I just finished a low speed hand held 2" wide belt sander using that black 24v 120 rpm motor. Quiet and power full motor. But i just ordered a new same motor with 480 rpm as 120 rpm seems very slow for that purpose. I actually made same project using the silver colour (12volts 480 rpm) motor as shown but it a noisy motor and become hot to touch after using it around 10-20 minutes. Worse, the gears went kaput after a used it for a while. Not very robust gear for a heavy loads but the motor seems fine.

Hello! Yes, black engines are reliable and expensive. And whites sometimes have problems with the gearbox.
You can take a black motor with high speeds, and put adapters with large gears on it to raise the speed even more. The principle is like riding a bicycle.
