Simple answer. The Bible quotes Mary that ALL generations shall call her blessed. Anyone who does not can tell our Lord why they didn't when standing in front of Him.
This is a more persuasive argument than what the hosts put forward. I am protestant, and I can understand admiring the saints, in the same way in folklore and history we might admire George Washington or King Arthur. But the distinction between admiration/veneration/worship seems very blurred to me in this topic. Human beings build idols very quickly. Anyway! I still think the Exodus Lenten thing is interesting, and is helping me take Lent seriously.
