This movie looks gorgous and has a great soundtrack, and I don't even hate the "Shiny"-sequence because it's like this random ass fever dream in the middle of the movie that always make me laugh because of how bizarre it is.
If you're doing animated movies - Coco or Zootopia next!

Moana has easily become my favorite Disney Movie. The themes, the colors, the characters, the story - it’s just beautiful!
Absolutely have to recommend The Hunchback of Notre Dame if you’re doing animated movies. It was made in the 90s, and it’s so excellent. Definitely deals with dark themes, has fantastic music, and is very moving. Wonderful, wonderful story.

The part where she's singing the reprise of How Far I'll Go and you see her grandma as the manta ray under her boat makes me cry every single time I watch this, ngl.
I love the passion this film aims toward the Polynesian culture. Some of the best explorers in history. Fascinating.

I'm a classic Disney girl like I grew up with The Lion King and Pocahontas but Disney is coming hard with the new ones. Moana is def one of the very good ones. I also *adore* Coco and Inside Out (we love it when Pixar is in it too). I never expected to love Disney films as much as I deeply love the Lion King now that I'm an adult. But damn if I had to do a top 10 Disney movies I have no idea how I would do it.

This movie is good because it follows there Disney stencil; Moana taking off like Mulan did, Maui is like Genie, the song is another 'let it go', the grandma is like the tree in Pochanatas and Mufasa in Lion King so really you can't go wrong, it works.

Fun fact... I'm a youth movement leader and this year (20 to 27 of july) we were on camp and we chose this movie as camp theme. Each day we watched a bit of the movie (we already saw it before on leaderweekend where we discussed these kind of things. :D

This is my favorite of the new Disney movies. Moana is hands down the best Disney protagonist EVER.
What about my mulan
Additya Si I love Mulan but I love Moana more. Both are badass, compassionate, and groundbreaking but I like that Moana was able to combine her two loves (the sea and her people) instead of choosing one. It was a way of saying that you CAN follow your heart while also taking care of your responsibilities.
Personally I think Rapunzel is the best but I respect your opinion on that

I liked Moana but I prefer Tangled. Not sure how it ranks against Frozen for me. Overall it's very beautiful and the cultural representation was super legit. I don't think I'd want to rewatch it very much though, I can't even really explain why :(

Beautifully animated? Everyone looks like plastic troll dolls. Come on, if anything, "beautifully animated" is the one thing you can't say about this.
He ment like the backgrounds. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Esspecially since it's common film knowledge that water is a HUGE pain in the ass to animate. Let alone THIS well And the people do not look bad. This is a highly characatured CG animated film for kids. They aren't meant to look realistic.
However you are entitled to your own opinion
For me there was too many flaws in the movie that I couldn't ignore.

In the beginning you see a two year old walking alone towards water where she could drown easily, the grandmother was walking fine for one minute and then the next minute she's on her death bed, the mother let's her young daughter travel alone with zero experience with boating and could easily drown again, coconut creatures weren't threatening at all, the scene where moana was walking in slow motion was cringe, and how many times does she has to say her own goddamn name?

With all respect, this is an animated kids movie. What matters is the lesson, the feels you get from it... I think you're using your logical mind too much for this. I like the movie despite those unrealistic things because it teaches you to follow your passions, to value and protect nature, etc. It leaves a beautiful and clear lesson. The rest is just looking way too into it, striving for it to be realistic and perfect. Anyways, I mean no offense, just wanted to share how I (and many others) see the beauty in this movie.
