These new options are definitely an upgrade, after initial setup this should streamline automation and speed up/minimize manual scrubbing of drawings. One thing I noticed immediately however, the "Assembly drawing properties" dialog only has "save" and "save as" has been eliminated. I feel the "save as" option would be greatly beneficial, especially for detailing firms that may have multiple clients with different needs. I suppose you could set it up via model templates and or client based firm folders but to be able to load up settings for the entire group on the fly would be fantastic. Keep up the good work guys!
Hello Dave. After watching this tutorial on new view based drawing properties, I would like to ask you a direct question. You know, I do steel detailing based on AISC/NISD codes and recommendations. Question: Is there any way to detail horizontal and vertical braces using dimensions from work point to work point as the they are shown in the Manual 3erd edition? Also, can you help me automate drawing properties required to get this done in tekla?

I've played around with this for hours but it doesn't quite work the way I expect it to. So, another in-depth video on Filter, Dimensioning Type and Properties would be very much appreciated.
I am actually going to be presenting at Trimble Dimensions in October with a deeper dive into the new dimensioning settings. At some point that may be released as a video as well.
You need to set it in the option file in the model folder if it is an existing project. If you want to keep it for all new projects, you should also update the option file in the model template your using. If it is not defined in the option file, it will be set by your role. This is the option: XS_USE_OLD_DRAWING_CREATION_SETTINGS=TRUE
This is not a new feature of 2022 version, we can change to this old setting even in older versions of tekla by changing the command to 'TRUE' or 'FALSE' in options file which will be in model folder.

Correct, it has been around for a while. What is new is that we have enabled it and defined new settings for 2022 in the US Environments.
