There were a lot of tools in the basement, which I pray you allowed him to keep somewhere, even in a pod until he could sort through them. There is life after George is done his magic, and life has other uses for tools that really cost a lot as I have found out these past 3 years of trying to get my 80 year old home to update and keep safe. I just wish these war time homes had basements, but at least there is space now under the house to put one in sometime.
As long as the home owners are happy that is all that matters. George spends a lot of time away from his wife and kids, and he is great for what he does, but I can say honestly the basement looks great.
Along with how Great you and your team(s) are, I for one appreciate as much as anything, the display of OUR American flag. God and America First and everything will fall in place.
Old comment but I'll answer anyway. They ask homeowners about colors and what kind of vibe they want. That's why some home might not look as good to you because you are not the one it's tailored for 🙂
I love this interior design! Usually the interiors look like they were designed by designers without any kind of fantasy, just another room in IKEA style. However, this designer has a great imagination and vision and dared to give it shape. I would hire her immediately if I only lived in the US and had the money. I could use her help well. Best designer in the show so far !!!
I have a bad back too and I cringed when George patted him on the back. I think that it hurt him too..... he arched back when George did that. At around 5:10
Wowie Wow!! Super basement finish here for a very nice couple! Thanks to all of those involved in thiis p ttyt oject and l wish them many happy, healthy and memory -making years enjoying it!! Peace to all!! ;)
Awesome ceiling treatment. Beautiful to make that entertainment center. Did restoration and rehabs ending up on my own, ruptured back discs and hip joints gone and had it not been for my friends........ What a nice family. Hope they enjoyed the final outcome as much as I did.
Look What matters is the sentiment and the unification in care, hard yakka and the goodness that can be found in the human spirit. Rocked it team. Yet from an aesthetic point of manner...not at all my favourite, brown uuggg,, the empty spaces and I thought she said it ain't gonna be about dancing cows but then HELLO! JS.
I love watching your videos. I have one question for your designer. Why a nautical themed lamp in a western room? It was all great and I'm just curious.
These comments made me think this was going to be horrible. That room was brown to begin with and she changed the shade. Not a fan but overall the whole thing was not bad. Not my cup of tea but as long as they like it...all is good
Great Reno! I wonder is anyone else curious why the designers wear the same outfit from the start of demo to the final reveal which has to be days and days apart?
It's for continuity of flow--read that about ten years ago--because it makes shooting a lot easier. Some segments aren't in the order they're finally shown, such as the shopping trip--it could have been done long before the rest of the room was anywhere near to being finished, the decorator knowing her plan well ahead of time.
What happens to ALL the stuff the owners have in this basement ? do they go through it all at the time or later on ?get rid of things no longer needed or keep the majority of it .
Curious question. So where do they hide all the stuff they pull out of the remodel areas? Yeah, I see they toss the old furniture and construction debris, but I don't see them tossing all of the DeWalt power tools. Wonder if they rent a Pods or storage building to put all that in? Cause it's never in view in the reveal.
That shop is awesome! I love most of the decoration but not so sure about the couches/sofas near the fireplace. Brown can be beautiful if used wisely. This room is really dark which is a bit of a shame.
I LOVE BEAD BOARD, Im like YaY everytime they use it I really love what they all (George and everyone involved) do here, in this show, George deserves a saint-hood!! Like Saint Nicholas But Im not always enamoured of the decor choices Like brown is gross there seems to be a lot of browns, like with the choice of sofas... But here in particular the paint colour for this space, the dark colour (brown??) was not that wonderful. I am not a fan, thats just my opinion though Sorry hate to criticise and be "nit picky" but I notice things... I thought the area around the fire was not well thought out either, the chairs were too posh and not big and cosy to fill the space, & the rectangular rug was not a great shape or size or something didnt look right, like it didnt complement the angulation of the stone tiled floor, like a square or maybe round rug would have Also is it just me or is it necessary for all that stuff they got in, like people dont have enough stuff... that they have to figure out where to put, as in all of it from before now too. Hope they have a big shed!
@@jb6712 - I can say I am adept at doing that particular type of work, at least I can assume so because people have been asking me to help them with their houses and/or yards (my favorite) for over 30 years now. Everyone has their own taste so of course, not everyone is going to like the same things otherwise the world would be a really boring place. There's nothing wrong with critiquing other people's work regardless of whether the person critiquing it can do it themselves. While all the videos have some comments on the design, this particular designer has far more critics than any other I've seen so far in that so many of the comments are focused solely on her choices. The majority of these comments are concerning her choice of the colour brown. I've done browns on more than one occasion myself and they can be fabulous in certain settings if you pick the right shades. That said I have to agree with everyone else who didn't like her choices for this room. I think most people's impression upon walking into that room would be that it needs a 'makeover' which is definitely something one shouldn't be thinking about a room that just had one. The good thing is that nothing she did was permanent. Paint is a cheap, fast, easy fix that can completely change the feel of a room, and reupholstering soft furnishings in your fabric of choice is also a good solution if you like the furnishings enough to keep them. My bigger 'beef' with this room is although I know they often work with what is donated, that TV was badly done in that it's far to small for the distance from the seating. Again, an easy enough fix. On a more positive note is that the room has been finished off so they can now use it and change things out on their own later. The floors and ceiling were finished off and they were the more difficult and larger part of the room reno, so getting this room done, regardless of the designer's choices was very helpful for this couple
@@claudeusgothicus6453 I am not a fan of brown, but painting I can do and it is one of the most inexpensive things to redo. But in all the room was beautiful. The cream color drew your eyes up and the brown emphasized the doodads.

Diwondermum, The wife was beaming and stated that it was exactly what she had pictured in her mind’s eye. The husband was blown away and on the verge of tears. I saw no forced happiness: not one iota. It’s their house, not yours. And you criticized George for working his rear off and improving their lives immeasurably, for free?
That made me cringe. Obviously men have emotions, too, and he was very grateful. But for her to call him out like that on tv... I'm sure she was "joking"....ugh.
I love the couple and they deserve a rescue, but I really don't like the "finished product" .It looks a bit amateurish . It looks like it does not have a theme color . the wall is already brown , why not put the furniture a bit brighter. It looks more depressing than relaxing. . it could have been done well as a minimal decor . These looks like some furniture that you take for emergency when you just start having your house as a single person. Sorry George
George had nothing to do with this besides trusting that he got a good designer 😂.. This is just horrible.. And all over d place.. Kept looking at the horrible colors.. Annoying throw pillows.. Bad use of large space.. Poor choice for where the TV is and d furniture around the TV.. Ugly chairs.. Jus poor use of space and resources.. Oh well... Congrats to the couple.. I hope the husband is still in good health.
What about the bathroom on that floor or say a bar nook since they wanted it for entertaining and the storage room. The colour could have been better. I liked their colour better. Sorry George not my favourite episode.
Yeah, boy, that would have made for a cheerful room---HA! They can always repaint if they don't like it, but typically, the decorators talk with the homeowners prior to the show being shot in its entirety, and they find out what colors they'd like, what kind of furniture would suit their lifestyle, etc. They don't just go into it blind and do a hit or miss, "this is good enough" decorating job.

Hate to say it did not look very nice at all, compared to other designers!

I laughed when George told the firefighters, "safety first". They run into burning buildings for a living!
does anyone know how the firefighter is I know what its like to have an invisible disability
