth, and then Edgar and Julie found it while exploring and gave it to Maxwell as a gift.
I’ve actually never played Scribblenauts before. But I HAVE played Drawn to Life 1 and 2 (two realms isn’t speaking to me lol) and seeing the DS versions it definitely gives me Drawn to Life vibes (hence why they’re both made by 5th cell) I miss Drawn to Life and it really sucks that both Scribblenaughts and Drawn to Life’s most recent titles were bad. I really hope that MAYBE, just MAYBE, that they might get a new title that will redeem their last entries. But I doubt it. Also I have a tendency to write essays in the comments so I’ll shut up now :>
Cute iceberg. Disappointed there wasn't anything new for me, but I mean... there'sn't much to discover nowdays about it. Also, I'm not sure if it's 100% official, but it is said that Maxwell wears his iconic rooster hat to look like the Scribblenauts (the one you can actually spawn in the game and were supposed to be the actual protagonists of the franchise).
Glad to see more people remembering fondly of the game! I just finished watching your two Scribblenauts videos, and the thing that most impressed me in them is learning about the cancelled games, specially the 3D one(not so much the mobile cash grab lol). I thought that 3D could be the next step to improve the franchise way back when I last heard of it, so its good to know they had the same idea. I played 3 games of the franchise, the first 2 on the DS, and Unlimited on the 3DS. When I first just heard the idea of it from a friend when I was a kid, of a game where you could write anything and it would come real, it sounded too much fun to be true, but eventually I found the game's name. Oh, and fun fact, since I am a foreign(greetings from Brazil), I did not except the game to have Portuguese(and the Brazilian variant at that) as a playable language, considering most of the time, games only used to have 3(English, Spanish and French), and when they have Portuguese, its the Portugal variant. It left me impressed, and probably got me hooked way more into the series back then, when my grasp of English was worse. So yeah, I loved the franchise, and glad I saw your video popup on my recommendations to remember the series once again.
scribble note showdown's sandbox mode is pretty fun with a friend. Plus, you can make your own character. WHen i play in sandbox with my bro, we fight, spawn things (like walls), have fun with adjectives (like "supersonic"), and sometime try to complete the quests
You forgot to mention that the Mega Pack came with ACTUAL co-op (rather than that little brother mode it had previously), where another player can join with their own Maxwell and write things while you're also writing. Speaking of which, that co-op mode might sound like it could be fun, but it isn't. I'm still glad they introduced it though. Another thing you forgot to mention is that the Swtich version of the Mega Pack has touch screen support. Which quite easily makes it the third if not the second best version of the game to play. (Number 1 will always be the PC version thanks to the keyboard.) Lastly, in response to that comment you highlighted about how there's only so much you could feasibly do with a franchise like Scribblenauts, I would like to point a finger towards all of the successful franchises which do the exact same thing every year with no intent of innovating or improving. You honestly don't need to do more with Scribblenauts than what was already there. An occasional entry similar to Unlimited is all we'd ever want, even if it was basically just the exact same thing. As long as you don't flood the market with a new one every year, I think it could've be quite a successful franchise. (Just never make a game like Unmasked or Showdown ever again, and we'll be fine.)
I was wonderin there cuz ive got it on the Switch but nvr played it with anyone; glad to hear that its actually done properly in the Mega Pack And yeah, id put the Switch one high up there in the rankings too; its just a rly convenient way to play it, assumin ya dont use that shite letter wheel xD
“Torturing yourself” with Lock’s Quest? It’s a brilliant game. If that’s torturing oneself I must be a masochist. Play it on the DS though for maximum torture / pleasure.
Well I want MultiVersus to add Maxwell and Lily from Scribblenauts and I would also like Warner Bros. Pictures Animation to make 3D animated movie of Scribblenauts for theaters.
I remember being so hyped when the first one was announced. Super is my favorite in the franchise since I like the portability of the game and the writing mechanic with the stylus. The level/puzzle editor was fun too. I was looking forward for that feature to be improved. I was disappointed the 3DS version was so stripped down there wasn't any creative modes for an unlimited title. I did enjoy the unmasked game too. If there was a true unlimited game it would be the object editor along with the puzzle editor, all cameos, optional writing on a portable. Only a dream.
was so excited to get into the controverseies of a decades old series- this rocked! p.s. loved all the mr. shovelware cameos plus i see you've given your extra copy of mario party 7 a prime spot on top of the other gamecube games 👀👀 lmaoo
There's like an hour and a half of you talking about scribblenauts but you didn't mention the steam workshop where you can put on a lot of things that others have made into your game including offensive stuff??
8:01 You... dont. Why wud anyone play this on the Switch and NOT use its touch screen capabilities?!?!? I mean sure i guess if ya want it on the TV you cant use the touchscrn, but this is the perf game to play directly on the switch itself; and as mentioned... It has touchscrn utility! (except for some reason the menu you choose btwn the games from is *not* touchscrn compatible, which just confounds me every time i touch it and then have to hit A xD
Phirst calling scribblenauts forgotten, and then this (18:30), just read the series description or something, don't make the iceberg a "idk, next" thing
This video made me remember that my sibling and I had a Maxwell hat that I refused to wear to school for "wacky hat" day or whatever on their dare. It was too humiliating, even then.
8:24 they also had new levels for unmasked too. Bell Reeve and Titans Tower weren’t in the original version.
You calling Scribblenauts "forgotten" made me sad
Same
it sadly kinda is, i always wanted it as a kid but never got it my mate got me a copy of one of them and it rocks such a shame it never gets spoke about more
I never knew Scribblenauts still had an active playerbase, it kinda fell off, which is sad because its one of my childhood games.
Ive legit beat the Unlimited release on Switch multiple times and had to make new profiles to be able to start over xD
I stillve a blast playin this game to this day
Finally a Scribblenauts iceberg on TH-cam, I love Scribblenauts! :D

