Watching this 7 months after it was released. I understand Horowitz’s thoughts on distinguishing between withdrawal symptoms and relapse however I would argue that this does not apply to all cases of withdrawal. I have been on sertraline for 20 years after several failed attempts to taper off it. My withdrawal symptoms started this last time , 9 months after my last drop. I tapered by 2 mg increments held each time for three months from 50 mg to 25 mg . I decided to stay on 25 for life to avoid agonising withdrawal. However , 9 months later I started experiencing bladder irritation ( no uti) and then insomnia and then full blown hyper activity and anxiety and total loss of appetite and extreme weight loss, loss of any emotion other than fear and so forth. This must have been a late onset withdrawal or else I reached tolerance? I can’t increase dose after such a long time. In any case past experience taught me that increasing the dose even in tiny amounts, caused severe worsening of symptoms/ Akathisia. I also heard a talk with Angie Peacock recently about a woman whose withdrawal from Effexor started 18 months after her last dose.
My story. Twenty years of off on off on off on thinking withdrawal was relapse. Am I permanently damaged??? GP prescribed for minor reasons now I’m really sick. Doctors know nothing. Stevie did you finally get off???? Thank you so much dear!!!
Reinstatement doesn’t always work to resolve withdrawal Tremor Nerve burning Migraine Akathesia Muscle jumping Horrible insomnia Dysphoria Time is altered Etc. All withdrawal!! My original low mood and sleeping too much sounds pretty good now.
First 9 months were mostly cognitive issues, extreme fatigue . Now I'm in a hellscape with all the symptoms you've outlined. So weird to have them manifest this far into coming off. Was on SSRI for 22 years and benzos for 3.
I’am severe. WD and brain damage. 15 months off sertraline, 20 years use too fast taper. The brain burning and pain is unbearable. Can stand up and move around for 15 min. Bedridden. Is there any hope? Is it neurotoxicity? Pls.
Ugh I feel fucked. I was on zyprexa latuda lunesta Saphris Ati clonopazam Viibryd. Dr cold turkey me. I run from death everyday all I do is pace and drive. I walk a lot in nature when I pull over. I’ve been off 3 years and feel fucking horrible not to mention I’ve got a narcissistic ex abuser that keeps antagonising me and making my life living hell while I’m going through this he was the whole reason why I got put on them
Is it possible to get an interdose withdrawal from Doxepin? I hit 7.5mg (started at 75mg 3 years ago) and 3 hours before my dose in the evening i get high agitated and some akathisia. I only dose in the evening. I try to take some in the morning but I be drowsy the whole day and some agitated.
Thank goodness there is recognition regarding withdrawal. These drugs are so toxic. Thank you both for your work.
