After knowing Jessica Walter exclusively from Arrested Development and Archer, I can't tell you how jarring it is to discover this sweet, joyful personality she apparently has. My brain doesn't know what to do with this information.
It was a gut punch to hear she passed on, but watching this, I couldn't stop smiling. She was so charming and engaging. Radiant. A total dream. Glad we had her for as long as we did.
God I love her. She is so regal, which I think is part of the reason Lucille Bluth is one of the funniest characters of all time. So many wonderful memories of her scenes on Arrested Development.
I love that she is similar to Danny DeVito in that they have this large body of work (much of it was before my time, and I haven't seen, because there are just so many choices now- as she implied), but they have managed to become icons to a whole new younger generation by doing hilarious comedies. They have all this serious work in the past, but now are known for playing terrible parents (and terrible people in general) in beloved hits in the modern age. I am glad that they are still finding success, as many stars that were their peers have since faded- but not them. Good on them for their versatility and ability to adapt to the changing tastes, and finding work in shows that appeal to the current tastes/sensibilities. I wish them both continued success; Arrested Development and Archer are my second and fourth favorite comedies (respectively), and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my number one.
Couldn't agree with this more. Jessica and Danny will always be legends and Arrested Development, Archer and Always Sunny are some of the funniest shows ever made and wouldn't be the same without them.
It's so strange seeing someone I've watched (and, in the case of Archer) listened to so much, talking so recently and being so funny and alive and just all around fantastic, and knowing they're no longer with us. She's an absolute legend. Still, with so many actresses getting cast aside later in their careers, it's pretty awesome to her have roles with such big pop culture impact in her 70s.
Felt the same, rewatched the seasons 10 and 11, this time i could notice her voice is just deeper and drier than previous seasons and just wanted to cry wondering how she was doing/feeling while she did these last seasons 😢
I can't believe it, Jessica Walters' gone too soon. She have this charisma about her acting that drew audiences to her and we have been blessed to witnessed brilliance unfold before our eyes. On Tuesday, we lost George Sagal, and now Jessica. We are losing a lot of talented performers and young actors need to learn from them. I will miss Jessica Walters a great deal and pray for her as she enters to another realm where her talented will be welcome. RIP.
We don't know what we've got til it's gone. This wonderful lady was 78 in this interview, and charming and sharp like she found the fountain of youth. Rest In Peace to a fine actress and killer comedienne.
Man, will this lady be missed. Such an icon, such a class act! You can tell that Jessica was just about to give away her recipe for a great martini in this clip when he interrupted her for The Wink, but it's no big deal. And she never looked like most of the rest of the Hollywood women her age-- the ones who, after age 50, start having loads of work done on their faces and lips, etc. Kudos. Thanks for all the laughs. ❤️❤️❤️
This is the first time I let myself watch her image since she passed.. I'm terrified. I will miss her so much! And I hate, hate, hate, HATE that I never got to tell you in person. However improbable that may have been.
She’s so talented, and so underrated! Such a great actress. Even though I know she’s a great actress, I’m still surprised at how different she talks irl
Anybody else notice (example, 5:10-5:20) she very much speaks about Arrested Development in the past perfect tense? It's eiother she is very much emotionally past and over that show, or perhaps like she was speaking about season 1 and 2, specifically or something ;) Anyhow, what a wonderful woman. she's great. The secret centre of two of this century's great comedies.
Man, she was the best. Easily the best part and secret weapon of _Arrested Development_ - no one made me laugh like Lucille Bluth did… except for maybe Jessica Walter!!
If you look at her character on Arrested Development, she said such awful things but we as an audience loved her and she remained iconic. This is a testament to how great an actress Jessica Walter was. The character could have easily been played over-the-top and cold, but Jessica humanized her. R.I.P
Lucille: I’ll be in the hospital bar. Michael: this is a hospital. There is no bar. Lucille: well, this is why people hate hospitals. (Lucille laughs hard at her funny joke & keeps laughing hard all the way down the hall)
My Dad still says to me, (when he doesn't require my opinion) "I don't need to hear from the peanut gallery." When I was a young kid I was like, WTH is he talking about?
Volvican “peanut gallery” on “Howdy Doody” is a play on how small the kids are (little peanuts) plus on the original meaning of the phrase, which refers to the cheap seats up high in a theater.
Love this woman so much.. she's not at all like Bluth or Malory Archer.. but then, I've never seen her miffed. Can't believe she still has to audition!
Rest In Peace, Jessica.
Hi snazzy labs
Such a loss for everyone who loves comedy!
Mrs Archer.
Just saw your “ Is Apple worth it?” Good job.
Loved her! 😢🙏
Lucille: Get me a vodka rocks.
Michael: Mom, it’s breakfast.
Lucille: And a piece of toast.
The lines were clever but her delivery was inimitable!
I just watched that episode today!
"There was a colored man in my kitchen! -- What color was he? -- BLUE!"
The air Horn at the end just sells it.
@@uss_04 the air horn is the best part 😂😂😂 how she struggles to use it is fucking hilarious

After knowing Jessica Walter exclusively from Arrested Development and Archer, I can't tell you how jarring it is to discover this sweet, joyful personality she apparently has. My brain doesn't know what to do with this information.
I know, it somehow feels wrong? like I wanted her to be mean to Seth. What is wrong with me?
We need a support group.
Your brain doesn't understand the information, and it won't respond to it. (Lucille Bluth wink).
I know I’m freaking out
Her real voice is also different. That is also messing with my head.
RIP to a legend. 'I'd like to cry but I can't spare the moisture.'
It was a gut punch to hear she passed on, but watching this, I couldn't stop smiling. She was so charming and engaging. Radiant. A total dream.
Glad we had her for as long as we did.
As a huge fan of Arrested Development and Archer the news absolutely devastated me. She was so unbelievably funny and seemed like a great person. RIP.
Was she even plugging anything here? It seems like she just went on for a chat. 😊
God I love her. She is so regal, which I think is part of the reason Lucille Bluth is one of the funniest characters of all time. So many wonderful memories of her scenes on Arrested Development.
I just rewatched the entire original run and they hold up so well.
You should watch Archer to hear more of her hilarious and snide remarks haha.
@@joedbernal5745 I have seen every Archer episode more times than I care to admit. I love those quizes that compares Mallory and Lucille.

She is just so delightful and charming. It's hilarious that she's widely known for two characters who are totally awful to everyone around them.

“He must have forged my signature!”

“He looks like a lizard. And he’s self-conscious” 😂
Seth Meyers is such a sweet man. His interviews appear so much like natural conversation. Not like FBI interviews.