I'm back after playing Super, Unlimited, and Unmasked and I'm now proud to say I'm in a heavily large Scribblenauts phase now lmao
The best iceberg I love scribblenauts
12:21 Mr Shovelware sighting?!?!
Droomish sighting in the comment section of one of my favorite franchises ever?!?!
12:15 EviL ViLlAiN MaXWeLL! 😈

@@DanVzare it sounds like the dictionary they were grabbin words from probs merely listed the word as "Archaic" and didnt also mention it was a slur

Ha! You call that an essay. You should see my comment. :D
...
I personally think I might have a problem with the number of words I often write.
Well… thank goodness I’m not the only one who writes long comments xd

Traveled back in time after your 5th scribblenaut video to laugh at you here: HA HA! 😈

I need a game from that tech demos concept in my life.
It's so upsetting how they just let scribblenauts die
I think it’s important to note that while Remix is mostly a port of Super Scribblenauts levels , it does include some original ones.
Anyone find it weird he didn't mention the pc port of unlimited?
I really wish they'd revive this franchise. The idea is very cool, and it has always been one of my favourite games through my childhood 😔
Well I want MultiVersus to add Maxwell and Lily from Scribblenauts and I would also like Warner Bros. Pictures Animation to make 3D animated movie of Scribblenauts for theaters.
Ayooo, a new JeffCompass Scribblenauts video? Count me in
this game and Skylanders were my childhood
That pre-order hat was the funniest god damn thing I ever saw
the mario things in cribblenaut unlimited were also on 3ds
Me and my friends made a jeopardy like quiz and one of the categories was scribblenauts
but no one really got it right.
Imagen a world where scribblenauts fighting words came out
I remember that Octopus face with the canonical unpronounceable name was in this game.
I remember that I would use invisible glue to make custom creations in the 3ds version lmao
As kid who loved English class, the adjective puzzles were my favorite parts😄
I remember being so hyped when the first one was announced. Super is my favorite in the franchise since I like the portability of the game and the writing mechanic with the stylus. This was the first game I actually played through and I loved it!
I came from the Scribblenauts discord server, great video!
The most devastating weapon in this game. Is Medusa. And you ability to make your character hypnotic. Then you command the masses.😁
was so excited to get into the controverseies of a decades old series- this rocked!
p.s. loved all the mr. shovelware cameos plus i see you've given your extra copy of mario party 7 a prime spot on top of the other gamecube games 👀👀 lmaoo
Glad you enjoyed!!
you forgot about there being a version of Joker wearing his own severed face in the DC spinoff.
Holy cow hit game Tokimeki Memorial mention (I've never played it its just wild that it's actually been mentioned by anyone whatsoever)
It's also sad it's not on Google play anymore.
9:52 The Goron DISRESPECT. This is unacceptable!😠😠😠 Great video though!
by the way when you said its lily narrorating it it is her but in the future maxwell and lily are kids
There's like an hour and a half of you talking about scribblenauts but you didn't mention the steam workshop where you can put on a lot of things that others have made into your game including offensive stuff??
I didn't forget Scribblenauts but I kinda hate Unlimited
IT HAS A PC PORT
8:01 You... dont. Why wud anyone play this on the Switch and NOT use its touch screen capabilities?!?!?

Do you watch scott the woz
No I don't, do you?
Something is seriously wrong with bro’s 3DS footage. I have unlimited on 3DS and it is not crusty at all (other than the screen resolution)
I looked at the sprites for the 3DS; it’s super crusty and pixelated due to old specs.
Its bcuz theyre upscalin the footage for this vid, and that always makes it look worse than its original resolution
Awesome video my guy, I loved this series from the start, I put sooo many hours into almost every game 🤌🏻
