    The street food in northern Thailand is so unique and has some very different flavours and tastes than the rest of the popular food in Thailand. We started off our unique Thailand street food tour in Chiang Mai tasting the sour tomatoey khanom jeen nam ngiaw, and a very different style of northern Thai pork belly curry known as gaeng hung lay moo, which is made without coconut milk! This northern Thai pork belly curry was unreal, so unique and flavourful, and the pork belly was extremely tender!
    One of the highlights on our unique Thailand street food tour tasting some of the best Thai street foods was getting to try miang kham betel leaf wraps. Miang Kham betel leaf wraps are a one bite wrap in a betel leaf that is made fresh for each bite! The flavours of these were very powerful and fresh, so unique. We continued on to a local Chiang Mai market, the Kad Kom Market, to explore the fresh foods and to try some that are unique to the Chiang Mai region.
    The street food in Thailand is just next level! Before heading to our last stop of our Thai street food tour, we grabbed one of the best fruit shakes in Chiang Mai at Pa Fruit Shake. We finished off our day trying one of the most popular foods in Thailand, and especially northern Thailand, khao soi. Khao soi is noodles in a coconut curry broth that is one of the most unique and tasty dishes in Thailand.
    We hope you enjoy seeing some of the unique street food of northern Thailand. We loved trying the northern Thai pork belly curry as well as the miang kham betel leaf wrap while we were in Chiang Mai. Stay tuned for more of the best street food in Thailand!

    Actually, the lime in the Miang Kham set doesn't have to be squeezed. You have to put it in the whole piece. When you chew it, you'll get a more lime flavor and the aroma of lemon peel. That's why cut the lime into smaller pieces. And add a lot of roasted coconut, this is the style that Thai people like to eat. If you have a chance to try again, don't forget what I recommend you to. I assure you that it will be 100% delicious and better than before.😁😁🙏🙏

    • @HungryTwoTravel
      @HungryTwoTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +27

      We were wondering that! We saw how small the lime was and debated if we should just put the whole piece in 😄 ok good to know for next time for sure, thanks for the tip!!

      @@HungryTwoTravel Yes one essential flavour missing there. But you can get miang kham elsewhere in Thailand as well, and in Laos and Malaysia as well, slightly different though. Highly recommend trying it with the rind on. It's probably my favourite thing in the whole world

    Miang Kham is a medicine that you can take as a meal.
    - Ginger treats flatulence
    - Chili stimulates the appetite.
    - Shallots contain nutrients that nourish the eyes.

Fun fact, before its not actually called swan egg but are called water monitor egg but our 5th king love this dessert so its rename into sth more "pretty".

    Nam Ngiaw is more remind me of Ox Tail Soup with noodles rather than Italian Pasta. The shave ice is completely melted in her dessert. Not all curry consisted of coconut milk and hung lay moo look more like red curry sauce. I think is more of Pork Thigh rather than Belly. When I eat curry, I would dump that entire bag of sticky rice into the bowl for my delicious appetite. I may request for a local to teach me how to wrap the Miang Kham if I have difficulty placing all the ingredients in the betel leaf. Should get additional donut with sesame seed all over. Avocade, Mango, & Coconut are my best choice as well for that fruit shake. Chris said there is no sugar. I saw her added some syrup before mixing them in the blender. Khao Soi is similar to Laksa, the differences are egg noodles instead of rice noodles and she chose the chicken drumstick instead of fish cake, shrimp, & tofu puff.

    As someone who grew up in Thailand, sometimes I forgot how diverse the food is here. Like Miangkam is something every Thai would know but I didn’t realize how little exposure it has internationally.
    Anyway great content guys, I thoroughly enjoyed your videos.
    Edit: btw when you eat Kaosoi try squeezing lime to the broth. The acidity really makes the dish much yummier in my opinion 🤤
